I have a question for those saying Mourinho fits that league to a tee because apparently there is 'a lower tempo and defences stay deep' - when was the last time you've followed a Serie A season??? Back in the 90's???
Serie A is one of the best leagues in terms of goals scored/allowed, gone are the days of catenaccio, matches involving Inter, Atalanta, Sassuolo, Lazio, Milan, Roma, Napoli are full of goals, Serie A is probably in top 3 leagues in terms of average goals per game.
This appointment has one season only written all over it, Mourinho is past it, Roma are dog turd, have an average squad and average funds, they are currently 7th in Serie A and won't finish higher for some time, the other six clubs are way ahead of them and a dinosaur of a manager won't change that.
My guess is he is there to advertise himself for the Inter job once Conte has his meltdown after a draw at the Meazza with no shots on goal by Roma and ten sitters missed by Inter. Probably wanted a top club this summer, but who in his right mind would trust this guy???
