José Enrique - (Update:Liverpool bound)

Whatever happened with this? Left back, Into his final year on his contract, refusing to renew.

We could do with the cover at left back and could get him for under £10mill maybe.

Make it so

He's supposed to be the Clichy replacement but nothing seems to be actually happening.

Off to Liverpool for 6million.

Sky Sports sources understand that Liverpool have agreed a fee with Newcastle for Jose Enrique.
The 25-year-old has made it clear he does not want to extend his current contract at St James' Park, which has just one year left.
A number of clubs had been linked, but Liverpool were always reportedly in pole position and now they have made their move.
It is understood that a fee of £6million has been agreed between the two clubs and Enrique will now travel to Merseyside for a medical.
Newcastle will now be left hunting for a new left-back although they have already expressed an interest in PSV Eindhoven's Erik Pieters.

Good buy I think.

Cheap price for a decent player.

Lets see how he handles the 'pressure' of playing for a team like Liverpool.

He's not 17 year old, or a pacy winger/attacker.

Hence, he doesn't register on Arsene's radar as a player worthy of consideration.

very happy with both the player and fee.

My dream signing would have been Baines, but Enrique was my second choice. Glad we missed out on Clichy.

Does Wenger mean to sign a leftback at all or does he have yet another promising youngster coming through the ranks?

Baines is a better player but it'd never happen. How often do players move from Everton to Liverpool and vice versa?

Plus you'd never get Baines for £6m. They're talking £20m for Jags so what would Baines command?

I think you got the best left back you could get and got him at a feckin bargin. You're short of 1 decent CB and you've got a great starting 11.

Definitely a better signing than Clichy, a cracking signing for you lot.

Baines would've never happened.

By dream signing I mean stuff like: Aguero would've been another dream signing. Was never going to happen either.

Decent player but the price reflects he's no more than that.

Should provide a few assists for Carroll.

the price reflects a year left on his contract.

That is the first good signing that Liverpool have made this summer. I think the lad is class and solves a real issue for them at left back.

And the fact he is, at times, a little hit and miss....his final ball is sometimes a little wayward.

As Bruce Lee once said "stats don't hit back" :D

A very, very good buy for Liverpool. I don't get why City didn't go for him instead of Clichy and why Arsenal didn't line him up as a replacement, especially at that price.

I wouldn't want him. Looks like the quite right hand of a villain from the movies. Can't trust that face.

Enrique, as a stronger defender, is surely a better signing for Liverpool currently than Baines would have been anyway?

Will be interesting to see what their plans are with Aquilani now...

I'd say their plans haven't changed...keep hawking him to any Italian team that might be interested.

Does he really want to join Liverpool:
