José looking to sign 6 players in summer - 2CM, LB, RB, W, CB [Times]

I think Sandro, Alderweireld, and Fred, will be coming, which would be 3 very good signings. We also need a RB as Valencia is getting on now, and Fabinho would be a very good buy, as he could also fit in as a midfielder if Fellaini goes.

I do think that we need a right winger also. But there will be a few moving out, and trades could be done in Swap deals. We will have to wait and see.

I actually think young on the right would be better than Valencia as he can cross on the run and not have to cut back in like he does on the left.

I think we could get better there but I won’t be distraught if that is the case

I wonder what the lot of you would say when we sign all the players and still play shit.
We will José is the problem. Destructive manager who will always play this way, there was a reason why SAF didn't want hi, not saying that Moyes we as a great choice but it's so obvious that Mourinho was not the right choice for our club. Oh yeah and fire Woodward as well, he failed us with three managers, pathetic performance.

I would leave @haram to deal with you.

We have signed since Jose came in :

Ibrahimovic
Pogba
Miki
Bailly
------
Lindelof
Matic
Lukaku
Sanchez

So we're 8 players deep and so far 2-3 have them have worked out as we would have wanted when we signed them.

Ibrahimovic for a season, Matic and perhaps Lukaku

Are these 6 players that Mourinho supposedly wants us to sign really all going to work out? With his current record we'll be lucky if we make 2 undoubted improvements.

What are you on about?

Ibra - worked
(was our most relied on forward)

Lukaku - worked
(is our most relied on forward)

Matic - worked (is our most dependent midfielder)

Pogba - worked
(is our most talented player who makes or breaks games)

Bailly - worked
(he’s one of the leagues best CBs but unfortunately injured often)

Mkhi->Alexis - working
(...he joined midseason and still was MOTM for a few games)

Lindelof - undecided
(only because he doesn’t play but he’s fairly young so too early to come to any sort of conclusion)

So 6 out of 7 players worked and were/are relied on to be for sure starters for our team.

But somehow you twist it that Mourinho only had a couple work out. The feck are people on about, he hasn’t “missed” on a single one yet

Delusion.

None of these players has performed at top top level. None of them would be signed by Barca/Madrid on the basis of their preformances.

Very good players but maybe not good enough to compete for big trophies.

So you think all of our signings other than Lindelof (so far) have been exactly what we paid for and wanted from them?

Then why werent we able to compete for the title?

That's extremely generous.

do you really think Woodward will let Jose spunk another wad load of cash this summer?

I think he will because with Mourinho we're unlikely to do much better next season with the same players. So with Mourinho staying I think we will go all in again with plenty of money.

Then why werent we able to compete for the title?

More than half of our starters are average/subpar players. That needs to change regardless of who’s in charge. Unless your’re SAF, you can’t turn shit into gold and extract the most out such ordinary players.

Like I said, on our team only stapled starters are DDG, Pogba, Matic, Lukaku, Bailly, Sanchez (came in midseason/adjustment). Dave being the only player Mourinho didn’t bring in. The others are all players Mourinho got who are at the level of being actual starters bar Lindelof.

...why weren’t we able to compete? Bailly injured all year, Pogba for a good portion, so you’re left with DDG, Matic for majority of the season and Alexis who came in half way. There’s you’re reason. Rest of the players are garbage “starters” it’s pathetic. And again, we need new starters regardless of who the manager is. These players just aren’t starter material for United and it’s a disgrace honestly having to rely on such players.

Edit:
and what do you mean not compete for the title? We were in 2nd place. If we didn’t compete then no one did and if no one did then you can’t really blame Mourinho can you? Fact of the matter is City spent £285m this season alone. That’s the equivalent of 2 summer transfer windows for United in 1 year for them. They literally bought the league so not much United or anyone could do as we saw.

That's extremely generous.

Please elaborate. Put into not so generous terms for me because imho that’s just the reality of it. Not say they’re all crazy good world class players but they’re capable of getting the job done as starters, some being better/worse quality than others but generally speaking are starter material. If you think otherwise, go on then.

Gonna be a very depressing summer. I'm not looking forward to anything at the moment. Really starting to just give up on this current generation.

He's signed 8 players that according to you almost all of them were good signings and did exactly what we signed them to do. So we should have 8 out of 11 players doing great and just needing to change 3 players in the first team. And 1 of those is the best keeper in the world, so really its 2.

Is that where we are?

I think we're where I suggested initially. We have maybe 3 of those players we signed under Mourinho who have come in and done what was expected of them. We have a couple that are good and were here before Mourinho was. And then we still have plenty of improvement both from those players and signing new ones, away from being any threat to winning the title.

Uhhh, that’s not how it works so sorry you don’t understand basic stuff.

How can we have 8 players if Ibra retired and like I said Lindelof hasn’t played so too early to make a call on. Mkhi turned into Alexis, not that we signed Alexis on top of Mkhi which you’re making it out to be with the 8 when it’s actually 7. Currently we have 6 players who are active (minus Ibra) and 5 (minus Lindelof) relied on starters.

Pogba (CM), Matic (DM), Lukaku (ST), Bailly (CB), Alexis (LW). We haven’t even seen them play together like I said with Bailly out the whole year and Alexis joining midway so you should chill out. And yea, doesn’t change the fact we still need a starting level RW, LB, RB, CM, CB, while getting rid of deadweight shit players. So yea, thanks actually as Mourinho and United are right on track and in the process of doing that so you’ve helped prove that.

Do you think Ibrahimovic is retired?

Are you that dull?

Ibra was signed on a free first of all and everyone knew he only had a couple years in him as a stopgap player for us. 1st year he was one of the leagues best strikers and then he had an essentially career ending injury which derailed what quality was left in him and thus why he left to ride off in the sunset in America - because he unfortunately wasn’t at the level needed after injury and quite frankly there’s still a handful of players in that same boat who should go.

Again:

1 Ibra (injury ended him)
2 Pogba
3 Matic
4 Bailly
5 Lukaku
6 Mkhi->Alexis
7 Lindelof

...not 8, but 7. And actually expecting Ibra to be here for 5 odd years :wenger::lol:

I would only rank Zlatan and Matic as successful signings as it stands.

Pogba and Sanchez have been massive disappointments, Lukaku has his uses but lacks overall quality, and I think Bailly must be the most overrated player I've seen on this forum. Of course they are all "starter material", but that's more a reflection of the squad than anything else, and given the money spent/expectations that's not even the minimum that should be expected of them.

Mkhitaryen and Lindelof have been failures.

Do you have a history of replying to posts with a lot of text that has nothing to do with what they're talking about? Please let me know if thats the case and I'll put you on ignore now.

In that sense that’s fair.

Pogba still is damn effective for us. Even when he’s not, just having him on the field makes a worlds difference as our winning percentage is night and day with him regardless of form. Alexis yea he needs that adjustment period and joined midway so next season no excuses for him but he has had MOTM performances and has shown what he brings. Mkhi was a failure but turned into Alexis. Lindelof I wouldn’t say failure yet because he just doesn’t play. I have him as undetermined but I get what you’re saying. Still, that’s really only 1 player José got who isn’t starter material. Can’t really be mad at that as that’s a great percentage of hits all things considered.

Please do, you were putting my head in anyways with your irrational posts.

And nice to know you divert to this sort of behaviour when called on about misinformation. Good day to you too and definitely, Ibra was a massive miss on Mourinho’s part cant believe he got him for free!

The forum after a defeat is bad enough, but a cup final defeat obviously way worse!

Now I'm reading Bailly hasn't been a good signing? He's been good! Lindelof is the one that not even the most positive guy can claim that for yet.

Pogba may not be the level we're expecting, but he's still a quality player for us. Sanchez has had a bit more of a slow start and will be better used next year I'm sure.
Matic and Lukaku have done well.

Bring on the summer. If 3 of Jose's new signings of the 6 work out then we are laughing. We've just finished second in a very tough league with a team that is improving but lacks a few more key players to really click. Yes the likes of Klopp and Pochettino have absolutely annihilated Jose in terms of value for money in the transfer market in the last couple of years but finishing second and having a wad full of cash to improve is not a bad position to be in.

The fact of the matter is that when you looked at that team out there today it was a mentally weak Moyes/Van Gaal team due to injuries etc Too many light weight players out there or just not fully ready for the top - Herrera, Mata, Martial, Smalling, Jones, Rashford, Young.

We were finished once Fellaini and Lukaku were out. Great mystery what has happened to Bailly to be dumped on bench too. But if we land the players we are supposed to be landing such as Sidibe, Milinkovic-Savic, Alderweireld and Alex Sandro then happy days we can almost be guaranteed a much more solid mentally strong team next season.

Misinformation? Like pretending our players retire when they leave us to join another club? There you go, on ignore now. Wow this forum instantly feels less toxic. Awesome

Yea this forum is a tire fire when results don’t go our way. I try my best to stay level headed and not react emotionally or whatnot.

At least you and I can see all but Lindelof were(Ibra)/are the certain starters for United and everyone else still needs upgrading :)

Simple stats this season are played 56 Won 37 Drawn 7 Lost 12 GS 100 GC 38

No trophies and all the younger players are in decline!

Defeated in two finals against two top teams not Southampton and Ajax!

These stats are a slight improvement on last year but are pretty much similar to Jose stats at Chelsea 2nd period and Inter Milan, not in Madrid where his stats are superior and where a club like United demand attacking football.

Whoever Jose brings in, his reputation will be in tatters if he does not win a PL or CL next season and looking at that Gutless squad, it's hard to see that happening!

Jose has always been 'All substance no style', when he stops wining trophies he runs the risk of becoming a relic and yesterday's man.

Well do you think we can challenge for titles with Young and Valencia as full backs?

Regardless of managers, some players need to piss off.
