Blackburn boss Steve Kean has admitted the club will now have to consider any bids for in-demand winger Junior Hoilett.

The 21-year-old Canadian, who is out of contract in the summer, has stalled on several offers from Rovers and has attracted interest from Tottenham.

Hoilett can now talk to other clubs about a lucrative free transfer in the summer and Kean admits that the player holds all the cards.

He said: "Any player does when it gets down to six months. What we have to do is to continue to be open and honest with Junior and say 'we want you to stay'. If he would like to commit his future to the club we have always said from day one that we would like to get it tied up.

"He has probably taken the opportunity to look elsewhere. I don't know where he is on it. If we can get to a point where he wants to sign then great.

"If not, if there is a bid that comes in then we would obviously have to consider that, and the fact that he hadn't signed. But no bids have come in."

Hoilett in, Pienaar out ... would make sense to me.

Not so sure Hoilett would be as content as Pineaar sitting on the bench. I think Hoilett is on his way to becoming a top player.
Maybe so.

But we could probably offer him better wages than he gets now and the chance to join a much bigger club that's doing well in the league and stands a decent chance of CL footie next season.

If he gets a better offer from elsewhere, then fair enough.

And yes, I could understand him signing for a mid-table club if he thinks he'd be a regular starter for them. In which case, who do you think are the possible candidates?

Shocking.

I like Hoilett.

I wonder though if he could get better playing in a top team or not. He's still young though, so he'll have a good resale value if things don't work out.

Wouldn't mind Chelsea taking a chance on him.

He's what you need. Chelsea have always lacked in quality wingers.

So he is a free-agent in the summer. A lot of teams will be after him even if he wants to play in England.

Anyone who buys him will still have to pay a compensation package that will surely exceed £5m as he's younger than 23. I think Sturridge went to Chelsea for £5.5m and I assume a similar amount will be required to get Hoilett.

Not always.

We need a non-injury prone Canadian.

Do it Fergie, do it.

And Hoilett, play for Canada and help us get to Brazil in 2014.

I thought it was between Canada and the states?

It's between Canada and Jamaica, his father wants him to play for Jamaica, due to more sponsorship opportunities.

In a Julian De Guzman interview, he talked about Jonathan De Guzman (Villareal) attempting to get his Canadian Passport back so that he could play for Canada, and also asked Julian for Hoilett's number, to possibility get him to play for Canada.

Is his contract still due to expire in the summer? Might be quite a battle for his signature, if so.

What? Really? Might be a decent to option to have. Doesn't he play on the left a lot? That's value at least and if he doesn't work out he'll have a nice resale price.

From the Guardian's report of the match today:

Hoilett, a gifted touch player, merits a more salubrious stage than Rovers are capable of providing, and his contract is up at the end of the season. Top clubs are known to be interested, but Kean hopes he will stay. "We are hopeful of getting the points tally we need to stay up, and if we do that we can go back to him and try to sign him on again."

Well hot damn. He'd be a real value. Not a starter of course but the way we've been playing this season he could certainly get some game time for us. He's also very young still and is the only Canadian that plays football and the only black Canadian as well. Amazing!

Simeon Jackson has 26 caps for Canada! I reckon we should make him our Black Canadian Football Player back-up option, just in case Hoilett goes elsewhere.

Lucrative market, that.

De Rosario is black isn't he? And he plays quite well.

Picking this lad up on the cheap wouldn't be a bad piece of business for any of the bigger clubs. I'd happily have him here at a reasonable fee as a squad option. He's looked handy anytime i've seen him play, and seems to have an eye for goal.

Nani, Valencia, Young and Hoilett would be a wing department hard to match in the Premier League.

In the world really. We're already got the best/2nd best. Unless you count Ronaldo as a winger. Or Messi.

I wouldn't count either as wingers. I agree with you, I just didn't want to be accused of going overboard. So yeah, we'll agree in the world most likely, but definitely in the league.

Jokes on you because I accused you of going underboard instead!

Müller is not a winger. Not at all. He's sometimes chucked out wide but that doesn't make him a winger.
I though Alaba would be a winger but he's been playing in central midfield every time I've seen Bayern this season. He won't be playing on the wing at least whilst Ribery is there.

But yea, they are a good shout. Real only really has Di Maria. Barca has a lot. Pedro and Sanchez at least and Tello. But I'd say ours are better. Nani is better than any of them. Valenica probably as well.

Can't really think of any other team. You could also count Giggs with us but we don't need to.

Of course Muller isn't a real winger but he plays there a lot of times for Bayern Munich and always for Germany.
Alaba can play on the wing and CM.

Could definitely see us signing Hoilett when his contract runs out. Has all the elements of a signing which Fergie would make, he's young, cheap and has the potential to improve. Even though he's a bit raw at the moment he's a good dribbler and has shown signs of real ability at times this season.

I'd think the wings is an area SAF will look to improve as realistically Park hasn't got too much left and we need 4 good wingers.

You could arguably say most of the big clubs beside us have moved away from wingers in the traditional sense. City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Barca, Real, Bayern, Inter, Milan, etc don't really use them. It's more of a 4-3-3 or some variation of a diamond midfield. Spurs are the other club I can think of who use them. Common thread between the two is obvious. And some have said that tradition play has cost us in Europe.

Cuenca, too.
