Juan Cuadrado

Never understood the fuss about him. Do not want, let alone for that price, let alone for that price plus Januzaj.

We haven't won much with one Juan, never mind two. If we want to buy a new 2, we should look to one Juanfran, too.

There'd be no point in loaning them Januzaj for 18 months when you can just pay the buyout. Personally I hope it's total bollocks as I don't think he's that good.

Precisely, it's like 5m euros extra.

Don't really get why the price is an issue for Chelsea. €35 million is perfectly reasonable for a top player who the selling club has no desire to let go. They should seal this in a few days.

I think they want to get rid of their unwanted wingers first. Schurrle and Salah look like they've fallen out or something, adding Cuadrado to them and Willian would congest that right side. Think they'll get rid of Schurrle back to the Bundesliga first, to make way for someone else like Cuadrado.

I don't know what the fuss is all about. He's ok without being anything special.

I think people saying he isn't very good or that they don't see the fuss need to think about the team he he's currently at and why it would be bad news to see him at Chelsea. Fiorentina don't exactly have top, world class players around him and they don't always even play him in the right position.

At Chelsea he'd be playing with Hazard on the opposite wing, with Costa in front of him, and with Fabregas behind him to take advantage of his ridiculous pace and runs along the right flank. That attack would be a nightmare. Unlike Willian, Cuadrado is much more direct and attack minded and willingly takes on and tries to beat his man.

Really don't want to see them get him.

I'm not sure there is a great deal of fuss. He's a direct pacey winger who likes to stretch the play, while also providing a goal threat. He's capable of playing anywhere across the attacking line, and also at wingback. So not Ronaldo, or even Reus, but a good player with some desirable attributes.

Costs more than Reus' release clause though according to the reports. There's not much fuss at the moment, but in the summer I remember there being a fair bit of discussion about him, which was what I was talking about :)

Fair enough, he did have a decent world cup, and was coming off a very good season domestically, which probably contributed. This season he's not been great. Reus is obviously superior, and cheaper, but for those reasons, probably significantly more difficult to acquire.

Yeah that's what I thought, seemed very highly rated very suddenly, which is usually a case of over-hyping a solid player in that kind of situation. Would be great to get Reus (or Bale), but even someone like Depay sounds more interesting to me than Cuadrado - even though Depay isn't the style of player we should really be going for imo.

Not fussy if he goes to Chelsea. Not convinced he won't ruin the balance Willian brings to the team.

By signing Cuadrado we could be depriving Januzaj who could be just as good or even better if given the opportunity to play on a consistent basis.

Reus also seems to get injured quite often.

Actually surprised that Jose is buying him after his comments on him the other day.

I think Hazard-Costa-Cuadrado is quite the attack, especially given that Cesc and Matic are behind them.

He is a good fit for Columbia, a good fit for Fiorentina, but I don't think he is a good fit for Chelsea. Something like that.
As I said at the time of those quotes, he wasn't saying that Cuadrado is a poor fit at Chelsea, he was basically saying that he's not going to talk about players from other clubs in relation to how they fit in his team.

Chelsea will have some ridiculous pace and trickery on both wings now.

Pace outwide, ability to beat mens on one vs one, quality striker, top playmaker…. What do they miss now ?

Well this probably rules Chelsea out of signing Reus, if they were ever interested.

Wasn't Mourinho already suggesting that his squad was a bit too small? That he couldn't get rid of both Salah and Schurrle because of that?

I wonder if Cuadrado isn't the only incoming there.

I do believe they want Douglas Costa as well

That'd be a bit strange wouldn't it? When would he play with Willian and Cuadrado?

Warming the bench, but very good option I'd imagine.
Schurlle and Salah out Douglas Costa and Cuadrado in, thats great business if they can get it done.

Guess having to pick 3 from Hazard, Oscar, Willian, Cuadrado & Douglas Costa would be a very good problem to have.
Have to think Chelsea main starting 11 will need rotating to save from burnout.

I can't remember the last time Chelsea failed to sign someone they really wanted they are really good at this transfer business . Cuadrado brings more pace and trickery to their squad.
