Jose Mourinho | Spurs manager

At every club he's been at since 2002, Mourinho has won trophies. Will he win one at Spurs?

Just wait until Levy won't get him 40 y.o. players next Summer.

Funny the way people react, is there a manager who loses and consistently hits the right note -- not critical of anyone, anywhere, anyhow -- but not sounding like an idiot spouting inanities? [Move over to the Ole threads to see if people approved of his post-game response.]

The managers have to save something every week. They could say the exact same thing every time -- win, lose or draw -- maybe "Luck favored us today, or was against us, or was even this week."

Now taking bets on which first team player he will have a messy war with. It's Jose so we may need to give him time to first buy the person

My guess is; one of either a midfielder, striker or defender

Few little jabs at Eriksen the closer he is to leaving, then Vertonghen if he doesn't renew and it's already in progress with Ndombele. Aurier will also tip him off the edge soon enough.

If he had to jab at Vertonghen he would had done it last match. The goal was mainly due to his poor positioning and then Alderweireld or whatever his name is entered panic mode and rushed too early.

he really wasn't kidding when he sad he'd make new mistakes. Maybe his plan this time is to be his gritty self from day one so they know what to expect down the line. I also peeped a few spurs fans saying their play is looking more and more unstructured.

I think he has fallen into a bit of a trap at Spurs.

I really do believe that Pochettino was a victim of his own success in the end. Looking at his transfer spend and his wage budget and seeing the consistency he brought to a team that had no right to be where they were, only for that to become the norm and his contribution to be undervalued in the extreme.

This Tottenham side are not that good. What we saw was a very good setup and coaching that elevated a lot of these players for many years until discontent over contracts and money slowly crept in. English media will always big up English players, but the likes of Alli, Winks, Dier and Rose are average.

He has bought into the fact that this is a great squad and I think he has realized pretty quickly that it is not the case.

I think the implosion will come pretty quickly this time as the reality dawns on him and his mood quickly disintegrates.

He won’t be allowed to invest in the summer and things will unravel, if they haven’t before then.

Was thinking it was the perfect team of vets for Mourinho to rejuvenate. Could still happen if he's allowed to get his Eto, sneijder etc. If it turns out they are terrible and can't be redeemed then Spurs are in trouble because Jose is the last person you want in charge of a budget rebuild

I reserve judgement until he has had a summer transfer window. It's been obvious for a year now that our squad isn't up to it.

Good luck with that, I think some players will have doubts about working with him these days.

Draw against boro with full team minus Kane. Now Kanes out hes already moaning he doesn't have any strikers

"When we were losing 1-0 without strikers or the power to play inside their defensive line with lots of bodies and great soul, at that moment I had the feeling of 'we are in trouble'," Mourinho told BBC Sport.

Weird -- what is the correct thing to say here? And why does it matter at the slightest?

Wasn't he on about giving Troy Parrott serious minutes a few weeks back (pretty sure he isn't convinced about signing a new deal).

He came on v Burnley when they were 5-0 up and also played in the dead CL match at Bayern Munich but I'd have thought today would've been good chance to give him a start and see how he copes.

Was he even on the bench? If he's injured then fair enough.

He has Son and Lucas who can play there. He also said he was happy with the squad when he arrived. Now he’s already moaning a month in that he doesn’t have any more strikers.

He was on the bench and needs to leave as soon as he can

Yep, agree.

Good news for Spurs fans - it’ll only get worse!

his charming “I’ve changed” period is already over.

each time he takes a job, the meltdown comes sooner and sooner. No chance of him having his 3rd season meltdown, it will be much much quicker.

Even at 2.66%, spurs cannot borrow enough money needed to build a Jose team - although I’m sure they can pick up Willian and Matic pretty cheaply.

Liverpool at home next game.
Come on Jose, prove us all wrong please please please!

He'll play for a point.

Can't really see how Spurs keeps out the Liverpool front three. I watched Aurier today with that wild shot near the end....was he really rated as some world class full back at some point?

Few things more entertaining than Jose Mourinho when he’s not managing your team. So glad to have him back in the league.

He'll beef up his midfield options in the summer with Matic.

He should retire, get a new dog and take up punditry. Talked a lot of sense as a pundit.

You're trying hard to make out that he's been a disaster at Spurs so far.

But we're more in contention for top 4 than when he took over, still in the FA Cup and have the CL knockout stages to look forward to. So things ain't so bad.

He did come across very well as a pundit and obviously has a lot of knowledge.

I just think it will come crashing down sooner rather quickly for Mourinho at Spurs. His way of working isn't cutting it and if he doesn't reinvent himself it won't end well.

Give it a bit more time. The implosion will happen and you will disappear on holiday in India for a bit.

Tottenham have failed to score in three consecutive Premier League games for the first time since November 2013. It’s also just the second time a side managed by Jose Mourinho has failed to score in three league games in a row (Man Utd, October 2016).

This confirms how much mojo Jose has left these days, not much it seems.

Yikes !!!!!!! Did they play Barcelona, Manchester City, Liverpool and Juventus or something:lol:

Resident Spurs fan opinion on this positive stat considering it is Mourinho in charge

I really thought they’d be doing a lot better with him than they are, initially their squad seemed to suit him nicely but apparently not.
Its probably a little too early to judge him completely, but he needs to turn it around fast.

Once he gets his ol' reliables it's over for everyone. What hope do Klopp and Guardiola have when Jose's got 32 year old Willian causing havoc in front of Matic and Dier?

The squad is fecked and has been for over a year.

Levy's decision to appoint him has to go down as one of the worst footballing decisions of all time.

It was naive enough of Woodward to do it after the Chelsea collapse but for Levy to appoint him I'd go as far as saying was gullable. Did he really think he was going to do for Spurs what he couldn't/wouldn't do for both Chelsea and United?

How did they reach a CL final then? Either Pochettino is a significantly better coach than Mourinho, or the squad isn’t as bad as you say.
