So, what do we think. From what I've seen of Wolfsburg I've been positively impressed. And today he's put himself properly in the shop window.

He'd be my choice for the right wing.

Mkhitaryan Draxler Martial
Ibrahimovic

That would devastate teams. I remember him playing against us in the Champions League when he ran riot.

If Mkhitaryan is a solution for No10 (and I think he is), I would take Draxler for RW. He played great tonight in that position, also against United at OT last autumn

Seems to show up in the bigger games but relatively tame and inconsistent throughout the season. At his best he's excellent though: very tall, quite physically developed, two footed and strikes the ball with great technique. Mkhitaryan looks set to be our right winger, btw.

A hot and cold player if I ever saw one.. But like the German team today he was great.. If Micky doesn't work he could surely be next..

If it's between him and Mkhitaryan I'd rather Draxler. He's 22. Mkhitaryan is 27.

I also think Dortmund, according to reports, are asking for quite a lot of money given he's only got 12months to go on his contract.

--------Schneiderlin----new CM
Draxler---------------------------Depay
----------Rashford------Martial

Well we were linked to him in today's tabloids and he has just produced a terrific performance

Let's do this

Wolfsburg paid big money for him not so long ago.

And they are tough negotiators having got City to part with €80 mil euros for De Bruyne.

Could easily are them wanting 50 to 60 mil for him .He's not worth that at all .

@K2K

I could see him wanting to move given his performances on such a huge platform and the inevitable interest. But you're right, they will demand a decent fee.

I genuinely can't tell whether or not these are parody posts anymore

According to Didi Hamman on Irish TV this afternoon Wolfsburg have mayor sponsorship issues and are not flush with cash right now

Yes, they're both young. But someone who is at this stage at 22 is more impressive IMV. He's yet to play for a top side. He can improve and this tournament may be his springboard. Though it's simply a cause of prefering him as I think he's better.

This is obsession with age as if the entire team need to be in their early 20's is ridiculous. It's perfectly okay to have some older players who are in their prime you know.

Hence my last sentence.

Finally! A thread for Julian!

For 30m I would say: Yes. I. Want!

Skeptical on this one. Very inconsistent and would cost way too much as they paid alot for him and he hasn't improved since his move to them. At the money (40-50m) we would have to pay for him we may as well go for James Rodriguez.

Allofs has already ruled out any willingsness to even listen to offers and declared Draxler and Schürrle 'not for sale'.

"Usually we say, that we are always listening, but this is explicitly not the case with Andre and Julian. We dont wanna give them away. We wanna reach CL with them next season.

They have paid around 40m€ for him including bonuses and it would need an extraordinary high offer in the DeBruyne region to make them change their mind. An amount, that no club realistically would be willing to offer. Allofs cannot afford to have another terrible season and their last season went down the drain after selling De Bruyne to City and he got criticized a lot for it. He has to show strengths now and not looking like a selling club bending over.

Seriously, who is even listening to him? Major issues, what a load of BS. Sure, not the best time for VW, but they have money to spend and just signed another player with Bruma from Einhoven. They have made a huge surplus with selling De Bruyne and reaching quarters in CL. No worries about their money, they surely are not forced to sell anyone.

He's a lovely player on form. Not sure if he works hard enough for a Mourinho winger though? He seems to favor balance when it comes to wingers; a maverick on one side and a grafter on the other (Ronald & Di Maria, Hazard & Willian, Robben & Duff etc.). Miki and Martial on the wings would fit that formula.

He mostly plays on the left or centrally though.

Aren't most wingers a bit hot and cold. The curse of that position i would say.

I don't think we should sign him.

But Wolfsburg don't have the power to keep Draxler like other top clubs.

Everyone knew De Bruyne would go to Manchester City.
Perisic wanted to leave too -> If you have lost your best player in De Bruyne then you must keep Perisic -> But he wanted to leave Wolfsburg -> He could go to Inter Milan

The same will happen with Draxler, Schürrle, Rodriguez, Dost & Kruse.

People saying he's inconsistent forget he's the same age as Jessie Lingard. He's a young player. I love would him or Sane to come in. I think that would bring great excitement. I've long felt that we've needed to become stronger in certain markets and a few German players can't hurt. They mostly have a great mentality and at 23, you are still talking about potential. People had the same argument about Nani but season after season (when fit), he was a productive player. I was all for him last summer but naturally if he has a big Euros then you'll see clubs going crazy.

Very inconsistent and prone to an injury, plus I could have sworn he was playing on the left today.

Kante CM
Draxler Mkhitaryan Martial
Zlatan

No reason why we can't get both him and Mkhitaryan. One as the 10, the other right wing, or Martial top and both of them on the wings. Its not like we have anyone right now who is a top player as the 10 or even has good potential there. Our #10 options are rooney, mata, herrera or januzaj basically... old, not mou type, meh and a youngster who probably wont make it here.

While I am not opposing what Mourinho may have in mind for his transfer, this rumor sounds strange. Draxler is not that good and injury prone. With the money being talked about here, we can get Sane or even a more proper player in James Rodriguez.

If talking about compatible to Mourinho's tactic, then it's even stranger. Draxler can carry the ball well, but took too long before releasing the ball. Not a very much team player. He has the tool: passing, vision, but application is no where near. Proper use for poor man Reus term.

I am not the usual play our youth instead of buying guy, but if there is a chance Mourinho can motivate Januzaj to perform like his Moyes season, that kind of Januzaj arguably would not be too far from the current Draxler.

This can't be emphasised enough. A lot of people seem to forget that most young players are inconsistent; we've been spoilt by the likes of Martial and Ronaldo (who himself was inconsistent in his first couple of years). All that said, I'd probably rather Miki, as I doubt we'll sign both. We've got a lot of young potential in the squad an Mourinho will want some players he can just rely on immediately.
