Jurgen Klopp Sack Watch

I do think Chelsea will pip them for the title, simply due to a more experienced squad and better depth. But who knows.

I really need to start preparing myself for when they actually do win it, Klopp has done wonders and if he doesn't win it this season then they could easily do it next season. Fecking twats!

Good thinking, plan ahead - if it does actually happen you will struggle to get an appointment with a decent psychotherapist in the Greater Manchester area for at least 3 months.

They're flying, and look about as invincible right now as City did at the start of the season. I don't think they'll take the league, but they'll definitely get top four.

How's Origi been doing lately? I seem to remember him bulking up and going on a good run of games.

Hasn't looked as good when he's come on as sub.. But was our best player in the cup against tottenham. Think he's going to be important when Mane heads off for the AFCON.

think he has bags of talent.

Just read that Coutinhio , Mane and Firminhio have six goals and six assists each .

That is not bad at all if true.

Looked rusty earlier in the season, been good more recently.

Both him and sturridge have the problem that they may be doing well, but the starting front four are just doing better.

Depressing seeing Pep, Conte and especially Klopp come marching into the Prem and instantly making an impression on their clubs while we sit here and continue to watch United struggle.

He can end the drought. Will it be this season? I think not but for sure they are building. A front 3 of Coutinho, Firminho and Mane is exciting. If they could sign a top striker and a top cm and lb they will do well. They are certainly entertaining to watch

I dont think we need a top striker .

See my post .

They all have 18 goals and 18 assists between them.

Six goals each and six assists each.

Just got back, another very good attacking performance.
Top of the league.

As for Watford - those shorts!

Watched the first half of their game and I don't think they were even out of about third gear. People saying they will tire out and won't be able to keep the energy levels up. I don't feel that they playing with as much urgency than in previous games. They even looked a lot slower like they were conserving energy within the first 20 mins. Also no other competitions and their bench is looking good. He'll sign someone in January for sure. They will to close this season and as many have predicted could defo win the league after 26 years.

With Mane at the ACON and Ings injured I wouldn't be surprised if we sign or at least try to sign another attacking player.

Think you'll be fine even if you don't bring someone else in. Just put Sturridge in the lineup.
Orgi or Sturridge, I would be happy with either. However some chatter that Klopp will go after Christian Pulisic again. According to the Echo we want a pacey winger in the January window.

This season might be the one chance for Klopp and Pool to run away with the title. He has half a season on the other new top managers, therefore knows his squad better, and his squad gets more opportunity to rest without european competitions to play in.
Next season and beyond that, they won't have those advantages. Plus the other big three of City, United, and Chelsea can and will certainly outspend Liverpool on the transfer market, so the relative strength of the squads will probably not develop in Pool's favor either (coaching magic being an unknown factor here - Klopp has a reputation for getting previously unknown performances out of his players).
So anyways, it seems like now or never.

At least never in the next 3-4 years if not this season. ;)

Can they keep this high tempo pressing style all season? They have a relatively small squad and the back up's arent great, so fatigue and tiredness could play a part.
I'm not sure where this 'backups/squad isn't great comes from TBH. Witness out LC win over Spurs with 11 changes from the previous PL game.

Mignolet (decent PL keeper, he had actually played quite well in the PL games he started this season and was not to blame for a single goal), Klavan (CB), Lucas (CB - has played consistently well when called upon to play CB), Wijnaldum (MF), Grujic (MF), Stewart (MF), Ejaria (MF, young but a great prospect and not out of is depth), Origi (F) & Sturridge (F), our weaknesses are the FB slots with Randall & Moreno but Alexander-Arnold has done really well when called upon (RB) and Gomez (LB & CB) could be getting games by the New Year if required (building up fitness now). I'm not at all worried about the 'depth' of our squad. I also wouldn't be surprised to see one or to players come in in January (winger and CB - Sakho more than likely to depart).

As far as fatigue is concerned LFC will play 5-10 games less this season (and that's inc. FAC & LC runs to the semis, if it happens) than any PL team in Europe - so who's going to tire ?

They have one clean sheet all season though and that was courtesy of Ibra fluffing a header.
They have needed to score two goals to win a game all season.

We got one of those clean sheet thingies against your boys not so long ago. Bit pissed off we only got one point for it though. So if it's all the same to you we'll just carry on trying to outscore the opposition. Seems to be working well thus far.

Calm down people.

It would be a huge surprise if Liverpool managed to win the league and it should still be considered very, very unlikely. In other words, they won't.
Also I haven't read any Liverpool fans here claiming they will.

Without any doubt though Liverpool fans can be proud of their team, their manager, and the football that they are playing.

I don't get this at all. It's not like there's a standout premiership team where it's impossible to see Liverpool overcoming them. Having no Europe will be a big asset.

Some of the comments are very similar to what was said about City in the first few weeks

Agreed, the amount of goals they score make them very likely contenders, they will lose a few ,but will usually feel they can outscore the opposition. Sort out their back 4/keeper and they will be serious contenders.

I don't think that's accurate (if only for PL). Mane 6 goals, Coutinho & Firmino 5 each. Coutinho and Lallana 5 assists each. Not sure about Firmino - he got 2 more assists today so must be there or thereabouts too.

Here's a nice throwaway : 17 - Liverpool recorded more shots on target today than any other team has managed in a PL match since Opta records began (2003-04).

They're playing very well.

However, if we're comparing them to the other contenders then I'd have to give Chelsea a clear edge over them as, unlike Liverpool, they can actually keep clean sheets. Five in a row I think?

There usually comes a point in a title run where you have to grind out results as your attackers simply can't carry you every single week. Think Leicester last year or us in 08(?) when we had that series of narrow clean sheet wins. Right now Liverpool don't look capable of that.

City are in the same boat.

It's kind of a mark on how many creative outlets Liverpool have in this side that I kind of forgot all about Sturridge and was surprised when he was mentioned today. Some sides have a midfield player/attacking mid type player who can get into double figures for a season and that's always helpful, but Liverpool look like they have about three right now.

Liverpool have reasonably good attackers that are by no means superstars scoring lots and lots of goals.

Good coaching. Something we don't currently have.

Yeah, defensively they've got problems. Ironically despite the fact it's three years ago, their strengths and problems are almost identical to 2013/14 when they had an excellent attacking side but weren't so strong at the back. Unlike then though, they're not relying so much on one/two players to score goals.

Chelsea look stronger defensively than the others but I think their problem is that they've been very, very dependent on Costa and Hazard for goals. If one of them get injured they may struggle.

This is beautiful watching Liverpool fans getting excited again. I'm genuinely not worried about them at all. The goal they conceded today says more than the 6 they scored.
Ha ha. Keep telling yourself that. It's comforting isn't it.

I think our back 4 are actually pretty decent. Clyne, Lovren, Matip and Milner have played really well together and although we haven't kept a clean sheet (apart from when playing against the most expensive player in world football ever), I'm not overly concerned.

That said, our keeper is looking shaky and needs to bulk up and get used to the league a bit more. He made some decent stops today but I always feel there's a mistake in him at the moment. I'm not for one minute suggesting that he'all get to De Gea's level but these are the same problems that he had when he first arrived in England. The only way to improve him though is to play him so while he's busy settling down, we're going to concede goals like we did against Palace last week.

Will we win the league? I'm not so sure. We look fantastic going forward and no one wants to play us at the moment but I think Chelsea have better balance in their team than we do and I think they have the ability to grind out a 1-0 win when everything is against them. I wanted top 4 at the start and still do, anything else is a bonus.

On loan or permanently? Can't see Dortmund selling him.
He's said he won't sign a new contract and his expires end of this season (I think I'm right in saying). Before the season started we were clearly after him but he said he wanted another season at BD. I thought we had lost our chance then. However if we continue to do well and stay in contention then both Klopp and the possibility of some silverware may tempt him.

Well Their game is set to overscore opponent, they won titles in bundesliga doing that years back, he can do it here, clean sheets are nothing when you cant score, we scored one goal in october.. there is a mathematics behind it as well when you win you get three points when you dont score you can get maximum one point, apart that, Leicester were hardly solid in the first half of the season, they started to pick them up in the second half of the season..

I am sure Liverpool could all of a sudden go this way when they start to tire, it can also go the opposite way, they will stop scoring goals because of that but statistically they conceded so too many cleansheets, so the time will come when they pick some of them, if their keep their attacking momentum while that they can get the top4 or possibly win the league. We will see

Ah thats a bit crappy of him. Looks like another Matip situation. Will be at Liverpool next season.

2019.

There's always next year.

As others have said it's a marothon not a sprint. 2014 showed us that

Top 4 and a league cup..be happy with that.

However it's hard not too start dreaming, we are as good to watch as anyone in the world. I'd love to have a last 16 game against Madrid or Barcelona next week because I think it could be football from heaven.

Do I think we will win it..no

Do I think we can..absolutely

Worked well for City until their goals started drying up as well.
You outscored sides with Suarez up front and failed due to your defenive shortcomings but continue to ignore that, we all know the goals ratio in November is continued until May.
I mean well done for matching Burnley's clean sheet accomplishment.
You're fantastic going forward but when the grind and pressure sets in then you need to rely on your defensive stalwarts.

Ah yes just checked. Previously reported as 2018 so likely BD would have let him go rather than risk losing a fee (RB Salzburg were thought to be willing to pay £27m). That may still be the case if he's determined to go, and he has said he loves the PL and wants to play here.
