Who cares. It's not like you'll miss him.
Perhaps, as he’s under contract through the end of the season. But Ole isn’t playing him and he is costing the club 100+k/week, so other than the fact that West Ham is a direct competitor for fourth place, which may in the end be the only reason we don’t let Jesse go in January, there’s no reason to hold onto a player we have no use for.
I don't think West Ham are gonna keep this tempo up, but I certainly am not willing to risk it given our manager and own form. If any other club wants him, ship him out.
Why is this club so mismanaged? I mean he should have been sold years ago, no questions asked. Instead we're now letting two players leave next summer for free.
Jesse didn't want to go to West Ham in the summer, and is unlikely to want to go there now.
He'll hold out for getting a deal at a bigger club. Free agents often get taken a punt on, especially in a recovering market.

Personally, having watched Lingard's playing time this season, I'm not entirely sure why he hasn't had a lot more game time
I don't mind Lingard not getting chances, he is a decent player and not better than the first choice options we have. Problem is letting him go for free when we could have made decent money in the summer.
He had brilliant 6 months at West ham, had plenty of clubs interested in him. Ole wanted to keep him which was confirmed by Ole, Moyes and player himself and then Ole didn't even play him. Not sure what exactly is the point. IMO that's a selfish move from Ole, just to have one extra player who is so low in the pecking order.

Who can blame him for leaving this sinking ship, West Ham are currently a much better club and much more attractive prospect for players Which says it all.

More suited for Villa or Newcastle, theres a reason why we didnt try and sign him to a deal long before now. Would have preferred a fee for him but at least itll be a wage off the bill and a space added for someone with some quality.

That is all Ole’s fault. Keeping him made lots of sense to me as we need squad depth and I felt lingard’s versatility would provide that cover for bruno and the wingers especially after his performance at west ham. Why isn’t ole playing him is beyond any explanation. Why keep him if he wasn’t in his plans? We could have gotten some decent 20-25M from him. Now; a good player is going for free.

Ole is proving he just doesn't have the cut throat nature required to squad build effectively. I get he wanted a bigger squad due to covid/injuries but it just doesn't really work like that. We've got so many attacking players, so many good youngsters waiting to push through also.
I understand why Jesse wanted to give it 1 last chance, but realistically he was never going to be get ahead of Fernandes. I hope West Ham will give him another chance.

I’m surprised there’s not been much of a reaction to him doing that, he’s got every right to feel hard done by but posting that picture on his Instagram is pretty disrespectful. I remember Pogba being heavily criticised for wearing a Juventus shirt once, but you tend to get more leeway if you’re British from the media and fans.
He resposted something off the west ham account. It's not great optics but hey we're in the Ole era. Anything goes.
The more shocking part, if the reports are true is that Ole decided Lingard was going to be a part of the team early in the transfer window knowing well that he had Donny, Mata, Amad and was about to sign Sancho.
On a side note, I desperately wanted him sold to reinvest the money into a DM but I think we had difficulty shifting him for any “fee” due to his high wages. I’m not sure what midtable clubs pay their top earners but Lingard is on around £100k per week with us, right? Lingard would have needed to take a pay cut. Going for a free makes more sense if he wants to maintain that wages with a signing on fee etc.
I dont know why this is such a big deal- he isnt an elite player so the team are hardly missing out on anything if he goes.
Regarding the money - the dividends the Glazers take from the club are more of an issue than any fee they may have got for him.

This thread just feels like people want to believe whatever they can to attack Ole. Not even saying this to defend him, but there are conflicting reports and the vast majority seem happy to believe the one that reinforces their view.
I have no idea what's going on, but I think it's best for Jesse to leave if he wants consistent first-team football, something I don't think he was ever going to get this season. Considering Jessie is clearly someone who is 'online' a fair bit and definitely seems to look up what people say about him, the fact he posted that picture on the day multiple reports came out about how he is going to leave seems pretty unprofessional and overall disappointing.
Ultimately if he acts like that I don't want him in the team, even if he has every right to be angry at Ole. And with him starting James against Wolves after signing Ronaldo, I don't think he wanted to sell him either.
This is just the way football has gone now - if you put a footballer on an X years contract, expect them to fulfill that contract and then leave on a free.
The dividends going to all shareholders as been at 23.3m at the max and was at 10.7m last year. And beyond that dividends are a normal part of any company that has shareholders, losing valuable assets for nothing isn't normal and is quite obviously a larger issue since the former isn't one.
No Loans for Lingard or Pogba, Have their belongings removed from the first team changing rooms and make them train alone for the rest of the season. 2 weeks wages fine for any training sessions they miss. I would have implemented this during the summer.

There's ways around everything, remove them from the clubs Premier league and Champions league squad registration in January. The clubs manager can deem them not in his first team plans. Also they're not young players and not committed to the club so they can't be sent to the U23's to demoralize the youngsters. Therefore the best solution would be to have them train alone.
This used to be done all the time in the good old days when everybody weren't such delicate flowers.
Do you realize how daft your suggestion is? You are trying to take a moral high ground in case where the players are respecting the terms of their contract while you suggest that the club should actively punish them because you are not going to get money out of them, you are only suggesting that for money reason, for the bank accounts of the club. It's completely immoral and also illegal in many cases, it's also not something that used to be done all the time either.

I think it’s more to do with the fact we should have sold him in the summer. It was clear to everyone he wasn’t going to get minutes. Even £10-15m would have been more than enough. Why keep players for the sake of it?
Is that the best you have to answer? Surely you know that sanctioning someone that isn't in breach of a contract, someone that is fulfilling the terms of a contract that you both agreed upon shouldn't lead to punishments?

Not for breach of contract. The agent is employed by the player, he can only act on his bosses instruction. A Premier league club can only name a 25 man squad. Players with no commitment to the club should be behind the players who are committed.

Yeah, you can't punish him for this as he's not breached any rules as far as I can tell. I'd be shocked if we ever saw Jesse play for United again after this though.
It wouldn't be punishment for breaching contract. It would simply be a removal from the Premier League and Champions League squad registration due to no longer being in the managers tactical plans and removed from the first team altogether due to his social media post seriously unsettling the first team squad.
If you think Ole saying in the press Jesse has a part to play before the season was anything other than talking the player up akin to what he did with Sanchez before he went to Inter permanently I don't know what to tell you.

I don't care about the agent and this has nothing to do with agents. You suggested that you would sanction players for no actual reason, now you talk about long term commitment to the club which isn't an offence. And you seemingly don't realize that your suggestion is actually a legal ground for the players to leave for cause, they would be free agents and free to sign for whoever they want sooner.
No issues with us letting him go for free at the end of the season. He isn't really playing for us, so we shouldn't be looking to extend him. What is annoying though, is not just selling him in the last transfer window. He clearly isn't viewed as a rotation option at best, so if other clubs wanted him we should have let him go and made some money that could be reinvested into more important areas.
