Joao Felix

Again, people who say they would let Pogba go to get this kid are completely out of their minds and shouldn't even be allowed to play Football Manager at this point. You're basically taking a huge step back for a step forward. It's a lateral move at best and shows no ambition from the club to become a contender. The only way Felix should be gotten is by not letting Pogba go and have those two be on the field together. People seriously underestimate how brilliant Pogba can be with great players around him.

Yes, it's dumb and thankfully an opinion not held by more than a handful.

Get him and Fernandes. I am sure we can have Pogba in the team and have the full back providing the width. :)

Honestly these kind of topics are good to promote discussion but never expect logic or rationality regarding potential signings.

This.

We lack creativity in the team, besides Pogba and Mata who’s physicality is a huge problem, we don’t have a player that can create chances.

We need someone who challenges Pogba for the starting spot, I think Fernandes is the one.

Regaeding Joao he can play as a false 9, I think his talent is wasted playing on the bands, he doesn’t fit right away in the current formation but he looks really special we sure can find a formation that suits him.

I’m aware Pogba can be phenomenal. I’ve seen it on occasion. I just don’t think he’s got the attitude to ever produce consistently what he could if his mentality matched his undoubted talents.

It's madness. We should have competition for places and quality in every position. Even 2 players in each one like the top squads. That's how titles are won. The attacking/creative burden can be shared between 2/3 players. Pogba himself will be challenged for his place only this squad has holes in its first 11 let alone the rotation options so if he didn't win the match it's very unlikely anyone will else will be doing so.

And what makes you think any other target you may go after would? Or better yet, who on this team has produced consistently out of all the outfield players?

I don't know I'm not scout, but we all know our attack lacks consistency. I don't see how we're going to solve that by signing more young players. With good scouting I'm sure we can find someone.
‘ Good scouting’ now there’s a thought

I think players' mentality varies. I think Pogba's is dreadful. Amazing player though, when he wants to be.

Fernandes doesn't look exceptional to me.

And it would be a grave mistake to ignore the desperate need for a right winger IMO. Rather go for Felix and a RW although that would be expensive.

Most people criticize Pogba for his inconsistency, off field antics of both him and his agent and unprofessional attitude when people expect him to be a leader on the field. To be honest we associate and want united players to be supremely talented professionals in the mould of Carrick and Scholes, whose fame never went to their heads and who we could rely upon week in week out. We can only tolerate a primadonna if you are as big a player for us as Cristiano or Cantona were. Which frankly he is not.

I agree but I don’t want someone to challenge Pogba but to have him share the burden creating chance. Currently if Pogba is marked out then our strikers don’t have much to feed on.

Playing Felix as the false 9 and having Martial and Rashford on either side cutting in will be perfect.

What’s wrong with Fernandes game currently? He reminds me of Herrera before he joined us. A player that is played in the advanced role and has high energy with a passing ability to slice and team and a very good striking rate. Unfortunately for us LVG cut that game out of him and made him a very defensive player, a good defensive midfielder I must say.

I think we must go for Felix and Sancho as these talents can take us to another level. But Sancho would be harder to attain at the moment unless he states he wants to leave and there’s a replacement for him.

I mean, look, with all due respect, while I've always liked him, Herrera isn't the level we should be looking to aim at.

It isn’t really possible to play Joao, Sancho and Pogba in their best positions at the same time.

Really?

McTominay (NEW CM)
Pogba

Sancho-Felix-Rashford

The interchanging among the front 3  I know this definitely won't happen, but still.

Since Félix isn’t a real 9 then he’s going to drop deeper than a classic centre-forward in a 4-3-3 and that means the wide forwards will have to be split strikers more than they are wingers. Something similar to how Lingard played behind Rashford and Tony at Spurs. Although he’d occupy the same starting position on a piece of paper for starting line-ups, Sancho is a completely different type of forward to the likes of Martial and Rashford.

I think if we had SAF managing Herrara he would had been the level we require. It is unfortunate that the managers that managed him in his time had under used him.

If we hired OGS after Moyes I believe Herrara would have been even better as a player for us.

You got it all wrong. With all crap player we got we need a formation adjusted to this. With this player and Sancho etc. we must have a generic system, not a static formation. If we get the right players the formation doesn't matter much

Every time I watch him play he just looks like a taller version of Özil to me. When things go his way very elegant with great passing ability and vision, but the moment the opponent applies pressing he shrinks to an average player. Loses the ball too often and looks lost sometimes. Its ok when you are 21. But Pogba is 26 already. He should be able to cope with this type of pressure. In one year he is 27 which is supposed to be the pinnacle of a footballers career.

24 goals for a midfielder is exceptional, surely?

Looks a real talent would be happy to pay out for him our recently marquee names haven’t exactly worked out so maybe a different approach is needed.

At his best, he can take the ball past 3-4 players, and withstand pressure. Again, I think it's all down to mentality. When the team isn't playing well enough, he needs to simplify his game and graft a lot more.

he's Kaka reincarnate.

But if we blow our budget on a kid who will need at least 2-3 years to come good then we can forget about winning the league in the near future.

There has to be a balance. Rashford is 21, Martial is 23. We need a proven, elite level player playing next to them not a 19 yr old kid.
Conversely you might win the league in 2-3 years if you actually focused on building a side over time instead of demanding short term players to be ready to challenge now.

Down that road lies mata, sanchez, Di Maria et al

Down the road also lies Liverpool.

We've signed players who've already peaked (sanchez, di maria ). On the other hand Liverpool have signed good players that were relatively younger but approaching their peak levels - Mane signed at 25 yr old, Salah (25), van Djik (26), Robertson (24). They now have a spine of great players, playing at their peak levels, around which they can nurture talented young players.

Similarly, City too had a spine of David Silva, Aguero, Komapny and Fernandinho around which first de Bryune and now Sterling and Sane have come good.

We dont have a spine of high class mature players. If we have enough money to blow 100 million on a 19yr old who "might" come good and then also go out and buy top level talent for all problem positions, then its fine by me. But if the money is limited (like it always is) then we have to prioritize.

.

Mane, Salah and Robertson were also players that loads on here dismissed as good enough for united due to not being big names at the time.

thats why loads on here dont know w@nk

Robertson's rise to being arguably the best LB is surprising. However, Mane and Salah were very obviously talented players who had productive seasons elsewhere before liverpool bought them.

Its fine if we go after Joao Felix, he's very obviously talented. But it would be foolish to put all our egss in the Felix basket. We also need more "ready made" players

We really don't. We need 'players who will suit us best'. Way more

Also guys....he is nothing at all like kaka. Kaka was a lot more explosive and I think a better talent coming through. I don’t know where these comparisons come from but the only thing him and kaka have a like is their hair...

Do you think Felix could play in midfield like Eriksen has shown at Spurs? Eriksen was a #10 at Ajax if I'm not mistaken, similar position to where Felix is playing now..

No Felix is more of a scorer than a creator. He will fit better in a system which allows him to peel off of a striker or drop deep.
