Jesse Lingard 'to leave on a free'

You got to feel for him. Don't think he's good enough to start for Utd or England given the competition, but he's definitely not 'young and learnin'' now and being sold false promises by the club is actively fecking up the lads career. Let him leave, he did great at West Ham, beyond money it\s fecking selfish to keep a player you won't play who could have a decent career elsewhere.
 
Jesse is a good player. At the right club he will shine. I wouldn't want to waste any more time in Disneyland either if it was my career. Nor would I want to line the Glazers' pockets by helping them get a transfer fee.
 
I hate everything about how this club is run.

Shambles from the top down. The fact that we were trying to give Jesse Lingard a new contract to begin with is an indictment of how incompetent we are.

After his pro-West Ham post I’d just terminate and pay up his contract. Get him out of the building now.

I want him to stay but I agree it is ridiculous that he wasn't sold in the summer given Ole clearly doesn't rate him, and he obviously doesn't rate him because he has given him very little game time in a team that is performing badly

That one bad decision has cost the club circa £25m and robbed the player of the best part of a season of his playing career

Quoting this as so many seem to be unaware of the context. I saw his post a few hours ago and surprised it's gathered so much attention. A pretty good goal too, probably one of the best he's scored. If we were playing Palace this weekend and they posted his FA Cup final goal, fairly sure he would repost that too.

I can’t really understand what has happened here. Lingard was obviously having a difficult time off the pitch and that impacted on it. He went to West Ham and was brilliant, completely rejuvenating his career. Ole wanted him back and he chose to fight for his place here. As far as I can see, he held up his end of the bargain: he’s looked generally very bright and he’s been very productive during his few opportunities. For whatever reason, he barely gets a look in still.

We’ll be weaker for his departure, but probably won’t realise it considering how poor Ole has used him.

Brandon Williams and Ethan Laird is another mess along similar lines when you plot it all out. We’ve somehow given Williams a generous senior contract after playing out of position, when Laird is more highly regarded in his actual position.
 
Outside of man city and Chelsea, he would be a very useful addition to any squad in the premier league, wonder if he will try going abroad, Dortmund would be a great fit for him

The revisionism of Lingard is mental. He is not Utd quality and has only ever put performances in when he plays in a counterattack system where he can run in to space. Give him the ball in tight areas and his touch is fuking scandalous which is ironic because his strongest attribute is his movement which he can’t exploit cause he is shit without time and space. That’s why he shone at West Ham and would do again...they fit. Utd have players who can recieve the ball in tight spaces but don’t use them (Mata, DVB, Sancho, Amad,) . Unless we are looking to play Oleball again...Jesse is fuk all use to us and I for one would love to see Elanga and Amad gets his few first team minutes when he does fuk off.

the club is fractured at the moment, the manager today looks like death warmed up and his brother was taking the piss out of Ole recently. No need
 
Is that IG thing for real? Absolute piss take if so. The only thing Ole has done stupid here is publicly promise him more game time. He's not better than what we've got, and if the team wasn't massively underperforming he wouldn't have a hope of a look in. The club did what it does in refuse this transfer market tap-in in the summer when, for once, a loan move proved successful. If he'd have been told publicly that he would find it very hard to get game time and there'd be no more loans, he'd have moved on and there would have been cash to augment the squad.

Same with Bailly.

It's not the what, it's the how, as it was done in the worst possible way: We lost out on a transfer fee by keeping him for this season, and don't use him anyway.

There's nothing wrong with keeping a player whose contract is running out. Sometimes getting another season from a good player is worth more than the transfer fee. But keeping a player who isn't so important to you while his contract is running out is just terrible management.
 
I think Ole genuinely intends to play them, then the games start and he realises he can't beat anyone if even a single one of his best players are rotated. He's so reliant on talent rotation is all it takes to struggle against mid table teams

agree but it's worse than that.

What does it say to the other players when you look at the Lingard situation and broken promises. It can only create a bad atmosphere and I'm shocked Lingard had been so mischievous with his post. A clear feck you to Ole as the manager smiles at the Presser.

If you are an aspiring European player do you fear am I going to be the next Van De Beek if I go to United?

Solskjaer and the management team needed to be more decisive on these. If they aren't going to play do the right thing.

Mind reading aside, the dross forward players have served up & playing Dan James who was half way out the door is indefensible.

He went to West Ham & showed he’s a decent player, given the shambles we’ve been this season he has every right to think he should have had more game time.

Cavani is always injured, Martial is Martial, Dan James was off, VdB simply doesn’t play, Rashford was injured. He should have played more for us this season.

It’s another prime piece of OgS mismanagement, nothing else.

From his side, it was worth a punt. Once he leaves United, he'll never play for a club this big again. So he give it one last year, hopes for the best and knows he has an escape route at the end of the season.
 
To be fair, the reason for this is because of the 'quality' of other players we have in his position, his previous rep here has overshadowed his recent form. Although I'd prefer to see the inform players rewarded and put on the team sheet over our so called superstars... t'was never going to happen lets be honest. This outcome is fairly inevitable, I don't think its worth trying to point blame for it anywhere.

Sure we could have made more effort to sell him in the summer, but what's £20mil nowadays? worth that just to have a good player on the bench.

International football doesn't really count. You get more time and space and loads of mediocre players play well for their country.

The way I see it is he had a purple patch at Westham. That's it - he was never really good enough for United so if he wants a pay rise and to be more than a squad player he can leave, as far as I'm concerned.

Who’s openly hoping we lose in regards to this Lingard scenario though. This Lingard situation isn’t a stick to beat OgS with, it’s another example of how badly he’s managed the squads he’s had.

You’re right openly hoping for the team to lose, isn’t supporting the team. Not sure what relevance that has the yet another example of OgS being bad at his job though.
