Joao Felix

Would struggle in the EPL I feel. Full of little tricks, and yes a great header, but didn't really put our slow defence under any pressure.
Maybe, feel like he could develop massively in the prem though. He'd certainly have to adapt, but don't see him being any less physical than Bruno.

He would storm the EPL under Pep or Klopp I reckon. Would flop with United.

Classy player, reminded me a bit of Kaka at times this evening- just seems to be able to gracefully explode from a standing start with the ball under perfect control.

Good header but didn’t do much after. A ridiculous overhead kick attempt ruining a rare attack after the goal should be coached out of him by now.

Yeah I see it the same way. Despite our fist half melt down they didn't really test de Gea. Nice header though.

Not seen much of him but he was bloody brilliant tonight. Has a burst of speed, and can turn on a sixpence. We pretty much had to resort to fouling him.

I think if we keep him and that left side quiet (Lindelof was a massive mistake) they didn't seem to have much else.

It's his attitude that was mainly in question not his ability. Plus Atletico style of play.

Certainly a really poor move given how much money paid. Should have done couple more years in Portugal at least.

Did they actually try to score any goals? I don't remember him being very good apart from 2 or 3 moments

He's a Guardiola player if I've ever seen one.
It is rumored Arteta wants him, but I don't know how a deal can be made when Atletico spent so much on him and he has a long contract. I just don't see Arsenal will pay 100m for his service, and not even 70m.

That wouldn’t happen. Unless Arsenal spend over 100m on him or give players in exchange.

Top player and he doesn’t do any theatrics. I’m surprised he isn’t a regular in the Portugal national team when i watched them in the last euros

Better comp would be Jota. He could develop along a similar fashion in three years' time.

Often linked with City but nothing more than that.
Had Bernardo left when he wanted to last summer I think we may have gone all out for him but now Bernardo has settled down somewhat and Haaland is the number one target I think Joao may have slipped down the list.

He's a bit rubbish, isn't he? Every time I see him play, he just seems to get dispossessed. He tries to look skilful but does not seem to pull anything off.

It seems like a fiat panda with the shell of a Ferrari.

140m? What were they thinking?

He was their best player against us and City tonight imo. Top talent. Funny how people see the game differently!

You must be joking. You watch our games against them, for example? He carried their counter on his own at times. He was their out-ball and we still couldn't deal with him. He'd be amazing at City, I think he'd fit in there better than a Kane or Haaland.

Odd take if you ask me. He was excellent again whilst feeding on scraps. Held the ball up quite well and the ref allowing City to manhandle him set the stage for all the handbags later on, I thought.

Personally I hope Chelsea go all out to sign him - if we can somehow manage to hoodwink Atleti into some sort of swap for Lukaku (though to be fair he'd be brilliant for a Simeone side), that would be the dream.

He’s pure class. Only Haaland would I prefer to him. If we are looking at spending 80m on Darwin and 100m+ on Kane then I’d rather spend big on him. I think he has a bit of everything to his game.

Tries to look skilful? He is very very skilful. Beautiful player who would look even better in a non Simeone system.

Seems like people are seeing something different to me. I saw a player who constantly got dispossessed and failed to keep hold of possession. Just had a look at the stats to see if I was mistaken, but it does seem to be supporting what I think this time:

5 dribbles attempted; 4 failed.
56% pass completion.
1 shot, which was off target

Total over the two legs
7 dribbles attempted; 1 success (14.2% success)
65% pass accuracy
1 chance created
1 shot (off target)
1 chance created

If that was a Manchester United player, I bet they would be getting panned for that. I just don't see how that is a good performance.

He would flourish in an attacking team.

Context matters - he was completely by himself and usually up against at least 3 City players. Managing 56% pass completion in that context is excellent.

Precisely this. Would flourish in a ETH team.

Felix out Nunez in would fit better for Atletico, and would then enable us to watch Felix in one of the top teams, I think they’d all be in for him

Joao Felix has been linked with a move to Manchester City for months in the Portuguese press and now a very interesting voice note has come to light throwing further doubt on the 22-year-old forward’s future at Atletico Madrid.

In the voice note, Felix’s agent Jorge Mendes admits that he didn’t want his client to join Atletico when he left Benfica in the summer of 2019. The Portuguese cost Atletico €127m at the time. But Mendes wanted Felix to choose Pep Guardiola’s City instead.

As well as Atletico and City, Manchester United and Real Madrid were also in the race to sign Felix. But Mendes was clear in his thinking. “The best thing for Joao Felix would be Guardiola’s Manchester City,” is what he said back then in comments carried by Record and Mundo Deportivo.

Under Pep Guardiola's guidance, he would have been talked about in the same breathe as Mbappe and Haaland.

For 100m+ I will go for 29 year old Harry Kane instead of Felix any time. Spurs won't sell though.

Love these kind of posts because it reminds me how clueless some people can be about football.

I'd love to have him in Pep's f9 role. Think he'd be great at City with Foden and Mahrez beside him. Wouldn't score a ton but would be an ideal tactical fit.

If I was City i'd be throwing all my money at Felix instead of Haaland.

As the poster above said, it would be a decent circle with Nunez heading there to replace him.

Few newspaper reports linking us with him today as it's emerged that Atleti want rid. Thoughts?
