Majority will hide under Jose’s tactics to deflect the fact that many of our players are just too poor. Pogba was shit when he came on. He added nothing to gear up the game.

Even after their 2nd goal, United had plenty of chances to get something. Smalling & Lukaku missed fat chances to get something out of the game but the quality was just too poor.

Harry Maguire of Leicester would have buried that Smalling chance with aplomb. Vardy would have scored from the Lukaku chance. The quality of some of the players aren’t just good enough at this level.

Sevilla deserved their win but it’s disgraceful that players earning £200k upwards can’t make accurate forward passes or carve out chances. Ben Yedder came on and he was miles ahead of any player we had playing today. I

I blame the players more than the tactics tonight. Valencia just surrendered the ball for their first goal, under no pressure at all when half of our players were upfield. He might get away with that against Brighton or Stoke.....such mistakes get punished in elite Europe.

He does look absolutely busted in the CL knockout rounds.

Even last year, Anderlecht took us to extra time at home in the EL QF.
Celta Vigo were one mis-hit shot away from knocking us out. Plus I remember Romero pulling off a fantastic save against Rostov in the last minute to keep us in it.

This is just how he's going to be in the knockout rounds unfortunately.

He just said we were aggressive and intense in the first half. He’s fecking full of it.

Oh feck his post match press conference.

'We had good situations' etc

feck off into obscurity you mug!

Over reaction which is typical of this forum. Sacking him? Seriously? We've just beaten Chelsea and Liverpool recently ffs.

We are making progress under Jose but it's slow. Sacking him and replacing him with yet another Manager who will want to bring in yet more players just starts the cycle all over again. It's knockout football, Jose fecked up, it happens. Recover from the game, finish 2nd and push for the FA Cup. Then go again next season with more signings under him. What the club needs right now is some stability after Sir Alex, Moyes and Van Gaal, we'll get that with Jose. We might not get to the domination we had with Sir Alex but tough shit. Footballs moved on since then and we were fortunate to have one of the best Managers of all time.

Alternatively we gamble on another Manager who might drag us back down to where Van Gaal/Moyes had us. Or they might push us on. Personally, i'd go with the safe option for now and then gamble in a few years.

More signings? Progress is slow?

You are right football has moved on, and has his managerial approach?

He has alienated the attacking instincts of the players at his disposal

Oh come on. Don't start this 'sack him' bullsh*t

Back him. Suddenly he can feck off? Why no criticism of the same 'style' after liverpool game?
Im sure this will hurt him as well. Lets see the reaction

He doesn’t deserve anymore backing, he has been nothing short of cowardly this season.

This is typical Mourinho. His whole philosophy is give up territory and possession and get men behind the ball with the plan to counter attack.
We've had plenty of these type of performances this season but have got away it by winning. Tonight we didn't get away with it. This is why many fans have never taken to him. His football is incredibly negative.

Get him out. We are going nowhere. He'll spend a ton of money and the performances will be shite again next year. We'll grind, maybe, to top 4, and the bean counters will be happy.

Our recruitment is fecking appalling. Hire Moyes for continuity, despite an empty CV, who then fires the whole coaching staff. Then hire a possessive based coach, known for rigid structures. Sack him, and hire a defensive, counter attacking coach, known for lack of attacking structure. Just lurching from one end of the spectrum to the other.

No football people actually running this club. Woodward is great at closing deals, for both sponsors and players, but there is no coherent football strategy. We need a DoF or something similar to build a long term plan.

This has been bleak today, fecking bleak.

Yup. The club is a complete shambles since Fergie and Gill left.

I can't wait to see the back of him.

His coward approach to football is tolerable if, and only if, you sweep the deck and win the trophies that matter. We are, despite significant spending in terms of both transfers and wages, a million miles away. It's just ninety minutes of pure, unadulterated misery to watch us play with the way he sets us up. And let's face it, he's never going to change.

My one glimmer of hope is that he never makes it past the third season at a club, so hopefully by this time next year we can start hoping for something better than the abject, pathetic, reactionary football we're currently being made to suffer at the altar of "progress".

That might of been the final straw for me to be honest. Been a huge Jose fan for the past 15 years and really thought he was the man to turn it around here but it isn't working. I know some will say 'we are second' etc, that's all well and good but we play horrendous football and are still a million miles away from winning either the league or champions league, so that makes it pointless.

How is Jose going to take us forward?

This is the best we will get out of him, he clearly can't coach the team any better than this. His football is dire, it's outdated and designed on clinging on for dear life. You just cannot do that.

Imagine us playing Barca/Real/Bayern and doing that against them? they'll tear us to pieces.

Jose has to either adapt NOW and start to play something with more courage, or he can leave ASAP. I don't subscribe into this "winning is all that matters" it's rubbish. Playing well = more results.

Hopefully this reaction is balanced and not too coloured by tonight's events.

Mourinho has got us well-organised defensively and generally bought well. He's also capable of producing brilliant tactics in the big games, as evinced by the victories against Chelsea last year and Liverpool on Saturday.

But his inherent cautiousness seems to beat us as often as it beats the opposition. Look at the Liverpool game: we had them beaten with a brilliant first half display, then sat back and almost squandered it.

Had we just gone for it against Sevilla we'd probably have beaten them. Instead we over-complicated things and lost to an inferior team.

Mou's tactics seem as much about proving his own intelligence as helping the team. They sometimes work but they backfire just as often and it's hard to escape the convulsion that Pep, klopp or poch would get more out of this squad.

So we should appreciate what JM has done in stabilising the club but, speaking personally, I'd be happy if he said he was leaving this summer.

Oh don’t worry guys. He said it pleases him that his team is sad. All is forgiven.

Seen this coming for a long time to be honest. We haven't looked good for months. Yes, we won against Liverpool, but that 2'nd half was still fecking embarrasing. Don't care if he flukes the FA-cup, like Wenger and LVG did.

He's too negative, and he'll never change.

Been a big fan of his.

But today is the first time I doubt he can move us forward.

He's like Capello. Absolutely world class in his day but he's past it now. Game has passed him by.

It's clear that he's the problem. How can Sevilla play composed, passing football with supposedly 'inferior' players? And a manager who couldnt even cut it in his own league (Serie A)? How can Klopp get Liverpool to play a certain way with lesser players?

He's got to go if we are to move forwards. Sanchez is a world class talent, he can't have suddenly lost it by moving to Manchester. The negative tactics have hamstrung our attacking players - strangely we saw what these players were capable of at the start of the season, but Jose's become more defensive as the season's wore on (probably because the stakes get higher).

I just can't fathom giving him another £250m to spend, and bringing in world class players, and then playing shite like this. We need to have standards like Real and Barca do - if you get knocked out of the last 16 with them, you would sacked that very night, especially when you are 16 points behind one of your biggest rivals in the league.

Intresting that in his interview he kinda contradicts his own beliefs about how defending is controlling the game but mentions Sevilla took control of the ball and controlled the game.
Also spoke a load of bull about the intensity.

If this was Bayern, Barca, or Real, he'd be dead man walking at this point. No question. And guess what? They actually win shit and play good football. So how about this "giving a manager time" shit, actually being, well......shit? Ferguson earned his time by being fecking awesome. Mourinho can just feck off.

He doesn't have the x factor that he used to. He used to raise his players game by his aura. That is gone. I'd rather see him go than another expensive purge of the squad. We have some fantastic player that look terrible under him at the moment.
I don't know, we still need additions in the summer and would needed it even if we went through tonight.

I've lost faith today. I'm officially Mou out. Pochettino is the better manager and I hope we can get him in. Spurs were unlucky to go out, we deserved to go out.
:lol::lol:

He's not fit to lace Jose's shoes. Neither is big part of our fanbase, you deserved Moyes and Van Gaal.

Actually Mourinho is very lucky to grind out the win in very poor years Europa league to make the champions league. As this season might have given him the sack with only one cup in his hands. Youd always expect little bit of a progress after the heavy spending and getting few wins against the top sides as these games can be pretty tactical but you can and I always expect him to feck up these days. It is unacceptable to make players like Pogbs, Martial etc play like this. Not scoring after two and a half of hours against fecking sevilla is damn bad and fans and board can ask questions like why is rashford not starting from the left. What the hell is fellaini doing in the lineup after not playing for so long and so many other questions. Mourinho never made us look dominant or like if we had a plan, everything is up to individual qualities of players which can fail easily with low motivation which should mainly be managers duty. I am not saying he should be sacked right now but even if we win Fa cup this season and score more/ win more games hes not taling us really forward. He should get a last season and show if he has balls and meanwhile we should be searching for a new true Manutd manager. This pragmatic approach hurts my eyes. I bet Mancity will beat them like 6:0 over two legs with ease if they draw them.

Both matches against Sevilla were a disgrace really. Sevilla is one of the worst teams in last 16, yet our tactical approach was to defend with absolutely no intention to score a goal even at today's game at OT. Seriously? It was so obvious they were going to score eventually and if not for their poor finishing, the tie could have been ended in the first game.

I understand going defensive if you are winning with 15-20 mins to go but doing it from the first minute? Against Sevilla? Playing at home? Our attacking movement is non existent as it's clear the players have only instructions on how to defend. It should be Sevilla trying to figure out how to stop us, not we stopping Sevilla.

Just watching his interview...He's gone full Moyes with his level of delusion.

At least have the balls to admit you made a mess of it ffs.

Mourinho: “The first goal will always be important in this match. We try since the first minute to be aggressive and intense. We didn’t score, Sevilla progressively hid the ball from us and controlled the game well.”

We tried to be aggressive and intense? Different match from him and the others.
How can we score after we sit back and didn't create any chances?

I get parking the bus vs Barca, Real or PSG.

I do not get parking the bus vs Sevilla, Newcastle and fecking Crystal Palace.

Counts for little when we're miles behind in 2nd in the league and losing CL ties with dreadful football.

Like others have said, the only reason to put up with shit football are trophies. We're out of contention for the two that matters.

Got it wrong in both legs, tonight was an embarrassment and sums up why we have no chance of catching city next season.
We won't. Win the league with him in charge. I'm convinced of it.

Shambles from him in both legs. All the talk this week banging on about how a club like United needs to be playing at this level and in the quarters, and he goes and sets us up like that. Awful, awful football.

That interview sums up the club these past 2 legs. 4 shots on target in both legs in the champions league.

Played Fellaini further forward and Lingard kind of as a false midfielder. Mata dropped, Sanchez and Rashford moved position. McTominay dropped. Not any visible attacking tactics other than hang it up for Fellaini.
Just throw anything that has worked the last few weeks to bring in Fellaini and tailor the tactics to his strengths.
Dreadful tactics.

Mou: "I've sat in this chair twice before, with Porto - Man Utd out, with Real Madrid - Man Utd out, so this is nothing new for this football club." #MUFC

Feck off Mourinho. Get out of my club.

I don't know, we still need additions in the summer and would needed it even if we went through tonight.

We've got plenty of cracking players already. Mourinho's teams in his glory days, Porto, Chelsea and Inter played with an unshakable belief in themselves that came from Mourinho. I just don't see that in his sides any more.
