One of the main lessons to take away from Mourinho's stint at United was to be wary of anyone whose primary selling point is that they're "a born winner".
First, because there's no such thing and you have to actually do good work to win things, which will come from your skillset as a manager rather than vague personality clichés. Second, because once they're not winning, they tend to offer feck all else.
One great little point in that article, the last two managers to win a trophy at Spurs were George Graham and Juande Ramos, who both won the league cup. Neither of those managers are even close to being club legends. So anyone thinking that winning the league cup with Mourinho will elevate his standing among fans is probably wide of the mark.
Only commonality is the narcissism. Jose, for all his faults was once at the top of his game and someone who came up with hard work to become a self made man.
Well yeah obviously I’m not talking about their achievements, just a general comment on his demeanour and defensiveness.
Managers like Jose and Simeone are only going to succeed if the players fully buy into their ideas. There is a reason Simeone doesn't want to leave Athletico because his way of football may not be bought by everyone. Jose should never have left Inter and he still would be regarded as the best. I bet Kane and Son would be feeling what the feck is this football and when that happens players don't want to die for him and it all goes downhill.

Mourinho's style was bought by Real and Chelsea later also. Same can say us on 2nd season. So we saw it worked later also, just after Real Madrid, it also bought the tense situation within the squad and the club itself. Kind of the world and football has moved on from that perfect Mourinho style.

They should learn from our mistakes and bin him whilst their season is salvageable. I have no idea what they do in training every day, and I thought the same about us when he was here too. Much like us under Jose, Spurs seem to have lost the ability to string 3 or 4 passes together, or make any sort of movement or transition into attack other than just punting it. How do talented footballers immediately look so hopeless under him? Are they just doing fitness exercises on the training ground? They can't be practicing anything football related.
Son and Kane need to get out as soon as possible. They'll be 29 and 28 in the summer. It's now or never.
There was a stat someone posted on here once. It was something like, the team that did the least sprints in 18/19, still did more than the team which did the most sprints in 07/08.
If therein does not lie the answer of why Jose is busted, then I don't know what the answer is.
Teams setting up to soak pressure and defend and break on the counter, struggle because the oppo are running you into the ground mentally with just how much concentration you need to close the spaces as they're moving so rapidly and constantly and when you do get the ball, there's 2 players closing you quickly, 2 closing passing lanes, and 2 getting back into defence to join the two central defenders and the balls turns over or the counter opportunity is gone.

The first half display from Spurs last night was one of the worst bits of football I've seen in my life. Also says a lot about Chelsea's attack that they could only score from a comical penalty.
If Simone ever decides to leave AM, Mourinho would be ideal to replace him.

Simone's football is the textbook definition of entertainment compared to 2021 Jose football.
AM would likely replace Simone with someone like Marcelo Gallardo. I cant see any major club going near Jose after this. It'll be pure lunacy if any did. He's toxic.
I remember when they ran into each other in the CL when Jose was coaching Chelsea and Jose was the one parking the bus.

Can agree with that. That squad was nowhere near good enough to challenge for the league, and I think the only reason he said that was because he was angling for that job.
I agree that he's not going to get a parade winning the League Cup, but if he does, it's against City who have dominated the competition for years now. Slightly harder than beating Leicester back in the 90s. In any case, winning it will certainly make his stint look better.
This is surely the nadir of his reign there, so far. I doubt there is even one ally in the media left, to them all he's a dinosaur which is why I root for him, in a sort of Don Quixote kind of way.
Deserved just for the injustice of 2009, which would have meant us winning the CL that year considering how much better we were than Chelsea

It will elevate Mourinho's opinion about himself though and that's the most important thing for him. We won't hear the end of it being his biggest achievement etc. regardless of him being sacked after a few months.
So glad this manager has gone from our club. Kinda feel sorry for the Spurs fans I know. They still have another 12-18 months of this.
Back in India, he will be back as soon as Spurs start winning some games. So no time soon, although you would imagine that WBA with 70% possession should have a hard time breaking down the Spurs defence.

How the tables have turned. Spurs fans were bantering Arsenal fans during Arsenals poor run. Spurs are actually worse to watch that Arsenal were.
Jose failing and Bale being a flop was the most predictable events this season.
I think he will do well in Burnley.
His greatest ally now is that it would be so expensive to sack him and no clubs have money right now. The perfect storm of Levy's frugality and Mourinho's expense will keep him in the job.

Exactly.
Both Arsenal and Chelsea have the poor run, but I feel they are having consistency issue in some sense due to various reasons. Spurs currently has injury issues but even when they have full squad you don’t feel their issue is about consistency. To be opposite, they are quite consistent in their play and performance.
it’s a waste to play their players like that.
