he lost an individual defensive encounter...generally speaking are you saying we aren't defensively solid?

we're best in the league or there abouts are we not?

I'm more concerned about the lack of service to Lukaku as he's having to fight for long pumped balls and this is over a number of games

He’s just lost another. How difficult is it to hoof the ball high into the stands?

Jose got it tactically wrong by not retaining the 3-4-1-2, but we would still have got out of this with a result if it weren't for errors by Lukaku. Not entirely on the manager.

With time we'll return to the top but it won't be under Mourinho.

He'll probably whinge on about refereeing and criticise his multi million pound squad but the truth is that he's told the players they're losers. He told them that at Anfield and told them that today.

feck him.

Without Pogba and Fellaini, am not sure how else Mourinho was meant to set up.

Great save from Ederson and some fortunate inbox deflections were the difference.

We don’t have the sufficient resources to beat them yet.

His tactics cost us. When we attacked them the feckers looked vulnerable but we kept hoofing and chasing shadows.

Another season battling for top four beckons, instead of challenging for the title, despite lord knows how many millions of pounds spent since he arrived.

Not good enough, and that’s before you factor in the dour football on display.

Yay - anti mou brigade have a platform to whinge. Enjoy yourselves

In all honesty, it seems no different to last year's loss with the exact scoreline. Something really wrong if Pep is doing it twice.

Yep and anyone who tries to tell me otherwise can feck off

Pathetic here as always. City couldn't even do anything in their 2vs4 attacks. All Lukaku.

Did anyone genuinely think we were going to win that game? Their star players were all well rested, KDB didn't even go on the flight. We were missing our first choice defence and Pogba who we are frankly shite without. It was expected, only thing that's annoying is that City weren't even good, they had pointless posession, never really looked like breaking us down except for two absolutely terrible clearances by Lukaku.

I'm surprised we got 6 out of 9 points these past three games.

Why would anyone expect anything less from Jose? This is what he did with Real Madrid ffs.

I know it's probably cliched, but you do wonder if it's because he never played to a decent level, and believes coaching is more important than you know, playing football.

It's never going to change with him. Maybe that's enough for some of us, but I want to use him to sign big names, then get a coach who likes to play in.

I was very critical of Jose in the past but I wouldn't blame him for this game. They are the better team currently.

Beyond cowardly first half came to bite us in the end.

I'm pretty sure if Guardiola was our manager he wouldn't have us be playing football this dreadful with the squad we have.

City came to "Old Trafford" held us to 20% possession without a proper shot on goal in the first half up until that mistake from Kompany when we scored and as always when we're behind he starts throwing players on the pitch but the gameplan remains the same - hoof it, hoof it good.

What else was he meant to do?
Not park the bus and have his players constantly hoof the ball, not sub Lingard who was doing well, sub Lukaku when it was clear he was out of his depth.

That wasn’t a great save - Lukaku was just an idiot. Even his stance before the ball game was all wrong. He’s just useless, the occasion overwhelmed him.

Has to take responsibility for this. Pathetic tactics at home.

He got it wrong and what’s disappointing is we can play much better then we showed but he focused too much on them. It was obvious Rashford and Martial starting wouldn’t work particularly with the latter on the right.

I agree about the Lukaku bit. It was one of the worst individual performances I've seen from a United player for some time. That second clearance was schoolboy stuff. He had so much space to his right yet smashes it the other direction to the crowded area. He needed to be taken off.

Time to blame the manager !

TBF Jose deserves all the hate he's getting, his tactics are an insult to this amazing club. It is time for his fanboys to stop saying he don't deserve blame today etc.. he got out-tactics by classy Pep.

Pep is the manager we deserve. Superior in everyway, from his football philosophy to his personality he is turning City into what we was in the 90s - lovely winning football. A Class act.

Time to stop blaming the players and start blaming the driver.

11 points behind after 16 games. Never have I witnessed such. Disaster

Can't really blame him for that. City has not lost a match all season. We'd be first if we weren't up against a team of their standards.

The approach today is really disappointing. Blaming Pogba’s absence is poor form if anyone is doing that - he’s one bloody player.

Think it’s clear we’ve made progress under Mourinho in certain aspects but for the heights United aim for - really think he’ll be replaced sooner than some think. I don’t enjoy big games anymore - if we win (like we did at Arsenal) it’s a complete surprise to me.

Aside from today, Jose can do nothing about how City play.

My understanding is he should be able to do something out us though :/

In the interview before match, he kept talking about "defending well bla bla bla" so I was worried that the emphasis wasn't gonna be on winning at all.

Ifs and buts never helped anybody unless we want to live in an alternate reality where City didn't exist to make us feel better.

Cowardly stuff and unacceptable for a club like Manchester United.

We stepped out on the pitch vs City and looked miles behind them in the most importance aspects. They passed in confidently and played progressively. We played like scared kittens. The manager is responsible for that. I'm sorry but he is.

This is going to end one way. He will leave eventually - unless he spends millions on the squad. It's just not good enough for the long term.

What kind of defeatist attitude is that? Did Fergie tell himself Wengers Invincibles hadnt lost for 49 matches straight, lets go home boys? We are fecking manchester united, we are meant to lead the way, not hide behind excuses.
