Wasn't it Fergie who said if the right talent is out there, he needs to be signed no matter the squad situation. You wouldn't say no to a young Messi cause it would hamper fecking Rashford's development or Lukaku gets benched. A tactic or formation can be changed to accommodate deserving players, even become built around them.

Not a lot you can do if he wants to play for someone else. Maybe offer him insane amounts of money.

Look at what happened with Di Maria. Better to have someone who wants to play for united IMO.
 
Today's young talent probably see United as a top 4 contender and nothing else.

I get what you're saying, and I'm not against the idea of buying him, but a solid RW would surely bring us more success next season than this guy, you'd think?

They also bought Ronaldo and are trying to buy De Ligt / Umtiti as well as being linked with lots of other players. I suppose being the only big club in Italy helps.
 
If it is between us and city then its RIP to us.

Nobody chooses United over city anymore. If its juve then good luck to him.
 
An absolutely insane player. Already world class in my opinion. The only youth players iv seen in my lifetime who were better than him are Messi and Mbappe. I really hope we are in for him, however i wouldn't blame him for opting to go elsewhere considering our situation. As someone who also supports Benfica, i really hope United is scouting the whole team as there are many impressive players there who may become world class in the near future
 
Still needs to gain a lot of experience and I don't know if a move so soon would benefit the player. He's also having the advantadge of having a manager who coachs since he was in youth football, which helps a lot.

Having said that, and bare in mind that Félix basically only started to play November after Rui Vitória was sacked, he's doing a too good to be true season in terms of numbers.
 
He is next big thing. Reminds me of Kaka but with better tehnique. I want to see him in United but he is too expensive and we need to add few players more. Maybe next year if he stays in Benfica for 1 more year.
 
Been saying for a while, would rather him than Sancho. More talented and a more intelligent player. We have history with Portguese players, so who knows?

We'd have to probably deploy a diamond going forward though.

He plays nothing like Kaka though...but ya he should stay 1 more year at Benfica
 
He looks a good footballer, decent with the ball and clever with his passes....

Which means he'll never end up at United :wenger:

Not really. Of course the kid is talented but i dont see him as special as you or the media portrays. He is a Dybala type player except more mobile but way less refined.

Lets not forget how suitable his current environment is. For Benfica there's often acres of space to exploit between the lines (when teams are not flat out bought before the game. See Marítimo's coach publicly admitted he had his best players force yellows to miss Benfica match. Manager is an ex Benfica player and Benfica are in a final title race with same points as Porto). Happened with Sanchez and Jonas, the latter going from a reject in Valência to their best player of the last 15 years. Finally, he plays in a luxury position, behind the striker and having license to roam, forcing the team to play with two defensive mids against half decent teams. So take the hype with a pinch of salt otherwise you may be disappointed.

What I saw against a well organised but not brilliant Frankfurt side didn't fill me with awe. I recall one or two moments but...
 
I think he's a barca player.. they would probably be all over him if they didn't already have coutinho and dembele for squad depth. I think Sancho would have a better chance of success in the PL over him, unless we have a clear plan on how to play him if we do become interested.

They'd be all over him if they weren't shelling out a fortune for the two Ajax wonder kids. He'd be the perfect Suarez replacement.
 
To improve this United squad you don’t even need to sign the best!

You just need to sign players that are better than this lot, Sanchez, Lukaku, Matic, Lingard, Mata, Herrera, Martial...the list goes one!

If Felix wants to play with Ronnie then good luck to him, cross his name off the list and move on!

When I saw the thread title I raised an eyebrow, then I realized it just hadn't been changed for weeks. :lol:

He looks a cracking talent and I'd prefer him over the other Portuguese player we are getting heavily linked with, but right now, much like with Sancho, another kid attacker is not really what we need, we are already home to 2 massively hyped and paid attackers that don't deliver regularly.

Exactly. He's just a very talented young player which there are many of around the football world. As you yourself say we have plenty of those I. the squad already. We need an attacker that can produce at the very highest level upon joining here. He looks to have great vision but he's physically still growing and still trying to figure out his game off the ball. We should be nowhere near this one.

They signed Ronaldo for 100M and are paying him massive wages. To sign Felix should be doable for them just about. But to add De Ligt as well is only happening if they make a massive sale. Serie A just doesn't generate those sorts of funds from TV revenue, and their stadium is about 44K, and not always a sell out. Plus ticket prices are lower than in the PL. They are hugely reliant on CL revenue to stay in line with FFP. I could easily see them selling Sandro and Dybala. Umtiti seems a feasible signing, as he'll probably cost 50M. Felix will comfortably cost 80M+ given the level of interest in him.

It's also worth noting that Ronaldo is on 30M a season in wages. That is 625K a week. Just a quick note on the maths. One doesn't divide 30M by 52 weeks, as is often seen on the forums. Pay periods are typically split into 24 semi-monthly checks. Meaning the year is split up into 48 "weeks", as each pay period is covers a little over two weeks.

Those are massive wages for a club with Juve's turnover. He's also on a 4 year contract. and is 34. I don't care how good he is. He's 34. His influence is only going to wane. If we amortize his transfer fee over the course of his contract, and add his wages, his cost to the club is 1.146M a week. This is a lot of money. And while obviously fine when he is still performing as he is, - and hugely marketable, it stills seems a frightening amount to pay a 36-38 year old (which he will be in the final two years of his contract). There's a reason Real were ready to get rid. And even though they've had a tough year, that was ultimately brilliant business for them in the long term.

Time will tell how much this impacts Juve in the transfer market.

I really hope this happens as I'm getting fatigued by having to rely on squad players like Lingard and Mata to link between the midfield and attack. Both are good on their day, but frustratingly inconsistent. A player like Joao Felix would make us a much more consistent threat throughout 90 minutes and is less likely to pull off the disappearing act Lingard and Mata like to do for long periods during the game.

I thought FFP didn’t allow the owner to pump in money external to the clubs own account indefinitely (yes I know the oil sugar daddy teams make a mockery of this).

He was insane when they played at home, but in Frankfurt he didn't see much of the ball. Benfica all together played a really bad game in Germany. Haven't seen him in the Portuguese league though to say how good he is.

They brought Ronaldo Costa cancello bonnuci Perrin and favalli for about 220 million

That's a massive net spend even without factoring in the massive wages of Ronaldo and the rest of the players they brought

Didn't Fiat cover the Ronaldo transfer? It's Juventus so they must have done something shady to get him.
