Jose Mourinho | Sacked by Roma

I was having a pretty bad and moody day until I just saw this news. Damn this is too funny. Oh Jose Mourinho.

Those Inter - Roma ties next season are gonna be firecrackers

Him and Conte absolutely hate each others guts

Any reports on what his severance package would look like here?

The publicity it has and it will generate would help Serie A alittle bit during these times.

He's made his way through all the top clubs now he's doing the same with the mediocre ones

It would actually be a bit sad watching this demise if he didn't dig Wenger out in the press for his.

Next season he will be winning the league with Smalling, Mkhitaryan, Jones, Matic and Romero

They've got a decent crop of young players too like Zaniolo and Pellegrini... Good luck to those guys (and Mkhi) :(

Forgot about Zaniolo...got a bad injury didn't he? They'll probably have to sell Pellegrini to give him a proper transfer fund.

Roma model over last decade has always been to scout well and sign likes of Allison and then sell them on for big money....seem to have gone away from that in last two years since Monchi went back to Sevilla and just signing over 30s and Mourinho certainly isn't sort who'll put stop to that strategy.

Sort of level of team his personality could still work well with.

And, yes, poor Mkhi. Never would have sold him.

I reckon he’ll do well there and will go some way towards salvaging his reputation. He knows the league, the team is crying out for someone to solidify them defensively and he’s taking over a team which isn’t used to winning so will buy into his methods and who’ll appreciate his siege mentality ethos.

In fact, much of the above you could also apply to Spurs when he took over but many correctly predicted that Spurs’ squad didn’t really seem like a ‘Mourinho squad’. Roma’s will suit him better, IMO.

Like, what’ll qualify as a success for Mourinho there? From where they currently are, you’d imagine establishing them in the top 3 in Italy next season and beyond, reach the knockouts of the Champions League from 2022/23 onwards and maybe win a Coppa Italia along the way? All well achievable for Mourinho considering the paltry opponents he’ll face in Serie A.

Jose might actually win me back if he signs up some of his former lieutenants from us like Matic and Jones

Fair play to him, he's living his best life doing a world tour of Europe's prestigious cities, collecting big severance packages along the way. Probably should have waited to see if Poch finishes the season empty handed at PSG to see if he had a chance of getting the Paris gig next season though.

Or for him to make a cheeky bid for Messi Lingard, drive up a bidding war and coerce the Cockneys into allowing us to go for Rice :D.

What is Fellaini up to these days?

What happened to Sarri? I swear I read a couple of days ago that he’s confirmed for Roma.

Jose should hire Francesco Totti in some capacity. Just have him stand in the dugout and look inspiring or something.

Not having much, if any, of a transfer budget might mean he actually can’t alienate his players and replace them. Might be the best thing for him.

Wow! This is a great signing for Roma, a Club that has always collected little in spite of its potential, a great brand, millions of fans around the world, a sports center among the best in Europe, if the city council allows them to build the new stadium
the future will be bright. Mou could be the right person for this place, a very difficult place. Welcome back.

I was just getting in at dig at Spurs :)

Me right now

Well his reputation in Italy might still be good. He might even do well at Roma and manage Inter/Juve afterwards.
Still, first interviews he will give he will be having digs at us and claim how Roma‘s squad is superior to the last two squads he managed!

I've always liked Roma and wanted them to do well so glad he's gone there. Rome is a beautiful city so good move in that sense too

But it came from absolutely nowhere

It's a win-win situation for both Roma and Mourinho:

Roma's squad is very unbalanced: the defense needs a revamp on the sides, Smalling and Mancini are actually very decent CBs imho. They are a squad who is a mix of players who can step up someday and dismissed players from bigger clubs who need to either ressurect their careers or try to reach glory for the last time.

Mourinho needs to revamp his career too.

Unless they hire 4/5 solid players, can clearly see this heading for disaster.

Roma fans have acted like pricks over the last week.. still feel they dont deserve this.. no one does..

Some erm, room for improvement there anyway...
