Yeah totally. Plagued by FFP, under investigation for the Neymar buy, obligsted to buy Mbappe for 160 million pounds and now they are going to buy SMS for 100 million, why not.
You and I both know they will find a way to get around FFP so keep your snarky remarks to yourself

;)

Sandro seems like it’ll get done. So does Alderweireld. Fred/SMS looks likely as we’re heavily linked with them.

LB-CB-CM1 look like they’ll get done for certain...leaves us with CM2 (pending Fellaini leaving), RW, and RB.

Just give andreas pereira a chance for cm2

They may but I think they would likely stay low and try to attract as little attention as possible, at least in this window.
If they go out and spend another 300 million this year, UEFA maybe forced to act.

Is it even realistically possible than we would bring in 6 players in a shorter transfer window and also in a World Cup year?

Only way I see that happening is if we already have agreements in place for 1-2 players and are willing to spend in upwards of £200m+. If reports are to be believed then Sandro seems very close but I won't believe it till it is official. We have also been heavily linked with Fred, seems as if Jorginho is off to City, which frees us up to get Fred. My preference would have been Jorginho but only because I have seen him play several times and I believe his passing ability from midfield would help us immensely next season. Haven't seen much of Fred but I hear he is more of a box-to-box midfielder, so not sure how good his passing is.

I think we need 2 midfielders, a ball playing midfielder and a box-to-box midfielder. both who have the ability to play on the right hand side of a midfield 3, that's if we are to play a 3 man midfield with Matic holding and Pogba on the left of a 3.

I think Sandro, Alderweireld, and Fred, will be coming, which would be 3 very good signings. We also need a RB as Valencia is getting on now, and Fabinho would be a very good buy, as he could also fit in as a midfielder if Fellaini goes.

I do think that we need a right winger also. But there will be a few moving out, and trades could be done in Swap deals. We will have to wait and see.

I agree that Fabinho would be a useful option given his versatility.

Saw the link to Monaco's Sidibe, but not much elsewhere around the forum on it.

Imagine if we went big on two mid 20s top fullbacks, Aldy from Tottenham, a mobile mid and a right winger.

Although we'd probably still claim we needed another 4 players the next window too, it never ends!

Incoming Transfers
  • Lb: Alex Sandro - 45m
  • Center back: Alderweireld - 40m
  • Rb: Cedric Soares - 15m
  • CM: Fred - 30m
  • Winger: Sessegnon - 50m
Total - £180m

Outgoing transfers:
  • Martial - 70m
  • Blind - 10m
  • Darmian - 15m
  • Fellaini - 0
  • Carrick - 0
  • Pereira - 10m
  • Rojo (hopefully) - 20m
  • Mata (hopefully) - 15m
Total: £100-140m (dependent on last 2 leaving)

Budget is there for another big midfield or attacking purchase though. Just no idea who.

Sessegnon for £50m have you had a bang on the head?

Draxler, Tierney, Bale (using Martial), Alderweireld, (think that would be us done) not sure of a right back and see the rumours of SMS but not saw him enough to really comment.

Sessegnon for £50m have you had a bang on the head?

FFS I laughed my @rse off. 50 mil for feking Sessegnon. Why don't we throw 100mil at Tierney as well?
Not what I want to happen... just semi realistic things that I can see happening. Sessegnon I want but wont be much cheaper then 50m if at all. Others like Martial I definitely dont want out, Cedric I dont want in and probably would want Tierney. If we're talking the dream realistic scenario, would be this:
  • Tierney - 20m
  • Sessegnon - 30-40m
  • Jorginho - 40m
  • Right back - no idea
  • Alderweireld - 40m
  • Fred - 35m
  • Mahrez - 60m
But most of these aren't happening.

imo: While he's good, Sessengon should go for max 35 mil.
Tierney is a bit young, I'd take first option on him and let him spend a few more seasons at Celtic.
Jorginho looks to be off to the blue side.
Right back - Sidibe would be alright.
Toby -> This would improve our leadership a lot.
Fred - the most likely one to happen
Mahrez - god I hope this is happening, but City might snap him up. Also, he'd be too expensive for us. If we throw 60 mil on Mahrez and about 50-60 on Fred, much of the budget is lost.

Just saw Bayern apparently bid 60m for Bailey. Thats probably someone I would put ahead of Mahrez on my wishlist.
Fred though wont go for that much. Think he'll go for about 35m. Never heard big prices when his name was touted.

Right back there's loads of decent options, but nothing standout. Fabinho would be perfect as he can start at right back while also rotating in the middle. But Vrsaljko, Hysaj, Sidibe, all are decent but nothing special options IMO.

Anyway, those are my kind of "dream" options, while players who we'll probably go for are more Alex Sandro, Alderweireld, SMS, Willian, etc..

I'm 100 % of signing one CM and one full back, but I'm not sure if we're signing 6 players - it's realy a lot. It's going to be an interesting transfer window, can't wait.

I've been saying we need six players in these exact positions. That being said, I don't think we need six signings. Pereira should be one of the midfielders, and TFM should maybe get a shot at RB (this one is probably too risky)

Sergej Milinkovic Savic is a must get. We can't live or die by Pogbas injury record or form and having both in a midfield v lesser sides could help us overwhelm them ala Silva and KDB.

Fully agree.

Pogba is class but he has consistency issues along with nagging injuries that occur. Almost every big club in the world has 2 CMs that are close to one another in terms of their level and it’s a massive luxury to not be dependant on 1 every game knowing the other can pick up the slack and vice versa + both can for the most can just control play and win you games.

Like you say City have Silva+KDB. Madrid have Kroos+Modric. Barca had Iniesta+Busquets. Etc etc. This is something that goes unnoticed/undervalued but makes the worlds difference.

Please Lord get him all the players he wants and needs. Not sure I can endure another season of exaggerated whinning from the borderline fanboys over how much he's suffered in the transfer market.

Well everything’s in context. No ones saying he doesn’t have a budget but in comparison to the Sheikh’s even United are at a disadvantage.

...they spent the equivalent of what United spend every 2 years just last season alone and Pep said he doesn’t have a big enough budget. So yea, not exactly sure what your point is but yea José definitely is whining pointlessly without reason...

Edit:
and just to clarify so you’re aware - even if we get all the signings, we’d still be behind City considering the signings will be enough to match their CURRENT side yet they’re still going to make more signings just as every other team will which will only push them ahead again.

Just imagine if the likes of Leicester and Liverpool had that thinking. "Oh well, we are against teams that have spent more. It is ok to not win against those big boys."

Then over time, our fans would turn into the like of Spurs, who use net spend asthe source of expectation.

Wait for him to actually not get the players before inserting yourself in his ass with the excuses.

Hopefully at another club, really want him out. Failed two seasons in a row and is just living from his past glory these days. Too bad that PSG just signed another coach... Maybe a Chinese side needs a new shiny man at the sideline

Doesnt matter who the feck we sign. If Mourinho is still in charge, nothing will change.

Mozza once sang "oh, what difference does it make?"

I'm far too sick and tired of watching good players come here and play poorly, only to read the same pathetic plonkers bash one out to no marks from Lazio as if buying more players makes any difference.

this

it really is getting boring after years and years of this

A right winger would do us wonders. Being so one note isn't great and makes us easy to defend against.

He is certainly bonkers if he won't sign a new attacker in the summer. There is no way we can go in to a new season without buying at least a RW. A back-up striker would be nice as well.

I’m getting sick of the square pegs in round holes approach with team selection. We’ve been doing it for at least the past three seasons. It’s ludricrous for a big team like United.

No more of this wingers playing fullback and central attackers playing on the wing. It probably contributes to Utd having such a boring style of play and why the attack looks so disjointed. Our wide options are completely pants.
