Joao Felix / on loan to Chelsea

While he's quite brilliant, this guy can't hold up the ball as a 9 afaik? So spending a crazy amount on him would not be the wisest thing unless someone invents a way for Martial to stay fit all season long. A real 9 is what we need atm.
Agreed, but I think the idea with Felix would be to for him to be the deeper of the front 3, with Garnacho and Antony drifting in its as if he’s a second or third striker. Garnacho could find him well but Antony needs to work on his crosses although the cut backs would suit Felix as well.

how does he score most his goals? Is it with his head, getting on the end of a corner, driving through the middle. I’m not sure.if him and Bruno could share the 10 how would that work?

I think he'd fit eth's system so well and Athletico may be ready to cash in based on form and his lack of playing time. I've also read Athletico are in the middle of some serious financial issues so if we could get him on loan or for 70m we have to pull the trigger.
The idea is he presses well and is creative ?

Hope ETH is watching this world cup. Like many have said, he's fecking massively overrated.
Talented but no sane club would pay more than 80m for him. Plus, Felix and Bruno in the same lineup is a headache for any manager.

He is slow. Great technique and passing. But too slow for the Premier.
And where does he play? He can't play on the wing. He is not a center forward. He is not a midfielder. He is a second striker in a 4-4-2, but doesn't score, and Utd play with the winger.

He just scored, but I agree 100%.

It’s a joke that he should be a 120m player like Fabrizio Romano is preaching.

Like I absolutely would be interested If he was a 40m player. But he had been a bust at AtM. Any time someone plays physical against him he shrinks and throws in the towel.

His touch is world class. He can deliver the ball really well. He can carry the ball when he gets open space in front of him.

But overall he is not a player who makes a big difference in the PL. He has some potential, but we shouldn’t go overboard when estimating it. It’s not like he is 18 y/o.

Good player and all but a bit wimpy it has to be said. Goes down under any contact and writhes in pain

He presses well, he connects the play well with his back to goal, and as shown today he is an underrated finisher. Added bonus that he already appears to have good chemistry with Bruno.

The question mark for me regarding Joao Felix is whether he can handle the physicality of the EPL. He's a bit lightweight and defenders will definitely try to bully him if he arrives.

The ideal scenario is we get him on loan with an option to buy so we can take a wait and see approach.

Yeah loan with option is perfect scenario

Look at the top teams to see how many creative outlets they have. We have only one creative player that can also run and create space for others that is Bruno. We should be in for him.

The market is severely short on good CFs. He might be a stop gap as a CF but he's certainly much more than that in the long run and will provide us with another creative option.

You could probably count the number of players in world football superior to him in tightly contested areas on one hand...
All decent strikers around the world are good in tightly contested areas in and around the box because that is where they earn goals and money.

And if one argues Felix is not a genuine striker then why should we even want him when we are desparate for goals?

He reminds me of a Dennis Bergkamp-kind of forward. Will get you about 10 goals and 10 assists a year a season with some
wonder goals/dribbles per season.
but Don’t know if he can adapt to the punishing pace and power of the EPL

I'd certainly take him ahead of some other names being bandied around, but is he a real No.9?

Still a very young player. If ETH has an idea how to develop him to reach his full potential, this is the type of signing I would expect us making. Proper signing for the future.

Makes Geoffrey Kondogbia look like Tal Ben Haim

The usual thing is to blame Simeone, as if he has him handcuffed by his style of play and he's going to be reborn as soon as he's not with him, but on the other hand Simeone is not an idiot, and he has worked with attackers of a very high level turning them into stars.
A couple of days ago el Cholo was asked about Felix and he said that he had seen him very well, that it was an ideal tournament for him because it was "very short", which I suppose was a dig at his irregularity.
Maybe in another team he would double his number of goals and assists or maybe his disappearances would compensate for a worse but more consistent player.
I love the way he plays, technically he is very good but if I saw him from the stands I would surely say that he needs to wake up, as we say in Spanish, that he lacks blood in his veins.
If he was cheap I wouldn't mind him for Madrid but being until 2026 they are going to ask for 150 at least.

I remember saying he was a pretty average player after the Man City/Atletico games last season and I got panned on here for it. I really don't see it with him, whatsoever.

I think he belongs in the category of generational talents that Havertz is in.

Nah thanks, Martinez from Inter just seems to be the better option for the way forward. Never seen the hype about Felix, Atletico over spent on him
