The problem is that I dread seeing we come into the new season with both wings consist of inconsistent young wingers. Imagine having Martial Memphis, Januzaj, Lingard, Draxler, arguably Rashford and Perreira too with back up of Young Valencia and Mata who is not a real winger... (Not accounting we would rid some of them since we don't have that info)

He was great today but the injuries and his inconsistency are off putting. Of course he is young so inconsistency is no surprise but I wouldn't go in for him now. I was that impressed with him last year for Wolfsburg.

I would definitely go for Mkhi ahead of Draxler if that is the choice and we can look at Draxler next season. He joined Wolfsburg last season too so the asking fee would be crazy.
 
Under the right coach he would have shown consistency.
 
He looked great in the Germany game, he also looked pretty decent when Wolfsburg knocked us out of the CL. Still, the rumour that we're in for him this morning seems to have originated from... The Star, so don't get carried away boys. :(

Arsenal have been linked with him for the past five years the same way we have been linked with Gaitan.

Yes, they have been linked with him every summer in the last years.

This summer they were linked with Mahrez and Mkhitaryan. But know that we are going to sign the Armenian, I wouldn't be surprised if Arsenal go for Draxler. (Draxler-Ozil-Sanchez would be a quality midfield with Xhaka/Coquelin and Ramsey/Wilshere behind).
 
I think we should go for both Draxler and Mkhi. That way Draxler can learn more consistency and mature a bit, so and take over from Mkhi next season when he retires (I mean, he's already 27!)

On a serious note, Draxler is still young, but has bags of talent. I just recall some amazing passes and vision when Wolfsburg played us last season. That, coupled with international experience at 22 and a player that hasn't stated that "Madrid is my dream" means I say a big yes, assuming that we can get him for a reasonable price i.e. not KdB money.

He has 4 years left on his contract, and Wolfsburg paid 36m € for him to get KdB replaced. He wouldn't be cheap to get for sure

Agree with this. If it's a choice between Mkhitaryan and Draxler, I think I'd take Mikhi but I would be all for getting Draxler too if the price is right. Having said that, he was a recent acquisition for Wolfsburg for a not unsubstantial fee, they might ask for crazy money. If he can be got for about 30m, I'd be happy with that.

Agree with both these sentiments. Although he might be somewhat unattainable, these sort of links certainly get me more excited than the umpteenth link with Pogba or Bale.

I'm assuming Mourinho is going to use some of our financial buying power to start getting us back towards the UCL, but I think a lot of top-flight players will still want to see which way the wind is blowing before joining us.
 
Can we sign both him and Mkhi? And where would they play then? Mkhi as a playmaker?

If talking about compatible to Mourinho's tactic, then it's even stranger. Draxler can carry the ball well, but took too long before releasing the ball. Not a very much team player. He has the tool: passing, vision, but application is no where near. Proper use for poor man Reus term.

I am not the usual play our youth instead of buying guy, but if there is a chance Mourinho can motivate Januzaj to perform like his Moyes season, that kind of Januzaj arguably would not be too far from the current Draxler.

This. Draxler reminds me a lot of Januzaj, the dribbling style, deftness of touch, etc. I'd love to see Adnan given another chance to make it here, he's got the talent to do it.
 
I was also going to mention the similarity between him and Januzaj. I really rate Draxler and think he'll be really good with a good coach, but my loyalty lies with or youngsters. Januzaj is just as promising. I would have took Draxler over Mkhitaryan personally but we don't need both.

I'd be a big fan on his. I could never understand why we were never linked or appeared to be interested. He is a super player.
 
Sign them both and sell Mata and/or Memphis.

Use Herrera and Lingard as squad players.

If Rooney is going to be used in the Lampard role by Jose, and if Ibra is in the team, then there will need to be some pacey players around them.
 
Seems as though BWIN (German bookies) have slashed the odds of Draxler joining United, as there were a flurry of bets put on him last night. Was 11/1 but now 3/1 on.
 
Mkhitaryan in the middle and Draxler on the right with Martial on the left and Ibrahimovic up top would be tasty.
 
Drax would be fun.

Might need two holders in that midfield tho...
 
I'm starting to think he might be a better option for United than Mkhitaryan. Not as consistent, but with a higher-ceiling and just looks a better player to me, his composure is really telling when he gets in the final third, and he has good AM playmaking skills but looks more able to beat players and create something from nothing. Would need to work on his defensive work-rate though but I'm sure Mourinho would get that out of him. He's impressed me so far in this Euro's aswell.

Hmm those kind of stories usually come to nothing. Would love Draxler here though.
Also I do note, he played for Schalke vs Chelsea in the UCL when Mourinho was there and was very good, was also very good against us for Wolfsburg.
 
As good as Draxler is (and can be) I feel as if we need a bit more pace on the wing. Especially with Zlatan and Rooney in the side.

people wont put their money without a reason though. Thats why these things are seen as some indicator.
