If you play Zirkzee you need one of the 10s to run behind and the only one we have that actually does that is Rashford.. He and Zirkzee had a good game against Everton and then for some reason we changed that when we should have built on it

This should be liked for a newbie.

Im not defending him because he isnt good enough - but playing Bruno Fernandes trying to play balls in for Zirkzee is stupid.

If Zirkzee is going to play then

Garnacho -Zirkzee - Amad

Zirkzee is a false 9 & he cant play without other forwards. I think his and our best performances this season came vs Everton when he was playing alongside Rashford.

I can't stand him. Hardly ever breaks a sweat and lumbers around doing nothing, not even putting some pressure on the defenders. I doubt their defenders lost a physical battle against him all game today.

Zirkzee was bad today but im not writing him off yet. Today he basically played in a target man role. All he got were long balls from Onana and that was about it. Despite his height he still loses every header and his hold up is only good when he does get the ball played into his feet. Although it weird to see that such a tall and 'wide' player plays like a small weak player. For Zirkzee his skillset, it was basically impossible to have a good game. Sure, you can say his skillset is lacking because he is a shit player but he was also not used to his strenghts. In this system, i would pick Hojlund as the starting number 9.

People compare him to Fellaini but besides the Afro they have nothing in common. Fellaini was 10 times the player this guy is. His chest control alone was worth more than this Joker.

Excellent first touch too, and did a lot of dirty work. Went to war when he played for us.

I definitely miss Fellaini when I see guys like Zirkzee ambling around for us.

Zirkzee is our second choice striker, but what a poor second choice he is. I never the understood the rationale for acquiring him in the first place -- other than he's Dutch, which is a daft criterion for player acquisition -- this one maybe being the worst of all the transfer decisions set into motion by ETH and I'm fully aware of Antony, who could have been had for half the price of what we eventually paid for him. At least Antony puts in a shift defensively, which isn't why we bought him but at least he does that. Zirkzee got done in like a schoolboy for the first Bournemouth goal and contributed nothing to the attack.

He was an Ineos signing. Mainly because he was cheap and had a release clause.

At one point with someone charging down the left entering the final third when you thought to yourself a striker must be busting a gut to get into the area to get on the end of a cross you were disappointed, but not really surprised to see Zirkzee sauntering towards the penalty area, but still some way from it, as though he either had no belief the cross would come (no excuse for not sprinting into the area) or he just has no desire. Regardless of which, I'd not play him anymore other than as a last 10 minutes sub for the situation where we are behind and need to try anything because nothing else has worked.

United's play in the final third is creating more balls into the box, a few crosses and a few cut backs...more than in previous months for sure.

But then you see Zirkzee nowhere near then penalty spot, same can be said for Hojlund at times, which is infuriating at times. But all we can do is hope it clicks and it just needs time to adapt.

Comparing him to Fellaini is equally preposterous and the only reasons to do it are his size and hairstyle.

In reality he is like a shit and lazy version of Berbatov, which is not a good thing, obviously.

Nail on the head there my friend. He truly is bobbins.

It's quite stunning this lad is getting paid to play football at this level. It's not even a debate. He's a fuxking dud, he should be nowhere near the Premier league.

If this was Ineos signing then we're in trouble

Should just go straight on the transfer list. Even if we have to take a 50% hit on his fee, get something back in January or the summer for PSR before his value decays to zero. He is worthless to us as a footballer.

Yeah this makes sense.
I don't believe zirkzee is united quality and I never understood the signing when we needed a goalscorer. But as we have him, we gotta play to his strength or just use him as a sub

Does it not amaze you the amount of people who must be involved in a signing like this, from scouts, stats analysts, football directors, coaches, and between them they've somehow concluded this is a good idea. The incompetence is baffling.
If we learned they "scouted" by playing Football Manager, it would not be all that surprising.

He plays with the awareness of someone playing out of position, like a defender tasked with playing up top for a bit, or a midfielder forced to drop back and play centerback. He doesn't seem to have a lot of understanding where and when he should make a run, is only effective in the middle of the pitch (i.e., not as a forward), and has zero killer instinct.

Surprising to see that stats at top that he's already played 25 times for us and somehow scored 4 and assisted 2. Just goes to show that a 1-in-4 goal involvement rate is not good enough.

When I first heard his name bandied about as a target, I read up on him. In his own words he said he's not a goal-scorer but a facilitator, and doesn't view himself as a striker -- this has been borne out. Even Zirkzee knew Zirkzee wasn't going to score goals. So why play him without a CF? As a 10 he's 4th or 5th choice. So what is he?

Remember when Odion Ighalo came in as a stopgap striker? Ighalo was semi-retired in China but was a hell of a lot better than Zirkzee is. At the time, I couldn't believe my eyes seeing Ig leading the line, thinking surely the people at the top would right this particular wrong instanter. Nope!

Premier league is to fast and to competitive for such a lumbering laid back player. He has some skills but not suited to the Premier league. Sell and replace

Not a United striker. Haven't seen a bigger mismatch in a long, long time.

Just haven't got the expression of someone leading the line for an aspiring top team.

He's starting way too many games for us. Horrible decision to bolster our incredibly thin attack with someone as unproven and casual as him.

absolute shocking waste of money and I genuinely don't think he'd get in the starting 11 in any other team in the league, every match he plays were a man down. cant even fully blame EtH, others could have vetoed this transfer.

Can't believe Berrada, Ashworth signed off on him. I hope for our sake this is one of those signings that was already in motion and was inevitable regardless of Ineos because Jesus Christ what an atrocious signing

Pretty much this. He's not that good, playing him outside a role that suits him is just never going to work.

I don't want to write a player this soon but my god he is bad. He is so bad that he makes antony look good. Absolute horrific performance. And people had the audacity to compare him to Bobby Firmino. He was a workhorse and this guy is a slowpoke.

So this is how it's going to be, we'll have a definitive total verdict on a player every week based on his last game?

This isn't Sunday league u12s so can we do away with the 'everyone has to get a chance'. Guy moves like a throwaway plastic bag flailing in the wind.

I feel comfortable writing him off as a target man, goalscoring #9. I think he could be useful in other roles and positions with the right players around him

He’s shit.

I think the last United player I said that about was Sanchez.

I honestly think Antony is better than him. Literally looks like a fan who’s stuck the kit on.

Can’t see him turning this around, and I really never say that.

Shitty game. But as all others had. 3 days ago he was one of our best players. So, i would wait a little before writting him off.
The thing in which i am sure is that we need new starting striker because neither he or Hojlund are not material for that.

I really hope that he was an ETH suggested signing, because if he is not, then that dents my faith in the "football men" we have running things now.

What exactly would someone look at Zirkzee and see that makes them think this man can be a Manchester United striker?
