Jose Mourinho | Spurs manager

At every club he's been at since 2002, Mourinho has won trophies. Will he win one at Spurs?

Poch had 5 years to work with the team thats why - Jose has had about 2 months. The amount of people wanting Jose to fail and already calling it when he has not even had a full window yet and the squad has been hit hard by injuries to key players is hilarious by the way.
People aren't doubting Jose because he's only two months into a new job, they are doubting him because huge sample size suggests he just isn't a good active manager in the modern day.

Thought he'd be doing better if i'm honest. He might prioritise the cups as Top 4 looks pretty much over for them.

Your point would stand had you not already changed subject.

Rather than argue the original point, being Spurs failing to score for 3 matches in succession for the first time since 2013, you bleat on about United having scored less than Spurs this season, as if that somehow justifies such a poor run of form under Jose. It doesn't.

Is the fact that you changed the subject first lost on you?

The wider subject was/is goals scored. Cherry picking stats re. just the last 3 games is foolish. I can't help it if some United fans don't like when the total league goals tally is brought into focus.

Bare in mind Tottenham have scored the same amount of goals as us, not more.
If we manage to score vs Liverpool we’ll have outscored them.
Glaston is trying his hardest, but Tottenham aren’t the side they were a couple of years ago when he had things to gloat about.

I hope you give Mourinho 5 years

He really can't think of an alternative strategy in attack without a target man and that's a brutal indictment of his tactical limitations as a manager.

Actually 3 league games without a goal for Spurs now, 4 scoreless games in six if you include the Chelsea game. The Kane debate is interesting as I actually don't think he was looking that effective in the Mourinho system although early days of course.

Sure, but the point is you accused me of changing the subject when it was you who changed it. Which is kinda funny, you have to admit.

He is finished as a top manager.Spurs fans are deluded just like we were (mostly).

Yeah, Spurs being equally as Shite as United these days must be difficult to take for the guy - the near-endless trips to India are evidence of that.

It doesn’t help with Jose managing them either, he gave the guy flak for years on here, only for him to end up taking over them.

Since Mou took over, you've scored 18 goals in 11 games and we've scored 20 in 10 games

Kane is much more important to us than Martial is to you - also Kane is basically out for the season.
Are you sure? If Kane is out, you've still got Son and Moura who can play up top whereas we've got Rashford and Greenwood. Your options seem superior.

Solskjaer's win ratio with and without Martial suggests you're incorrect.

United had nothing to do with the subject at all. The first post in this thread today was about the stat of not scoring in 3 consecutive league games, the first time since 2013. How is that cherry picking and what does it have to do with Manutd?

Attention seeking as usual.

Wow - congrats! And your manager has only had 13 months and two transfer windows to work with the squad. Impressive!

Reminds me of when George Graham was manager of spurs. A previously very successful manager, who was clearly from a deferent era, and didn’t realise it yet. He won a trophy, but was pretty crap - wouldn’t be surprised if it plays out the same way.

I’ve seen nothing to suggest that Jose has any magic left, he’s there for the payday and will presumably be very happy with the £20m payout that be will get anytime in the next 6-18 months.

The worst thing about Mourinho being at Spurs is that all decent discussion has now been lost in the context of Spurs on here now. It's just full of some kind of combined saltiness/resent irrespective of what happens.

Pochettino turned the team into a giant steamy turd, so the fact that we're not suddenly amazing shouldn't be a stick to beat Mourinho with.

Yep it's a shit show in here now. All balance gone.

I thought he was brought in for results and trophies, at the cost of pretty football? And not a rebuild. Feels like the goalposts are already being slightly adjusted

That was the rest of 2019 before he arrived.

By who? He's one of the best managers of the 21st century (but seems to have been written off by Utd fans despite being your most successful manager since Ferguson left) so that will be why he's been brought in.

It's almost as if the football and form wasn't terrible for pretty much a year prior to him coming in. That doesn't change overnight unless you're one of the bottom-half managers.

In fairness to us UTD fans, the Spurs lot on here had written him off before he signed for them long before we did.

He won us a few trophies but his football was shite...and he was beginning to lose the plot big time. That's why he got the boot. You'll get all that stuff but without the trophies at Spurs. He won't have an owner to throw money at him and make him look better than he actually is. You're welcome to him.

Mourinho was fairly bad with United, if that's your standard then start worrying.

It’s a derby game so you cannot read too much into the result but man was Dele pissed when he came off...

It’s really harsh to judge him now based on injuries and the fact it’s not his squad. Thankfully Jose is known for building a squad from scratch and long term planning, nothing can go wrong.

This really isn't a great argument considering the money he spent and how little we have to show for all of that expenditure. Mkhitaryan, Matic, Alexis, Bailly, and Lukaku are all either gone, or are not good enough and need replacing. Jury is out on Dalot, Pogba will likely go sooner rather than later due to his failure to create a squad capable of pushing on, and Fred has come good only after Jose's departure. You can easily argue the only positive signing he made was Lindelof.

So yeah, he was the best, but that's not saying much about him, and he embarrassed himself during his last season at United.

3 trophies (including first UEFA) in just over 2 seasons and less than 1.5% off SAF's win rate - if that's "fairly bad" then I don't think you're going to enjoy the next few seasons.

I think most managers would lose the plot at United. The expectations are unrealistic, and the current ownership model is a contradiction to them.

I think the main difference will be in his own expectations - he would have expected unconditional transfer support at United, but he wouldn't do at Spurs, so it's a completely difference scenario - as well as living with his family in this job.

I'm loving it, he already looks fecking miserable in the press conferences after these kinds of results, so I feel like the whole situation would implode much sooner than it did with us. I'm sure the "eritage" stuff will come along soon enough and he will call Spurs a shit, no trophy, third-rate London club that is in the shadow of Arsenal and his beloved Chelsea.

Considering how glowing he looked when he started he looked absolutely fecked today like he’s just been dug up. Got spurs playing the dreadful uninspiring shite he had us playing. Poch had spurs playing better without Kane. Jose has no idea what to do without him, he’s a dinosaur

You're wrong. All of the previous managers would have been given as long as needed if the football had been decent. No rational United fan expects to win everything but they will support a period of transition if we're at least playing decent football and competing.

Why should he demand unconditional transfer support? And his living arrangements were self-imposed. He should never have taken the job if it created any family living concerns.

Well, the performances on the pitch were fairly bad despite huge spendings. During his first season we deservedly didn't make top 4 and during the second season we were mainly subpar and De Gea had one of the greatest goalkeeping seasons that anyone has ever seen. Collectively we were poor and it continued during his third season.

I find it funny posters on here saying Jose is washed up/ finished as a manager after drawing to a team we lost to not so long ago. I don’t get the whole hatred thing with Jose to be honest. We’re not exactly sitting pretty ourselves.
