Boring stuff.
Depends on what currency you look at. City will be able to say he isn't, Leipzig will be able to say he is.Damn. So Maguire is still the most expensive CB in the world.
Laporte surely. Ake just signed a new deal and Stones is pretty nailed on with Dias. Walker and Cancelo might also leave. You’d think at least one of Stones/Laporte/Ake will leave, now?
We’ve just signed Disasi but if we could’ve picked up either Stones or Laporte for a similar fee or even an extra £10m, I think that would’ve been a more prudent deal. Someone could get a bargain this summer.
Yep.Probably the most perfect player for their system they could have bought. Hope he flops hard, doubt he will.
Stones would definitely not be up for sale, and definitely not for that price. He’s one of the first names on the team sheet. I think you are right in Laporte though - somebody will get a bargain for him later this summer. You’d think at least one of Stones/Laporte/Ake will leave, now?

This is disingenuous we have Shaw and Martinez who play in Gvardiol’s position.Great signing for City, but hey, we've got Jonny Evans....honestly, our club only recovers and gets closer to the blue half when the Glazers finally leave.
Pisses me off the pull that lot have and the type of signings they can make the lottery winning, 115 charged bastards.
ps: not bitter.
Exactly. Wish he was right footed for once! So many good LCBs about. This is disingenuous we have Shaw and Martinez who play in Gvardiol’s position.
I think it's pretty obvious they get away with payment structure. They put full 80 mn upfront than structural pay of 100 mn over three four years.Wasn’t it reported that Leipzig wanted a bit more than £100m and were unpleased by the way City conducted their business with the player?
And just a week later City signed him for more than £20m less than what the unhappy selling club was asking?
Can’t say much other than what a nicely run club, they really do know how to do business
Its also been reported in german press that leipzig needed the money as there in ffp trouble. it was quoted in about april time they had to sell 3 players. gvardiol was one being mentioned.Wasn’t it reported that Leipzig wanted a bit more than £100m and were unpleased by the way City conducted their business with the player?

Good choice
Good choice
I would've preferred him.
Maguire cost us 87m€ and Gvardiol costs City 90m€. So most people in Europe will disagree with that if it makes you feel better.City paid less for this guy than we did Maguire.
How sad is that
