He's growing on me and definitely getting hotter with age. Jose is our George Clooney.

If he wasn't like 60 years old I'd be totally on his heels.

Mourinho actually shares some resemblances with my father in appearance, I shit you not.

I kinda know where I'm heading towards later on. :wenger:

@Red Katie there you go. Shuriken is the young Jose. Find him and marry him.

I need a picture! Me and @SirAF both.

Haha.

I did say some resemblances with my father, not with me. It's in certain situations. Like when the camera catches Mourinho from the side – some times it's as if I am indeed looking at my father. Other family members have confirmed this at one point or another too.

I do hope you find your own Mourinho some day though. By the way, if you haven't seen them already, you should check out it some YouTubes from his earlier days at Barcelona, when he was a translator for Bobby Robson.

Or this, from his first period at Chelsea:

I have my own Mou and he'll suffice for now I guess.

Perhaps @Shuriken for sexiest male caf poster?

This is great.

By the way, I had missed the mini-bromance after the Europa League win between Mourinho and Martial, until now.

While I wouldn't criticise Mourinho for the draw, as putting out a more cautious system/formation (than before) was probably on everyone's mind prior to the game but Herrera coming in really didn't 'shore up' anything. Overall, it proved to be much easier to create chances against United set up like this.

He's not to blame for two daft defensive mistakes obviously.

There was no reason to change a system that has been working. Whether it is showing too much respect to Stoke or just being pragmatic, it didn't work today.

I can understand the logic behind his thinking but we actually ended up looking less secure than we have all season.

Made a mistake changing the formation imo. Don't know what his reasoning behind it was, but it was working well for us, no need to introduce Herrera. Could have done so in one of the upcoming cup games.

Changing a winning team for fecking Stoke of all teams.

Made the subs way too late(should have been made at least on the 60th minute). I would have made changes at HT right away from how the game was going. We got lucky equalizing at the end of the 1st half.

And another poor performance following an international break.

I agree. He definitely should have stayed with a 4231.

Stoke, despite playing a different formation, still had two in midfield, so it's not like our midfield two would have been overran.

I get that it's Stoke but they stopped being the physical lump ball side for a while now. They actually play football on the turf more under Hughes.

If we played 4-2-3-1 early on, Stoke would have overrun our midfield. It was okay to remove one midfielder in the dying stages of the game, but they were fresh at the beginning and we needed bodies in midfield.

Unfortunately, Fellaini was not available. It seems obvious he would have slotted in instead of Herrera today if he had been available, the game was meant for him. Mourinho didn't get the tactics wrong, but he didn't have the personnel for it.

Stoke are happy defending deep. Onus is on us to attack and Stoke are good enough to beat our 2 man midfield. We needed 3.

He needs to find a new solution to the opposition who play 3 at the back, we found it difficult vs Swansea and then following week vs Leicester and of course today. After they equalized we had 30 mins to force a winner but we went long way too often and their CBs kept bullying our attackers. I think we only created one chance in that period for Lukaku, can't expect 100% conversion from any striker.

Also, what is this nonsense about the handshake at the end? Sparky being a cnut again?

Think he was trying to react to find a better formation against teams who play 3 at the back, didn't work out obviously but understand his thinking behind it. Also, he has made subs around 70' mark in every match. He makes his subs based on what subs the opposition make.

I don't think we need to look too much into the performance, lots of players played 180 mins for their side during the break and it's a difficult place to go to. Jones and Bailly play sensibly like they were doing for past month and we win that game.

Stoke are difficult to play at their ground. There was no guarantee that not changing the formation would be good.

I hope this game delivers Jose the message that 4-3-3 is just not suited for our current team. We look terrible every time we play with it. Herrera is a b2b but he backpasses a lot, Mikhi is terrible on the right, our FBs are terrible offensively and Lukaku needs a player behinds him to create chance so why 4-3-3 ? Because Pogba played in it in Juve ? Even Pogba himself always looked better in a 2 men midfield with us.

We should stabilize the 4-2-3-1 and not change it unless we're going into a game where we're willing to defend only.

Some mistakes from Jose today. There was no need to change a formation/system that was flying. But he became over cautious once again. Pogba is always poor as a 10 and Mkhitarian is better imo in the middle. Herrera just served to be an extra body in midfield really. Mata and Martial have been great too of late and we could have used one of them from the start.

It's still early days. Still need to see more of us in all types of situations to tell whether we're actually at title challenger level again. For all the mocking of Chelsea, they still look a quality side to me. And City will be right up there this year.

It was fecking stoke for gods sake. Stoke.

Poor from him, not sure why he didn't start Martial and Mata as both of them didn't go away for international breaks and were fresh. Rashford was knackered at the end there.

I thought team chosen was chosen due to the midweek fixture. International break also had an impact.

I disagree. All the teams we have played so far have defended deep and we did fine.

Stoke had a 2 man midfield, and had we went with a 4231, then so would we.

I do think Jose made an error yesterday by changing the formation. This isn't the big bad awkward Stoke of old, they are actually a pretty nice team to play against if you take them on.

Not sure why we wouldnt just stick to what has worked and take the game to them. Showed them far too much respect for my liking.

That being said, we should have won that game. Two poor errors at the back and a sitter for Rom at 2-2. These are the key moments that the players have to take responsibility for. All in all not a bad point but please lets stop worrying too much about average opponents!

Mourinho is perhaps the single most hated football figure in Holland. All the Dutch icons taught us that he was anti-football, looking to contain instead of create, lot's of men behind the ball. Cruijff often sneered at him, and the nation sneered with him. I did too.

But I'm coming around. There's more than one way to play football, and contrasting styles make for variety. Also, it isn't all that ugly to watch. Against smaller teams especially it's direct and exciting, and kind of manly with all these strong tall fast players winning duels.

And I can't dislike the man himself at all. He makes you want to fight with him.

I can understand the logic behind his thinking but we actually ended up looking less secure than we have all season.

It's not the midfield three's fault though, isn't it? Stoke chances comes from doing long diagonal ball to the left, they hardly ever gotten through the middle, it's more like because Baily had the worst games in his life probably, and both Jones and Darmian seems unable to communicate with each other

I mean if Baily and Jones didn't make mistakes we would have won and I bet people would praise the midfield three for being solid, rather than the inclusion of Herrera, imo the inclusion of Darmian hurt us more, at least with Blind he overlap constantly and can do more than passing the ball back every time he got the ball
