Joshua Zirkzee (Out)

Feel for the guy, if the story is true. Sorry it turned out this way and wish him the best in Italy.

I feel bad for him. I think there’s a player in there, he’s just got no chance at this club in this league with the pressure to perform straight away and the scrutiny. It’s a really toxic combination of zero time to adjust and adapt, zero confidence and a league that is already very tough to get up to speed in.

I don’t think he has a cat in hells chance of succeeding here however I won’t be surprised if in a couple of years time he’s surprising everyone with 15 goals and 15 assists in a Serie A season.

If he's going surely the board is confident of getting a replacement in.

I hear you but I dont think it's us, I think it's the PL. I can't see anyway he's able to he successful in this league.

We have gone to the extremes of keeping players too long to only last for half a season

I sincerely hope this happens. He doesn’t bring anything to our team - an indictment on both parties - and a move back to Italy would benefit everyone.

Don’t want to see him ruined by our fans’ aggression. I also don’t want to see him play for us again. Bringing back Weghorst (not that it would happen) would be a significant improvement. FFS sad episode all round.

I saw him against Everton. I'm astounded he had a career in Football tbh.

This is the right thing to do.
It was painful watching us double down on poor recruitment for years, keeping mediocre players for way too long.
If a player is obviously not good enough why hold on.
I doubt it's true but it would be the correct decision, although a replacement is needed too.

Everyone can see that Zirkzee will never make it in the Prem. It might be sad that it turned out this way but it's the best solution both for the club and the player.

Baffling downfall from a really promising prospect.
It's hard to put this entirely on INEOS, as this signing looked like a good bit of business and a worthwhile gamble at the time.

Zirkzee is the reigning Serie A young player of the season, and was available for a very reasonable release clause. If the same opportunity presented itself again with a different player, I'd still like us to go for it.

Obviously, this hasn't worked out. I thought he started promisingly, but to consistently look good in this team is no small feat. That said, he regressed further than most others.

There must be some kind of off the field issue, otherwise I don't know why we wouldn't at least stick with him for a little longer, especially given our lack in depth up front

What’s the benefit for us to send him out on loan? Sure we save on some wages but it does nothing to help our FFP situation.

The benefit is he'll play under a manager who knows him and he can raise his level of performance, rather than being booed off the pitch at OT, hence increase his value for when he's sold in the summer.

I do hope the optional fee would be the same as we paid last summer.

You know a signing is disastrous when they have to leave on loan halfway through the season. Good job Ineos.

A Loan? Why would we agree to that??
What are our other options exactly? Who was going to sign him based on his form? The hope is he goes back to Italy and does well and that either Juventus buy him or another Serie A team take a punt.

At least we’ll remove some of his wages from the bill.

Good luck mate. Sure he’s an alright fella and I wish him well, just as much use to us as a chocolate fireguard

That’s the benefit for the player and a benefit for the future . My question was what is the benefit for us as a club now? We need cash now and this does not help

INEOS, I knew it was a sad day, when they partnered with the Glazers.

Ineos should let him stay for eight plus years, maybe make him our highest earner.

In all seriousness, there is risk with every transfer made. Look at Ferguson and Veron.

The good thing here is Ineos have accepted their error and intend to rectify it quickly. One simply hope they realise their mistake was more to do with Zirkzee's mentality than ability.

A solid precedent.

Considering he is not a youngster there is a decent chance a loan fee would be included as he is a 40M Euro player who was winning awards in Serie A just last season. If we can take that loan fee and use it to finance an incoming loan for a striker who is a much better fit for the system then it is a net gain, not a perfect long term solution but a way to make us more competetive over the remainder of the season whilst Zirkzee hopefully can rehab his reputation by playing well for Juve with a Manager that knows him.

If he’s loaned, is it with an obligation to buy? Or we hoping he shows enough for them to tempt someone into doing something stupid?

I hope it’s true though cause we’ve kept poor players in the squad for far too long.

Any news on a replacement? We’d someone to rotate with Hojlund if Zirkzee and Rashford are frozen/ loaned out.
