José Enrique - (Update:Liverpool bound)

Yeah, he must have taken a big big step in these two years. I remember he was quite bad when he played in the PL two years ago. He's on another level now it seem.

The best LB in the league this season or at least easily one of the best.Very good defensively and his offensive contribution is very good

He's a very decent full back that has been caugh up in the mountain of mediocrity that is Newcastle United. He was very highly rated at Villareal and seems to be having a cracking season this year.

Never outpaced or outmuscled, defends well and tidy on the ball. Been extremely impressive so far this season.
That's a good statement. I look forward to seeing more of him in the future, he's still young as well and seem to get better and better.

Incredible transformation in his game from the first time he was in the Premiership. Not sure if it was just a confidence thing or gettin used to the speed of english football but i cant help but think he must have done serious work to his game behind the scenes. He seems to win his individual battle against every wide man he faces nowadays.

Enrique has impressed me. But Evra is 29 plus we have O'Shea and Fabio who can play there at LB so can't see it being a priority for us TBH.

I said it on here during the summer (and had the piss taken out of me) that Liverpool should have bought him instead of Konchesky. He's become a really good player and he's well suited to the PL. I doubt Mike Ashley would have turned down six or seven million quid either.

Phil Thompson's sources tell him Liverpool have secured Enrique's signature, according to TV2 Norway.

Very good signing for them, if true.

Bad move for Newcastle if true. What's his current contract situation?

Cracking player, mind, been really impressed with him this season.

15m.. wow
50m for Carrol and Enrique. Wasnt Ashley looking to sell the club not too long ago for as little as 100m?

If they are getting 15m for him then its a brilliant deal. Doubt it'd be that much

I know. fecking mental, isn't it? Good players, but you'd have got them for a fraction of that before the start of the season.

15m for Enrique is not a bad deal at all. But Ashley needs to use the money to buy good players for his club so they can stay up. They have always wanted money to spend and now they might get an extra 15m. They should use it smartly and buy 5-6 players instead of Ashely taking the money for himself.

Enrique maybe, but no one knew Carroll should start the season the way he did. He scored 11 goals in quick time and he showed he had a lot of potential barring the injuries he suffered now and then. Carroll would have cost only 1m at the start of the season though. A gamble teams should have taken?

15 is well over the top. Aurelio is better but is getting on in years, Enrique is a good premier league based pick although there are far better left backs out there. But the fee is awful. Glen Johnson again

I think he is better than Glen Johnson and is cheaper too.

A better defender yeah, more talented? No.

I know this might be harsh but Valencia signed a much better left back on a free transfer. And when he's been out with injury in the past few seasons, a young Spaniard came in and did a great job there. For me this young Spaniard is more likely to get capped by Spain - a team having trouble finding a good left back and continuing to rely on the aging Capdevila for almost all matches.

I'm positive that for £15 million Valencia would have allowed Liverpool to take Mathieu, a far better left back. One that would be top of my list if the rumours about Evra being off had turned out to be true.

But instead they want to spend it on the uncapped left back who is lower in the pecking order than Nacho Monreal and has less international experience than greats such as Asier Del Horno. Not value for money imo

If you think we'll end up paying £15m for him with a year left on his contract then I'm sure you'll be very mistaken. Closer to £5m I'd imagine.
