I thought, with Smalling and Evra panicking, he was the one who kept calm when Fulham had a decent spell after Giggsy's legs went tonight(bless him.)

Hoping he builds on these last couple of performances and goes on a bit of a run.

Agree. I think the more he plays the better he'll become.

He did one of his trademark needless tackles from behind, should've seen yellow. An over eager ref could've given him red, which would be very harsh but not necessarily wrong.

No need to put yourself in that situation Jonathan.

Did well again with some good blocks and nice headers too. As many of you have said, was lucky not to get booked for the needless challenge from behind.

And again.

Agree with the above two posts. He has been good this season and getting back to his best but this is one habit he needs to work on. He dives in too easily at the moment. Needs to pick his moments better.

I presume he's not injured and he was subbed to avoid a red card which we could really not do with at the moment, needs to stop lunging in though. It's a tendency he's developed ever since he's been criticised for not being decisive enough, since that rough spell last year. He started to play better from the Liverpool FA Cup game but I have noticed from there on in he's lunged in a lot on the 50/50's, he's still young though and he'll learn.

The harsh critic in me says that he desperately needs to drop the studs-up lunges he has been making in the last few games that earned him needless yellows. Cut the shit out will ya?

We got lucky this was just Wigan at home and not a hard away game.

Were jones and smalling fit today, and were just being rested? Hope the Twins are back as well to give us some cover there. We can play carrick there too but we will need a good midfield so he'd be an option only if anderson/clev are back...

We are so unlucky with injuries..

Smalling and Jones should be back Saturday, I would imagine. Tonsilitis can't last too long.

Jones and Smalling were ill, may be back for the next game.

Ah, that's what I get for saying what would we do without him. Looks like we might have to start Fryers and Carrick! Thank god the next game is even easier.

I like him, he's been very good. Some messes up once or twice a game though...today it was his passing to opponents a couple of times at the start of the second half...if he can cut those mistakes out, he could be a great replacement for rio long term.

Very good game. He still has to have this one mandatory sloppy pass out of defense per game though but at the moment that makes him the man with one of the least mistakes in the team.
A comfortable game for him.

I thought i heard some boos directed at him, probably from the Bolton gimps who still beared a grudge over the Holden incident (was it last season?)
