You could argue that Mourinho got a hold of them just as they entered their prime years. Son was 27 and Kane was 26. Good timing.
Maybe. But let's not for get that just not long ago, there was this narrative that these 2 overstepping each other, and that Kane looked past it, so it's better for Tottenham to sell him, and rebuild around Son.

Now they're doing well together, and better than they used to be as individuals.

Didn't crash down at Porto and Inter. Spurs situation and conditions are more similar to Porto and Inter rather than Sacking club like Chelsea / Madrid ( we all know fat frank & zidane is gone this season if they didn't win anything despite how harmless & pure they are ) or circus like United. He will be fine here and probably ends like he did at Porto / Inter, as a legend.
You have been playing dross football for the last 2 years and won nothing.
You can also say that Reguilon is a free player for 2 years if Madrid exercise their buy back clause. He isn't loan , he is free , Madrid will pay us 2x than what we paid for him which enough to cover all his salary for 2 years as well and we even still profitting from it. It's nice to have free players contributing week in week out , even nicer if he helped us winning the league.
It's hilarious how you imply Levy is any different to the "impatient" type of chairman/owner.
Jol sacked because of a bad start in 07/08 despite succesive 5th place finishes (with a bottom half standard team on paper) in his two full season's.
Ramos sacked less than a year after he delivers silverware (beating the 2nd and 3rd place teams en route).
Redknapp sacked straight after securing your 2nd top 4 finish in 3 years (above Liverpool on both occasions and Chelsea/City once each).
AVB sacked despite securing your highest ever PL points total in his only full season.
Pochettino sacked months after a CL final appearance and securing top 4 for the 4th season on the spin (longest uninterrupted run of top 4 finishes outside of City).

All of the above were excellent achievement's scaled for your resources at the time yet they were all still booted out at the first sign of trouble, Tottenham are every bit as much of a "sacking club" as anyone else and trying to pass your club as the model of managerial stability is utterly hilarious .

There was never a narrative that they were overstepping each other, and Kane "looked" passed it because of his injury.
What's this narrative now that they are world class because of Jose? That's just insane IMO

Spurs fans coming with all this shit after topping the league for 2 weeks. When you read their shit you think they already won the treble and the toxic one is already a legend. Stupid club with deluded fans.

Solid post. Bang on the money.

I think at Spurs he has much more authority than he had at `united. The Spurs team is becoming very interesting to watch tactically. `it is serious business in how they play now. No more larking about as under `poch.

Or maybe he's just left alone to do what he does best without the shackles of "you must field 3 youth academy players and play wingers because that's how we used to zing under Fergie"

I always thought he's a very good manager and if the players are on board he could always produce something special.

I know rival fans would prefer to credit Poch for Kane and Son being world class , but Spurs fans know better that they are world class because of Jose Mourinho. Harry Kane is now leading top assist all around Europe which he never did, and Son only need 4 more goals to match his best ever tally in EPL , with 27 games left. His best was 14 goals in the league , but under Mourinho you can bet your money that he can hit 25 at least , possibly more.

Spurs can win the treble, we still would credit Poch, the ref, the God of football, everyone but Jose Mourinho

Give it up, for your own health

Then a year or so later goes to Arsenal, rinse and repeat.

It always makes me laugh how he manages to swindle the fans with his charm when the good times are rolling. He tries to suppress his true urges but they break through the surface eventually.

The thing about Spurs is, I still don’t even see them as title contenders because it is painfully obvious they will bottle it regardless of who’s in charge. They have a guy in charge who has won everything but it cannot remove the fact that Spurs will bottle any likelihood of a real challenge for a title. I’d be surprised is they won this in my lifetime.

It does help if they give in to a control freak though. The moment they don't...it's under the bus.

Just ask Alli

Well we give Pogba and Martial all the love we can, arms around the shoulder and all that. You don't want to run? Dont run, you don't want to be told to track back? then don't. Just go out there and enjoy la
That's so inaccurate it's laughable:lol:

You think Solksjaer instills fear into anyone?

As Gary Neville said during the West Ham match: other top teams' players press their opponents; United's only half-press.

Most of our players seem to do whatever they went, so I'd say there is definitely some truth in his statement.

Jose is clearly a good manager still, and like it or not, clearly our most successful since Fergie.
But this narrative of him somehow showing up Poch’s weaknesses is hilarious.
Jose has 24 points after 11 games.
In Poch’s final full season he had, you guessed it, 24 points after 11 games.

What?? Posters were actually saying to sell Kane? Like a large portion? Not just a couple of nutters?

We actually started very well in Poch's final full season (I assume you mean the CL final season). I vaguely remember there being faint talk of a title challenge that season (we were 5 points off the top after 11 games) which clearly never materialised. Problem is we were getting worse and worse and by the time he left, I don't think we'd won an away game in a year or something like that.

I think comparing the two all the time is distasteful and I find Spurs fans talking down about Poch pretty much as funny and weird as I do Chelsea fans doing it with Mourinho. The guy has his faults but he did such an incredible job for us. I will always appreciate what he did but for whatever reason, he just couldn't get us over the line in the crunch games. Whatever the ultimate outcome, I hope that Mourinho will do that for us.

I think @Sky1981 got it right, Mourinho could do literally anything here and I don't think he'd get credit on this board. :D And I don't even necessarily blame you guys either.

:lol:Funnily well said.

Even after all that baby prince Pogba is not satisfied. He complained that he is not happy while away on France NT duty and used his agent to back-stab his teammates and manager, disrespecting the club in the process.

What?? Posters were actually saying to sell Kane? Like a large portion? Not just a couple of nutters?

Perhaps a couple of Spurs fans were saying we should sell when his value would be highest but they generally got shouted down pretty quickly.

I think they're referring more to this board, which I don't think has ever quite given Kane its full credit. There was definitely a period when Kane looked a shadow of himself towards the end of Poch's reign (for a multitude of reasons I'd imagine) and Son was firing . And some on here were saying Kane was getting in the way of Son, they couldn't play together, how could Son be happy when he was having to play second fiddle to this guy etc etc. Crazy at the time and even more so with hindsight.

I assume there was some overlap with the same people who've spent most of his career calling him a one season wonder/ two season wonder/ flat track bully/ solely a finisher/ insert whatever new criticism of Kane.

The key to good management is to instill fear into your players? Emm! maybe in the 70s-90s. Respect and buying into your philosophy is the modern way. Nagelsman gets players doing what he asks. He looks as about as intimidating as a cub scout.

Maybe just don't respect him as much...I don't know. He's not a vocal coach that much we know but some aren't

Thanks so much for your input. May I suggest not reading any Spurs threads such as this in future if it causes you such frustration. Merry Christmas.

Solis post and bang on the money without considering how long those coaches stayed at the club ? Jol lasted for 3 season , Redknapp lasted for 4 , Poch lasted for 5 season , i don't think there were any Chelsea coach who lasted more than 3 in the past 20 years. Jose Mourinho has the longest stint so far for Chelsea & so does Zidane with Real Madrid which might be his last season there.

You mean the urge to turn toxic when the team doesn't win and the players doesn't listen, yeah you need that urge if you are a winner ,not like certain norwegian serial loser smiling on tv whenever you guys lost.

Nobody cares about what Dele Alli is thinking or saying , he isn't influential enough in the dressing room to cause an uproar like your french virus, it's him who have to follow what Mourinho wants from him, not the other way around. We actually have a good club structure here , no players are allowed to have more power than the manager. He will get rid of Alli soon without any issue just like he got rid of Danny Rose and that's how a proper club should run , both Pep and Klopp can get rid whoever they don't want without anyone questioning or making drama out of it .I think Sir Alex wouldn't be as half as successful if he coached in this era , just look at the popularity of the players he has gotten rid of , i can imagine your board would turn their back on him, your fanbase would call him toxic and the media would hound him out for having beef with the likes Stam , Beckham , Nistelrooy and many more. It's why Mourinho keeps saying United has no structure since they put too much power on players especially those with high transfer fee/wage/popularity, it's business FC. Also why your club need a puppet who doesn't command respect nor having any credential as manager.

Great post that.

...

Levy has long nurtured a long-term plan for turning Spurs into an elite club. He's kept to that plan through thick and thin and has now implemented some of the major steps involved - e.g. construction of a world class stadium and construction of a world-class training centre. Funding all of this, to the tune of around £1 billion, has for many years involved sacrificing short-term investments in the squad.

It's pretty clear that Levy has had the patience to build long-term foundations at Spurs - and in the process has elevated the club's income to the point where there are now only seven clubs world-wide with a bigger income.

I don't see any other club chair in the Prem with the nous, long-term vision and patience of Levy.

But the initial point is, he's not patient with manager's even ones that were massively overachieving not long before that (or in Redknapp's case still overachieving at the point of dismissal).

Redknapp wasn't really fired for football reasons. In the last season, we were flying, much nearer the top of the table in Jan than we were to a 4th place finish. Then the England position came up, he believed in the media hype that he was the only possible candidate and that (and his court case for corruption) meant that he totally let his eyes off the job and started thinking, and even talking in public, like he was the England manager.

It meant that we dropped to 4th, when we should have finished at least 3rd that season, and it meant no CL the next season after Chelsea's CL win.

In the 'audition for England job' phase, he even came out at one point and said he wanted Chelsea to win the CL, as if he was already the England manager, as opposed to the manager of one of their local rivals. Never mind the historical acrimony between the two sets of fans, nor even the acrimony that exists between the two boards (and which doesn't exist between our board and Arsenal's for instance), it could very very clearly impact on our own season, and it did. The fanbase didn't take kindly to that and I'm not surprised Levy didn't either.

Imagine Lampard coming out and saying he wants Arsenal or Spurs to win the CL or PL, even if it negatively and very directly affects Chelsea.

Selfish prick.

I'm sure all those who want rid of Ole and think Jose is still a genius would be happy if United sat back, welcomed pressure, tried to hang on to a one-goal lead against Crystal Palace and ultimately dropped two points.

Dreadful way to approach games. Jose fecked up really badly today.

I lost track of how many times he did that with us, it was horrendous to watch.

Hoping a few more dropped points might see nasty Jose resurface again and take the Spurs fans down a peg or two.

I certainly would have been happier if we got a point against Crystal Palace at OT. Jose got a point. We didn't get any. We didn't drop two points. We dropped all three points.

It is slightly better than getting battered by them at home. To go with the defeat to them the season before.

Typical Jose nowadays. Sitting on 1:0 leads takes you only so far.

I remember he did that against Bayern at home in a CL semi final when he was at Madrid. Of course he lost

Because Ole is so different? His tactics involve doing this from the beginning of the game! He’s set up to counter midtable teams.
