Wait...what? That actually happened?

Yup, and it was on youtube for a long time too.

The rant Jones has the moment it's over was funny. Quite polite in person, nodding at everything and too cowardly to say anything to his face, and then insane accusations one second later.

the Peterson episode is wild, he clearly isn't mentally well at the moment..

I'm surprised there isn't more talk about his comments on trans people in that episode, it was absolutely bonkers
Is it just me or is Peterson getting worse? He seems a few screws looser these days.

He put himself into a medically induced coma to quit his drug addiction, and was unable to speak or write for weeks afterwards. He's a shell of his former self, even if his former self said some right shite.
That's actually quite sad. It shows. I have empathy for people with mental health and drug addiction issues.

Alex Jones is a coward. He's an evil scumbag but his shows of bravado are just an act. He truly is a cowardly little man.

being in the public eye and all the scrutiny that comes with is the worst place for you if you're struggling with your mental health

I hope he can find his way back to a good place

It does. Are you looking at the waybackmachine? Damien changed my name only a couple of years ago I think.
I first noticed it there, but then went to page 1 using the current site and it was the same. Now it's back to normal, I assume some weird caching mix-up

This latest episode with Randall Carlson is an example why I started being interested in Joe's podcast. It's time to weather the storm and drop controversial topics, it just ain't worth it. The show is far more important than COVID and COVID vaccine stuff.

This is probably very ignorant question, and I apologize in advance for it - is "n" word equally unacceptable everywhere or just USA when used in a language that is not an attempt to racially attack someone? This whole Rogan thing got me in a rabbit hole and came across a white chick who was singing in a concert and said "n" word which was part of the lyrics actually and she got slammed for it. https://www.bbc.com/news/newsbeat-44209141

I also remember Cavani saying something about Rashford in his twitter post, and I think that didn't go very well either. So USA and Britain have the same policy around it.

It’s all just a bit boring tbf. Rogan has clearly said some racist stuff judging by the videos...but (and this probably makes me a bad person) I don’t think it defines him. I think he’s a decent bloke.

"It doesn't seem fair. I feck just the one goat and they call me a goat fecker."

How is his show in any way important?

Perhaps in the context of a discussion about racism and racists language it is ok? Other than that is hard to think of a usage that isn't at best risky/inappropriate/cultural appropriation or at worst outright racist abuse. It isn't like it is that hard to avoid using it or other racist terms like yids or slopes etc

I am implying he should skip COVID and COVID vaccine topics on his podcast in the future, at least until we have bigger crisis, and we will. Probably very soon.

No, I do have a problem with it. It’s outrageous what he said! My point was I still don’t think he’s a bad guy.

You think good people regularly use racist slurs over an extended period?

It’s not that simple. The N word compilation is mostly taken out of context, it’s a mistake to use that word as a white personal but that doesn’t make a person a racist.

The planet of the apes story had me raising my eyebrows though...think it was cut from the video but even he himself said ‘that’s racist’.

And when he said black people have "a different brain"?

These weren't one-off mistaken comments. It was part of his worldview. And he's happily invited "controversial" commentators to have "meaningful" conversations that happen to share that worldview.

I think sizzling sausage's comments stands, in that context. You don't actually have a problem with racism, if you think people like that are good guys.

That's misrepresenting him a bit, I don't think he's ever said noone should take the covid vaccine, or is saying conspiracy theories that the vaccines have microchips/5G/they don't work. He is just of the opinion that younger people shouldn't take it because they are already at a very low risk of Covid. That's different from the anti-vax crowd from a few years ago he's talking about, who don't want to take the vaccine at all.

One thing though that I hope he realizes from this video, and something he now uses as a counter for the covid vaccine, is that he himself used to say there always be very rare side effects from vaccines/medicines due to the differences in human bodies, but that shouldn't invalidate the vaccine all together (as long as it is very rare, which it is for the covid vaccine).

Oh god yeh. Utterly bizarre. Not sure where he’s coming from with that.

But still a good guy though. Right?

I think he is yes. I find it difficult to write a person off for saying dumb shit at some point. If he really was genuinely racist that would be different.

Does merely saying some prejudiced or racist things at some point in the past make someone a racist? I find that a hard conclusion to come too.

I’m interested how you define someone as racist? Does using racial slurs not qualify that? Where’s the bar for you?

The bit I struggle with is context. With Rogans brain Comment for example. Why did he say that? Is it because he’s genuinely just a racist or has he read and misinterpreted widely criticised race vs IQ studies?

if it’s the second I wouldn’t immediately think he’s a racist.

I don't want to make fun of crying men, don't get me wrong, but Peterson does seem rather unstable. Far from the calm & collected interviews he gave years ago.

I'll gladly make fun of crying men if they are crying about Jesus.

Or: people say and do dumb things all the time. Doesn't necessarily mean they are vile racists. Just stupid and uneducated (on certain subjects)
