Really surprised at many of the posts on here. Even though some of his comments are mindless I’m sure that many long-standing football fans agree with the gist of what Barton is saying.
I can only assume that a large percentage of the pro women involvement in men’s football lobby comes from the millenniums. Brainwashed automatons who can no longer think for themselves and are largely driven by social media crap.

Some of what he says is true but the vast majority of it is a complete load of rubbish. If all the male pundits and commentators were experts of their craft then he might perhaps have more of a leg to stand on but the majority of them barely have 2 braincells to rub together and very few of them are there for any reason other than they are ex-players that people will recognise. There are plenty of good football pundits out there who have never played the game but TV bosses want someone to be able to say "Thats Joe Cole innit".

The fact that football has changed so much in the past 20 years and yet we still have plenty of the men around these jobs who haven't kicked a ball in that long should tell you that just having played the mens game doesn't make you better than a woman that has played in the last 5 years.

I think the mistake you are making is assuming that many of the women involved in mens football are shit because they are women rather than just because they are shit. Most of the men involved around mens football commentary and punditry are shit as well,

Any shred of credibility that came with the meritocracy argument was thrown out of the window after he called 20 different people a cnut on Twitter.

Aluko needs dropping in the same way Savage, Mcmanaman and Keown need dropping and it’s got nothing to do with being female.

what's his views on the likes of Shaun Wright Phillips or Jenas as a pundit. I 'm not a fan of some of the female pundits he has called out, but I'm also not a fan of some of the male shite we get as well. A bad pundit is so, because he/she lacks insight and/or personality, not because of their sex. I always liked Higginbotham, his voice was a bit droll but he explained the tactical situations in games so well.

Not massively so, but he's the only other notable person I could think of with the same name. To a football fan of the 90s he kind of is.

I looked through a list of people on Wikipedia with that name and didn't recognise anyone else.

Dick Barton it is. There was also an English coach company decades ago called Barton's coaches. Their founder and original owner was in all likelihood named Barton. Unless Barton is a place (please feel free to look it up if you go on Wikipedia again). I think I went to school with a kid called Barton though that might be a trick of the mind. Other than that, I can't think of anyone renowned by the name of Barton either.

Probably was the name of the person who owned the coach company, although I do know there's Barton-upon-Irwell area of Salford. There's a small airport there called Barton aerodrome, not far from the Trafford Centre and Salford's rugby league stadium. There's a Barton Dock Road and a Barton Road nearby.
 
I saw something about him talking and/or doing commentary about one of Uniteds games, the 2-2 vs Spurs.... and in the space of like a 40 second clip, he got Rashford's age well off, how many goals he'd scored wrong, and totally guesstimated his salary while saying all these pretty much as facts.... isn't it this kind of fumbling and bluffing he's against?

Not surprised. He's done enough to get that clip to somehow insanely show up on my socials despite me not overly paying much attention to all this.
