Juan Mata

Mata will probably end up at Juve. They wanted him last season and they're looking for a No10. Valencia could be another option.

If we do sell him to Everton, I hope we don't do any deal for anything less than 30m. Everton always squeezes the last penny out of us (in fact from most clubs) but they always try to buy players on the cheap from us.

If the likes of Benteke, Deeney etc. are valued over 30m, Newcastle pays 12m for Matt Ritchie then Mata has to be valued at 25+m.

He scores important goals for us and his workrate has much improved under LVG. Can't see why he'd go straight away. Maybe next summer

I agree with this. He's a quality player and the idea that Mourinho didn't like him was overplayed imo. He thought Oscar tracked back more than Mata which is fair enough, but for all we know he may see Juan as an asset in this squad. I'd rather Mourinho focus on offloading the likes of Young, Fellaini, Jones et al.

Going to Everton is not the worst decision he can make because he will get consistent playing time and will be their star player.

On a side note, I believe it is pretty clear now that Mata is not Mourinho biggest fan or vice versa . It almost seems inevitable the moment we signed Mourinho that he was going to leave.

Everton always acts the cnuts when we try to purchase from them, so let's fleece them if they want Mata. Just imagine what they would have demanded if we came in for Stones or Barkley.

@Raoul

I don't see Jose getting rid of Young. He can play full back or on the wing, is defensively disciplined and a good athlete.

I'd imagine we're more than well covered at FB and the wings with the likes of Martial, Memphis, Mkhitaryan, and Lingard already in the mix. Blind can surely cover for Shaw and Darmian, Varela, and Valencia will battle out it out on the other side. He's a valuable squad player but I think he may be on the wrong side of events at OT.

Would be really sad to see him go

Has been one of our best (non-De Gea) players since he got here

Seems like such a nice guy too

Would much rather we offloaded the tall belgian guy

Fecking hell. A thread on the basis of a guys twitter account who's bio is "I have a Source who works in the media and will bring all the Exclusives first to you".

This will end up like Batshuayi deal. E.g., He was rumored to sign for Palace, but ended up at Chelsea. I can see him going elsewhere because he is still a very talented footballer. I believe he will do well adding depth to the Barcelona team if he does not mind warming the bench. However, with the premier league money and consistent playing time, going to Everton is not the worst decision he can make.

On a side note, I believe it is pretty clear now that Mata is not Mourinho biggest fan or vice versa . It almost seems inevitable the moment we signed Mourinho that he was going to leave..That is if he does leave..

No Italian team can compete with Everton financially as far as I am aware. Can any Italian team afford to pay E47m for him because Everton could?

Agree. Some proper arses in this thread. Hes been one of our best players in a team that completely failed for 2 and a half years. He also was Chelseas player of the year when they won the CL so unless we're going for the world cup hes got the ability. I hope we keep him and play him at 10 with martial, ibra and miki around him.

We should be buttering up Juve with the idea of Mata in the Pogba deal.

Intrigued so see how much we get for him. With the money Everton has now the club should sell at £25m at least. We'll probably sell him for £20m or less.

They sold us Fellaini for 27m. Anything less for Mata would be "insulting and derisory."

Wouldn't be that arsed if he left, his lack of pace and amazing ability to get caught on the ball frustrates me.

Having said that, I would love to see if his all round game would improve under Mourinho.

£25million?? In today's market of inflated player prices surely we shouldn't be making a loss on Mata.
He's 28 and has only 2 years left on his contract also our new manager has a history with him so I think 25 million would be a fair price for him.

Juventus surely can, in particularly if they decide to cash in on Pogba or Dybala. Moreover, they are a much bigger club than Everton, so I believe they can trigger that option if they are truly interested. The tv money has certainly helped these smaller/mid size clubs financially in the premier league that makes them more competitive in the transfer market.

This is the guy formerly known as corrienationstr, he had to change his name because someone blew his 'reputation' wide open with a hoax transfer in the last window, Leo Thelion was the 'player' I believe.

All very sad that I know this, but I do, his stories can be dismissed as garbage.

Everton want apparently £50m for Stones. They have a bargain bin poundland approach to transfers but want a fortune for there players ,feck them. I hope we fleece them if he goes. I want Juan to stay with us but have a feeling Mourihno has decided already. It's a shame but I would rather have us playing great football and competing with mourihno, rather than a happy mata under lvg going nowhere.

I wouldn't sell him to Everton for less than 40-45m pounds. He is better than any of their overrated stars who they all price higher than him. They sold us Fellaini for fecking 28m pounds.

Same goes for pretty much every other EPL club.

Fair? F**k fair. A club like Everton would be desperate for a player like Mata. Add to that they have a rich new owner and the BT money. If we are going to sell Mata, pull their pants down FFS.

@Amadaeus

Swap deal for Pogba . I would much prefer to see him play for Juve as I am a fan of the player. The Italian league would be a better stage for him than the PL.

Like others, I think there's more than a reasonable chance he'll move on this summer.

I certainly wouldn't give him away though, in terms of the fee. We know Everton have a few bob extra to spend too. Make them use it if they want him.

Everton wont buy him, probably another club will though. Just rumours, that have no substance yet

Selling him is the right thing to do, he deserves more than being a rotation player for us. His consistency has been questionable throughout his tenure here, and his size and lack of strength is a big problem imo. I watch him play and feel like I could quite easily run past him, he has the stature of a 12 year old. That being said I'll definitely miss him, as he's had some great moments and he's a very classy player.

He'd be a class signing for Everton, I don't think it'd be the right move for him though, he'd be the perfect fit for Valencia or even maybe Barcelona.

Not quick enough, not mobile enough, not good enough. Also i'm sick of him always scoring a goal right when the knifes are out for him, fraud style.
He's a nice guy but let him go, same with mophead.
The only downside with letting them go is that knowing us, we won't replace them and end up in the shit after we have our annual injury crisis.

Hopefully we can rinse Everton for once. I'd say £27.5m should cover it

Not good enough. Not athletic enough. As for being a nice guy, I don't care for nice guys in the squad I want warriors.

It's a shame that he has to go but I can't see him working again with Jose.

25 million is a bit of a joke tho, especially when Troy fecking Deeney is worth (supposedly) > 30m pounds.

I'd rather sell Rooney as well, but Jose likes him apparently.

Watford don't want to sell Deeney we might be more willing to sell Mata and actually want the money making our bargaining position weaker.

£25mil would be an amazing deal for us, seen as though we practically give away our players usually, barring Ronaldo.

If Everton are demanding £50m for Stones then we should be asking for a large chunk of that money for Mata. It's about time we stopped letting players go for peanuts.
