Jurgen Klopp and Dortmund

While I'm happy for Dortmund, part of me thinks he'll probably be Wenger's eventual replacement. Gutted we never went in for him, ahh well we have Moyes at least.

If Wenger signs a new contract till 2018, then I can see a perfect match for him and Arsenal when Wenger decides to call it a day.

He's a brilliant coach....and manager. One of the most progressive I've seen in the last 10 years. The way his side play for him....laying out his ethos for all to see is extremely satisfying. You can understand Klopp just from watching his side, fairly unique.

"He likes having the ball, playing football, passes … it's like an orchestra," the Dortmund manager says, pretending to play the violin. "But it's a silent song, yeah? I like heavy metal."
"If Barcelona's team of the last four years were the first one that I saw play when I was four years of age ... with their serenity, winning 5-0, 6-0 … I would have played tennis. Sorry, that is not enough for me.

Great quotes.

Klopp has signed a contract extension until 2018

I love his no fuss pen too.

Is it a little jibe at Guardiola too?

I like that he has a lot of respect for Wenger.

Perhaps, but I think if he has something to say about Guardiola, he'd just say it directly. Just seems to be an honest person who says what's on his mind.

And I agree with him completely concerning his Barça-criticism.

That would be seriously depressing. He's the guy I wanted to take over from fergie. The way his team play is like sex. Football sex. Like, sex if it were in form of football. Yeah.

Klopp quote this morning- On Arsenal ' They are like an orchestra / playing a violin- Me I like Heavy Metal more - I want it loud'

That interview!

I really wish he'd been given the job here. Would be brilliant. Can you imagine what he'd do when given decent resources and not having to lose his best players year on year?

Hummels out for 2 months, Schmelzer out for 3 weeks. Subotic also out. They have no first team defenders. Rotten luck this season. They're playing Bayern this week too.

I still wouldn't be surprised to see a PL side attempt to pry him away from Dortumund in the next couple of seasons.

I actually hope they do, he'd be a genuinely great personality for the media to fawn over, not like Mourinho.

Odds on it being us?

You mean just like Chelsea tried twice in the past?

Klopp is commited to Dortmund. I don´t know why is that so hard that someone wants to build his legacy with his own hands instead of having it handed to him. Due to his work in the past he is already regarded as one of the best coaches in the world, if he manages to establish Dortmund as an European elite club in times of obscene spendings and sugar daddies he will become a legend. Infact he will earn a higher reputation by building an absolute top club than by joining one.

CL final 2013 against Bayern Munich
Piszczek - Subotic - Hummels - Schmelzer

1.Bundesliga 2013-2014 against Bayern Munich
Grosskreutz - Sokratis - Bender/Günter - Durm (against Bayern Munich)

I heard that Durm und M. Friedrich (the (out of contract) guy they were looking at as a replacement for Subotic) are injured too. So we might see:
Kuba - Sokratis - Bender/Günter/Sarr - Großkreutz

Losing against Bayern will hurt, but then again Bayern were always favourites for the title. The game against Napoli however will definately cost them a lot of money if they lose it.

Would be a shame to say the least. Bloody FSW progressing at the expense of 'em - that's just not right.

0% - we have our manager for a very long time to come.

Arsenal would probably be the most obvious fit for his signature if he were to come to the Premier League, but of course the sugar daddies (the existing ones or the inevitable future Premier League sugar daddies) will have a real go for him if he were interested in leaving Dortmund for England. His personality is exactly what the media here crave, so I expect his profile here will remain high in this country.

Dortmund should be reimbursed for the damage of losing two players in a meaningless friendly. These things have to stop.

Ribery came back with a broken rib (no pun intended) and won't make the Dortmund match. Robben was out for 8 months after playing hurt for Holland.

Things like this happen, can happen any day, international game or not. Part of good management to plan ahead of it. What exactly "has to stop"? International friendlies? Doubt anyone wants that.
Any pro club also benefits from the national associations youth work, any tournament be it EC or WC boosts interest in football altogether and reaches new spectators who wouldn't follow football otherwise. It isn't completely onesided.

I thought there is some sort of insurance now which FIFA pays for? I read somewhere that Real gets around 2.5m for the time Khedira will miss out or something like that.

/edit:
Found a few numbers. Clubs now can get up to €20.000 per day and up to 7.2m in total for injured players in official FIFA matches (official friendlies count as well).

So, assuming (or rather praying that Moyes gets the chop), how much of a chance do we have of prying him away from Dortmund?

He was my first choice to replace Fergie and that hasn't changed - everything about him oozes United. I know he's loyal to Dortmund but surely chucking bags of money at him might give us a chance?

None. He's said he will stay at Dortmund.

Our best bet is probably that he wins the CL. He knows it's unlikely he'll do anything domestically in the near future with Dortmund, and a European Cup would offer him some sense of a job done, you'd imagine.

I'd be inclined to agree with you unfortunately, though perhaps his frustration at his best players being leached by his rivals and the fact they're no longer in the title race might make him realise he's taken Dortmund as far as he can. Or maybe I'm just being obnoxiously arrogant.
