to be fair if he’d said anything else he’d have been slaughtered and it’s going to strengthen the bond between him and the player. He’s finished as a top manager though. It’s going to get seriously toxic over at spurs. Bets on them giving poch the job back after Jose? I just can’t see them backing him enough in the market to ever make a real go of it there and why waste money to half arse it? Strange strange appointment. I thought levy was meant to be shrewd.... shrewd would be getting a modern system manager and giving them whatever scouting and data analysis they need to progress with a top 6 budget. Jose creaming himself over spurs players anytime we played them like we had magically turned into a smaller club than them when he was a huge part of the problem. It’s the Football equivalent of karma.
Oh for sure, Spurs imploding is a given unless they get rid and either bring Poch back and back him or a young up and coming manager with a progressive style. To think we actually played like that for a couple of years makes me really appreciate the job our Ole has done. Miles apart in terms of the type of football that gets served up.

Just wondering what were Spurs thinking when appointing Mourinho. He is past it. And they replaced Pochettino for him. Amazing...!

Sheffield did to them what they don't like. Allowing them to keep the ball in the useless area. Would love to watch his post match reaction. Probably has nothing to say.

Lack of investment on the pitch when we could have made the step into the big leagues, failing to sell players and basically fecking everything up for every manager he has ever had

Have the Spurs fans turned on him now? Honestly you’ve been screwed over by an act of God with Covid and the stadium. Levy had a solid plan to grow the club.

He won't last the full season if he stays next season, the cost of the pandemic and that stadium standing idle will have significantly changed his preparations going into next season. Promises that were made beforehand i.e funds for transfers, will have to be unmade and he'll probably be forced to sell a big player before he can buy. Then he will get moany and throw his players under the bus and probably walk Oct/Nov.

I am his big fan but he is in huge decline. His refusal to adopt new things and his refusal to change approach to the game is the reason why he is in this free fall.
Only going to Italy can save his career. Or PSG where lets be honest, any manager can win title.

Spurs are fecked. Kane will want to leave but he'll be stuck there unhappy because nobody will pay the money.

Even Joses EL winning team cost a bomb and we weren’t really playing great football at any stage. He’s never going to build another successful team without a blank chequebook and who would trust him with unlimited funds. When you look at his work over the last few years it’s obvious he’s lost his touch. His style of football just isn’t effective anymore, he’s lost the ability to motivate flair players as his tactics are nearly always negative and reactionary and he’s such a bad loser in a league where anyone can beat anyone on their day you can see how things quickly get toxic when he’s around. Busted flush.

We turned against Levy years ago. This is nothing new.
Which is odd as he seems to have something of a minor cult following round here, as his rep as a shrewd negotiator has always stood out against Woody's ineptitude. Interesting to see it's not shared by Spurs fans. Glaston aside.

The Jose appointment, after everything that happened at United, was especially weird. I can't think of a worse person to be tasked with building a team's damaged morale.

Where us Glaston, he still stuck over in India

Seriously, any Spurs man still backing Jose over the team, and 100% want him to gut the team, have fell into the Jose Cult trap.

Here and this is coming from a person who actually likes him. Hes completely finished, the evidence is overwhelming.

Mourinho doesn't walk, he waits for the big check.

If you hadn’t been following football and you were only looking at CVS then he’s still a top manager but any Chelsea or united fan could tell you with total certainty he’s done at the top level. We never played with any heart with Jose and If the players ever did anything well It was always about him And if they fecked up it was time to throw the players and club under the bus. He tricked us into thinking that was our level when he was a major part of the problem. Spurs needed some positivity and coaching after all that went on there and they bring in dour Jose and give him one signing (who he recently said was his 5th choice as some kind of masterstroke after he scored against us) and a loan. It was always going to end in tears. I liked what Spurs were doing as a club until recently. It’s always fun watching young and exciting teams develop and their scouting always seemed on point.

But guys ... he is ' a born winner' and 'he wins things' that's whats matters isn't it?

For the life of me I can't understand why do United Fans hate and abuse Mourinho so much? Mourinho was easily the best post-SAF manager -took us to 5 finals within 2 seasons won 3 cups and got us to 2nd from where his plans for bridging the gap was stalled and handicapped by the board's refusal to back him after signing an extension half a year ago. Why all the hate?

I thought a point away at spurs was a decent result at the time. But you live and learn.

That's generous, he took us to 3 finals, won 2. I won't count the charity shield because Van Gaal won the FA Cup to get him there and Super Cup is not a real final.

Only idiots count the Charity Shield and Super Cup as anything other than a friendly. It was embarrassing when Jose counted the charity shield as a trophy.

Levy has always been terrible. It’s amazing how these owners luck into having good managers and take all the credit for it. He lucked into Pochettino, didn’t realize how good he had it, abused it by not investing and relying on him to get by, convincing himself it was for the best of the club, and he has now missed his chance.

Same thing with FSG, all you did was luck out with your manager. There shouldn’t be videos on YouTube praising your approach.

I don't hate him, but towards the end of his tenure here the football was awful, the results were awful, Jose's demeanour was awful and the signs for our club building for the future were non-existent. When he left we got a bounce for three months, which showed us what a dead weight Jose had become on the club. I'm thankful for the Europa League and League Cup trophies, and for Matic, but nothing else about his time here springs to mind in terms of fond memories.

As for today, Spurs look a mess. They're not creating enough chances and they aren't even defending well.

Mourinho says he wouldn’t exchange lo celso for Bruno, I guess he has to say that but it’s just too funny

If I had to guess its 1. Because from the get go everybody probably expected him to not stay very long but that that might be okay because there would likely be instantaneous success. 2. The amount of success by old Mourinho standards was still very underwhelming 3. The squad never seem to be a cohesive unit/team despite some good performances 4. Mou was clearly muzzled a bit while here - which seemed to take away from the (temporary) excitement he would normally bring. 5. Team makeup was very unbalanced, as was the approach to games - Mou consequently acting like he was given kind of a shite team but while he was here didn't really make the tough decisions that Ole has. Granted Mou didn't have it easy coming in after Moyes and LvG, but it was hard to feel like we were ever really on the up.

We played big part in it. They almost signed Van Gaal but we did, so they went for Poch.

That's why journalist and fans just do reverse engineering. Clubs are run terribly, somehow appoint good manager and everything changes. Whole narrative changes to how fantastic their structure is, praising from manager to tea lady.

not gonna lie I'm bloody loving this

it's quite a cathartic experience watching the absolute state he's gotten Spurs into already

@GlastonSpur must be on the second lap of his round the world trip by now

Because for jose it's all about him. Porto didn't win the CL, it was Jose. Inter didn't win a treble, it was Jose and Real didn't win a league title because it was actually Jose.

Nobody is bigger than our club. Ever.

I feel for Mourhino I really do. Loved him at United even though it never worked for him. Hope for his sake he can turn it round. However, wouldn't say no if he sold Kane to buy new stock :wenger:

He would be murdered in Italy. Except Klopp and Guardiola the average level of Serie A and Bundesliga coaches is higher than in the Premier League. And no way anyone at Inter would trade him for Conte. Since 2015 it’s evident he didn’t adapted to the current standard of top coaches in Europe. It has nothing to do with with being progressive or defensive, since his last season at Chelsea his teams are defensively incompetent and unable to destroy the opponents on the counter like his Porto/first Chelsea/Inter/Real Madrid.

PSG won't touch him, he was available but still Inter went for Conte, says it all.

Only desperate clubs will hire him like we and Spurs did.
