Jurgen Klopp Sack Watch

The 3 points you can get in MD 1 count just as much as those from MD 38. The teams who usually challenge for the title produce good performances over a full season, a good 2nd half doesn't cut it.
Spot on, they start well and get better in the second half. Not saying we will but we're looking OK right now.

Leicester were 5th at this same stage of the season last year. I've seen us (Chelsea) start the season only to collapse post December for far too long. If Liverpool are still flying come February, then I'll be worried.

You mean like Chelsea two seasons ago?

"Performances don't matter at this stage", please. Your posts concerning oppo teams are awful.

We were absolutely atrocious in the 2nd half of the season because we peaked too early, City were level on points with us on New Years. Hazard and our defence carried us for months, that performance against 10 man PSG at home spoke volumes about our play.

It's looking ominous. And it's looking like we'll only be able to watch on from afar hoping someone else stops them.

Liverpool will literally win the league this year, believe it or not. They're the 2nd best team so far, already played and survived all of the big games this year, and Manchester City has been getting unlucky almost every week for a while now. They have it in the bag.

This.

It was in the bag in 2014 and it's in the bag now.

Unlucky guys.

Thought they looked good last year after Klopp took over, and they're miles better this season. They're just really fecking good. The real test will be how they handle the holiday fixture buildup and whether they can maintain these energy levels post-Christmas, but it's ominous.

There's a good chance they'll stay there with a pretty decent fixture list till Christmas. However there's a very long way to go yet, Chelsea have made up incredible ground on the top 2/3 teams. I think it could be a Chelsea/Liverpool fight. City are stuttering, and Arsenal/Spurs are very hot and cold.

It will be between City and Liverpool me thinks. That will be one good game (city vs liverpool).

I said Liverpool will win the league very soon a lot earlier in this thread, and a lot of people said I was ridiculous "because it's Liverpool". They look to me like they're going to win it this year, but there is an absolute age left in the season. Anything can happen, especially when they lose Mane and Matip(?) to the AFCON.

Matip said he isn't going to AFCON. Not played for Cameroon in over a year (his own choice). They'll be fine.

I think we'll go for another attacker in January. Klopp's seemed to suggest that he wants someone else to add to our options up top. It'll probably be someone younger though.

The Caf experts predicted he would flop. Have balls and admit you were wrong.

Well surely he actually has to win first? So far he has finished 8th and lost 2 cup finals... They look far far better this season, lets see if they follow through with the title.

They really need to keep clean sheets from now on. It's verging on the ridiculous.

Fixed that for you.

While I'm not as dead certain as some over here about them winning it, they are definitely in for it. I thought it would take Klopp(and Buvac) longer to get them into the shape of a real contender.
What surprises me the most is their possession play. Looks much better than their attempts at it in Dortmund. Shows how coaches can still evolve and get better at their trade.

Don't think they'll win the league but fairplay to Klopp for getting them to top of the league with an amazing style of football. Especially now with that level of competition on the top and their squad (which is good but not among the best in the league) that's great work.

I'd rather City won it with a last minute goal again than Liverpool.

They have been defensively alright since the first couple of games. Their bad defense is a bit of a myth.

For example they are nowhere near as poor defensively as they were in Brendan's best season. And they nearly won it then too.

They have one clean sheet all season though and that was courtesy of Ibra fluffing a header.
They have needed to score two goals to win a game all season.

A natural striker is all we need up top. Other that that we should be looking towards the back for reinforcments.
A LB for sure.

Provided we keep up this form till the Afcon starts. How we deal with that month will be key in deciding if we can really go the distance.

How's Origi been doing lately? I seem to remember him bulking up and going on a good run of games.

Im not saying he will win the league with them. Im just saying it was wrong to write him off. And yes Pool lool better with the ball.

Can they keep this high tempo pressing style all season? They have a relatively small squad and the back up's arent great, so fatigue and tiredness could play a part.

Back up from today's starting XI in terms of attacking threat: Sturridge, Wijnaldum, Origi - that's a very decent alternative front 3.

I do think Chelsea will pip them for the title, simply due to a more experienced squad and better depth. But who knows.

I really need to start preparing myself for when they actually do win it, Klopp has done wonders and if he doesn't win it this season then they could easily do it next season. Fecking twats!
