Jordan Henderson | New Athletic Interview: I strongly believe that me playing in Saudi Arabia is a positive thing

I have never met anyone who even remotely compared him to Gerrard. I think you are making this up.

I've never really heard Liverpool fans compare him to Gerrard, but it's evident from Henderson's demeanor that he fancies himself as Stevie G reincarnated.

We have twice the midfielder warming our bench in Herrera, meanwhile Hendo la' is Liverpool's captain.

Says something about the depth of our midfield compared to Pool's.

He looks like the kind of guy that waits for a woman to "let him know when she's got time".

I honestly don't know how he manages to play even at the level he does, he wouldn't get on the bench for United - or City, Spurs or Chelsea for that matter. He isn't even like Thomas Mueller in the way that Mueller looks so awkward and gangly but can play, he is just awkward-looking and can't play at all.
I remember a comment on this forum the year Gerrard's slip cost Liverpool the PL, somebody posted toward the end of the season something along the lines of "I can't believe Jordan Henderson is going to get a League winner's medal", you could sense the horror and disbelief of such a thing actually happening, but then they threw away the 3 goal lead at Palace (Suarez bubbling was hilarious) and Gerrard fell on his ass in the Chelsea game and that was it.
Liverpool used to have Gerrard in midfield, now they have Jordan Henderson, it's a bit like replacing Lukaku with Rooney.

Go back to 2012-14 season, Liverpool fans were very big on Henderson. Even when Gerrard , they had high hopes from Henderson. nothing to make up. Just stated what I had seen. Also, never said every Liverpool fan, but some did think him as a Gerrard esque leader

He's a 20 million Tom Cleverley and i don't know why he starts for England. Both of their game aspects are so eerily similiar

That was one long season.

Unsurprising that no one on here rates Henderson.

I'm more curious on how United fans rate Lallana. I actually really like his style of play.

Dont care much about him as player abilities wise but its funny how it looks like he found fastest way to cement his place @ Liverpool is to try and copy paste Gerrard, make it look like he never retired.

Carrick is still England's best holding midfielder and he's ancient and barely plays.

He's hard as nails I'll give him that.

Never Underestimate a NE lad its ruff as feck over there my family are in Boro not much to do other than fight.

He's disgustingly average. I hate Liverpool and I wouldn't even say he's Liverpool quality. And here he is, captain of the team  It sums Liverpool up these days, really.

He ranks as the player I'd most like to punch in the face in the whole of world football. Every time he sticks his gormless snarling mug into the middle of a situation that has nothing to do with him, I just want to see him get decked.
Me too, though I would start with Klopp.

It is nothing alike. Rooney started this season pretty good. He also has a much better football brain than Henderson. Rooney is just a bit worn out from all the miles on the clock. Henderson is and always has been terrible. He is just a hyped up Tom Cleverley, a lot of sideways and backwards passing.

In a way it is good that liverpool has a player like henderson. They wont challenge us

He clearly crapped his pants, you can see Costa backing off as he can't stand the smell.

I think he handled it well. The alternative was to push and shove and the usual bellend stuff. He done what a proffessional should do and he still gets slated.

His only decent attribute is his crossing; everything else is mediocre.

Drinkwater is a much better footballer IMO, and at least Cleverley knew how to keep a game ticking over.

Woeful player.

Both Hendo and Wijnaldum are playing consistently shit for club and country. It's like someone is holding their families hostage. Both players need dropping before more damage is done, well maybe too late for Holland.

It's perplexing what's happened though. Is it a Klopp effect?

You'd be hard pushed to find anyone bar Liverpool fans who rate him. He's so average for England as well, so most people have a genuine informed opinion on him.

Lallana, on the other hand, is one of Liverpool's best and most reliable players. He is also by far England's most consistent and IMO, best player. England miss him massively at the moment.

Yup, he's a fecking terrible player and I thought as much when he was at Newcastle. Bizarrely, Klopp bought him and completely changed his position because eh, he runs around a-lot? Ok.

Lallana's probably the only player England have who can play centrally that provide any creativity. Productivity was what was missing from his game but he started to add goals and assists last year and was pretty consistent.

I really rate his close-control, his ability to keep the ball in tight spaces is excellent. He's pretty good with both feet aswell, versatile as he can cover a number of positions and a hard-worker. Overall I think he's an important cog for England and equally should be for Liverpool, I just wonder where he's going to fit in to the side when he comes back with Coutinho, Mane and Salah all being key players at the moment.

He had this brief period where might step up but hes just restored back to mediocrity and some how he inherited the undroppable player mantle, usually reserved players that were actually once world class, Rooney , Gerrard etc. Its astonishing hes now got more caps than Carrick, that pretty much typifies England managers handling of the midfield for the last 15 years. Hes not that far behind Scholes, either..

Another midfielder, like Can, that I don't consider irreplaceable. Though there is the argument that the overall standard of midfielders isn't great - and he offers energy that not many others do.

You guys should consider getting a dog to play for you, those feckers can run for hours.

He looks better in a fast tempo end to end game as he has decent stamina. As soon as the game slows down and becomes more tactical/technical he looks absolutely lost.

He was the reason England looked so bad over those 2 qualifiers IMO, when Winks played he dictated the game and sped things up much better.

If we are planning on playing Henderson/Dier together then that'll never work.

Interesting player who really fits that role as a hybrid number 8/playmaker. Not convinced he’ll be able to replicate his level of goals/assists from last season, felt a little purple patchy.

The most English midfielder ever.

Must be annoying for Liverpool fans that he's the captain, he shouldn't be in their starting 11.
