Failing to make top four again isn’t good enough for any Spurs manager with this squad and the club’s ambitions. He’s done.

I’m not one to hate on Mourinho, but he just sucks the life out of everywhere he goes now. He’s the football equivalent of a dementor.

He’ll carry on getting a few more jobs after Spurs, but he should really call it a day.

Mourinho is a man with the right intentions but unfortunately his football philosophy is still stuck in 2010 and he seems to refuse to adapt or change his ways,

The reason SAF was eternal was his incredible ability to adapt to football and importantly footballers for over 4 decades, incredible stuff really when you see some top coaches fail so badly at it.

It's weird, I feel like I've watched his decline in slow motion having followed all his teams quite closely since Madrid - It's just been a steady downward trend, with each one of his teams looking worse than the last. Now at this point, he just doesn't look like he has anything left to give at the top level.

There is a conflict really of styles. We are used to Spurs under Poch where they would press high. No idea why Levy hired Mourinho when it was going to be sit back and counter.

I think he has lost the players. They had no idea on how to move or pass. Hoddle pointed it out that it was just hope for the best that something comes off.

Next destination: Portugal National Team. Though it would probably make sense to take a break. He's an awesome "pundit".

It's not that good of a squad though.

He could’ve left their only creative midfielder on, he could’ve used his third sub, he could’ve brought on Bale, he could’ve had Alli in the squad, but he’d rather make a point.

Spurs absolutely properly deserve this . How did their board see his last few years with Chelsea & United and think that you know what let's give this guy another chance . I think the jury is still out on sacking Poch but even if they did do that the squad was tailor-made for a progressive manager to come in and build on Poch . Instead they got this dinosaur, now they can enjoy the madness

Meh he's one game away from a trophy and still in the europa league.

long way to go before his job is under threat.

Jose will be the next manager of the US national side.

I don't play the lottery so don't ask me for lottery numbers

I hope not, no US fan would advocate for that, especially with our promising generation coming through now.

I remember Glastonspur saying we should have hired him instead of Ole.

The same guy said leaving Spurs for Bayern was a sideways step.

Poor Glaston, I feel this recent run of results may be the end of his Redcafe career.

Yet another scalp for Jose.

That looked awfully like a United performance from his last season.

I don't see what they have to lose by getting rid tonight. Get Rafa in as interim [or permanent if they fancy him] and start building again. Or don't, keep the rest of us entertained.

His head is easily turned and would absolutely jump at a bigger opportunity than the one he’s at. Just ask Swansea and Celtic fans.

I absolutely hate the prick and would hate him at Spurs personally. This is quite a thing to say as normally I wholeheartedly support NI sports people but he is one arse.

Just give up with EPL Jose. I think it’s not for you anymore. Try Serie A again or National Team.

You probably hated Jose too but see how quickly things can change!

Why do you hate him?

Please tell me you've at least given up on Jose, though.

The sooner Spurs sack him, the sooner his career in English football can come to an end. No one will touch him after failures at Chelsea, United and Spurs. Well, no top 6 side anyway.

You'll disagree, but you should have stuck with Poch.

Mou is what SAF would have been, had he not relinquished coaching control and put the club above his ego. SAF is the GOAT not because he adapted himself but because he allowed others to influence his team - he was the best coach when he was hands on at the start and then kept bringing in people with different expertise to continuously improve the club and make sure when we rebuilt, we were a different team to the one before.

It's like the Steve Jobs quote about hiring smart people, you can only continuously be the best if you keep hiring the best and let them add to your own plan. That period where we got the CL final 3 times in 4 years was simply ridiculous (we just don't think of it that way because Messi played for Barca and we lost two finals) and it was because he'd brought in coaches like Quieroz who added the positional understanding to our game (see story about Queiroz and his mats) whilst he built the team, kept everyone on their toes and managed all the egos.
