Joe Hart

Joe Hart for United?

Would be funny if City bought Schmeichel to replace Hart given they choose him earlier in their careers.

I would rather have Romero than Hart. Not sure if Hart is any better and even if he were slightly better he's a City legend.

I'm not a huge Hart fan but he's a better keeper than Romero.

People are basing their Romero opinion on a group of games against average teams, he looks a complete liability when consistently played against the top teams.

Oh hells no, I'd lose a little bit of myself if we signed Hart. It would be like finding out your bird used to date this complete pleb and then, at best, you'd love her a little less.

Ive never been a fan and always thought him to be really obnoxious and error prone but he would boost the english contingent and if jose rates him then id get on board.

I think we should be trying for someone better (an Oblak/Lloris level GK, anyone in the tier below DDG & Neuer), but there is some serious underrating of Joe Hart here. He makes mistakes often, but i'm sure if he didn't play for City this thread would be very different. He has very good reflexes and is also a big game player. We should aspire for better but people are talking about him in this thread as if he is Mignolet. He is a good goalkeeper, just not of the standard we require if we are trying to build a team to compete for the PL & CL every year.

Still, I would rather Romero be our first choice keeper than Hart. He has proven himself this season and is deserving of a chance if DDG leaves - if he goes down a level next season, it won't cost us as much as people think because our defence is so good, and we can always sign another keeper a year later (not a bad idea considering how few available options there are now). I think DDG is the best keeper in the world, but his importance to us is distorted by the fact that he had to make 10 one on one saves in every game under LVG. We are a different team (at least defensively) now, and people have to get used to the fact that we have no choice but to deal with a worse goalkeeper should DDG leave - we're clearly not signing Neuer.

Crazier things have happened, but I'd be shocked if Woody would sanction it. I think Woody would rather blow a wad on a foreign keeper (Donnarumma, Oblak), or even go bargain bin shopping among the other EPL keepers (i.e. Kasper, Pickford, etc) than pay for a City reject. It's almost akin to buying Mignolet or Karius from Liverpool - it just doesn't look right. Yeah, Hart is a winner & England keeper, but moving from a rival like City? I'm not even sure he'd be able to win over the fans, while ever clanger would start whispers of Agent Hart.

I don't think I could watch United any more if we signed this fecktard. Same as Vardy. I just couldn't sanction it while they were at the club.

Why can't we get linked to a top class goalkeeper :( First Kasper now Hart FFS, the quality of keeper we're being linked with is actually decreasing. Are we gonna try to re sign Kuszczak next?

 The massive caf meltdown alone would be worth it.

It would be mental for a few weeks but I think people would realise that he's not as bad as they think he is. Not saying he's top quality but he's better than Romero imo.

I've always said that we need more cnuts in our team.
I've said that about virtually every player we have been linked with.
I'd take Costa. Hell...I'd even take Suarez!
But there are 2 players who I draw the line with: J.Hart and J.Terry.

J.Hart is a decent keeper, but I think that you are seriously under-rating Romero.

I wouldn't say I'm underrating Romero. I like him. It's just he's had a below average career thus far. Truth be told, I just don't trust him long term.

I would prefer that to be honest.

"yes please" has two votes????? Presumably both City fans...

If Dave goes, Donnarumma, please.

A proper Jose team is so hard to score against defensively that the keeper can have very little to do in most games and endless clean sheets will do wonders for a keepers confidence. 2 seasons ago Joe Hart was borderline world class in a lot of peoples eyes then a few mistakes in big games for England and City turned him into a laughing stock. There's definitely talent there. I wouldn't say no at all

No.

Fcuk no. Hell no.

Why on earth would we sign 1) a City reject and 2) a really average (some would argue poor) goalkeeper?

That's not even going into the fact he's a cringe worthy try-hard with his macho man bullshit.

I don't want Joe Hart but people seem to be going way overboard with the recent keeper talk.

I seem to be alone in the thinking that the Keeper is least important member of the team. There are plenty of worse Keepers then Dave that have won the league and plenty more to come.

Look at the last few prem winners. Not many top keepers, he'll even Courtois isn't a great keeper (I'll explain why at some point). Hell even Mingolet almost won the league... Why?

Goals. That's all this league is, bang in the goals and you will have a chance at winning the League, Liverpool were proof of that.

David De Gea has been our best player for multiple years running but yet we haven't even been close to winning the league. If we were to have Bale, Ali and Kane banging in 20-30 goals each we would be much closer then any top defence and keeper to winning a title.

If Losing David De Gea means we get a brilliant attack then I'm all for it. Hell they don't even have to be that world famous.

I'm all for Willian, brilliant player, goals and set pieces. One good striker and another midfielder adding goals will see us advance much more as a team then buying a CB and Keeper will.

Yes, good teams are built from the back so no I don't want to lose De Gea. But if push came to shove we would be much better off with a bang average keeper and good attackers then we will ever be with Dave.

Think of all the amazing things De Gea has done, the penalty saves, the commanding catches, the insane saves and guess what? It doesn't matter because every team In history can let a goal in, there will always be unstoppable shots but if you score 2, who cares you win 2-1.

Long post I know but kind of bored of seeing people say X keeper isn't good enough for us when that's really not the issue with us not winning titles. We need goals.

Oh hell no to Hart, if City don't want him then United will stay well clear. I think Jose knows a decent keeper when he sees one and Hart is not United quality not as a number one.

This is kind of true in that an 8 out of 10 goalkeeper is both obtainable and almost indistinguishable from a 9 out of 10.

But keepers stay at clubs forever. They are the least transferred player so having a great one is key. They outlast every member of the back four and provide a point of continuity. Their careers are longer too.

Buffon cost 32m at a time that the most expensive outfield player was 'only' 46m. It looked like a ridiculous sum but it's been a bargain. 2m a year for one of the best goalkeepers ever.

Keeping De Gea is essential. If he goes, getting a great goalkeeper inside 12 months really matters.

Pickford is quality but lacks the stature Mourinho generally likes from his goalkeepers; Butland fits the bill if he's over his injury.

Hart has put in some of the best goalkeeping performances of any British club keeper in European competition in the past 5 years, so it's hyperbolic to write him off due to a chaotic 12 months.

He wouldn't be perfect, but I think he could succeed at United.

He grew up as a United fan as well...

Courtois, Lloris, De Gea, Cech, Oblak, Ter Stegen, Rico, Donarumma, Buffon, Szcesny, Reina, Pele, Trapp, Subasic.....

There's a list of keepers better than Joe fecking Hart. I don't even watch that much European football. He's bang average. Buy Forster, Butland or Heaton if we want an Englishman. They lack the experience but they have the talent.

Jose has to be trolling Pep.

We have a solid keeper in Romero. If De Gea leaves we should go for upside. Whoever we think the next De Gea or Neuer is. If he can't start for a year or he ends up struggling we can play Romero without falling apart. If that's Donnarumma then go get him.

Totally agree with you. I don't think either should ever be considered for the starting spot here

Just out of interest, what has Hart done to make you hate him more than Suarez??

I'd rather have my balls chewed off by a rat

Hart has made something like the second most mistakes leading directly to goals (keepers) in Serie A this season. He's a decent enough keeper but feck me, he's so, so error prone. Also comes across as an utter bellend.
