What the heck does that it even mean, and how does Jesse demonstrate that? By being an utter bellend on social media? Here's an example that pissed me off at that time as we just missed out on top 4 a few years back.

The faith SAF put in him. The faith our academy coaches put in him even when everyone said he was too small. Growing up inside the club. People on here talk about the United way yet know feck all about it. They act like they care, but when it comes down to it, they dont.

Defending Scott, Rashford and Lingard on here since I’ve joined. These players understand.

His stats are utter shite:

15/16 25 apps, 4 goals
16/17 25 apps, 1 goal
17/18 33 apps, 8 goals
18/19 24 apps, 4 goals

4-5 goals a season on average, not good enough.

He is no goalscorer, but his best run of form for us came in the only period when he consistently got to play in his best position. He scored a lot of goals in that period too.

Sell, sell, sell.

How is it that our attacking trio of Martial, Rashford and Lingard seem to carry themselves like they're Real Madrid's or Barcelona's recent famous 3 headed attacks?

You can see how each one of them complain for non foul calls like peak Rooney or Ronaldo. Body language, selfish decision making, all of it. It's really something to witness.

18/19 24 apps, 4 goals, 3 assists in 1405 minutes

He doesn't score, he doesn't assist - what the fack does he do, dab?

Yup 17/18 was the season. 8 goals and 6 assists, that is what you get when you consistently play him in his best position.

It's better to see more people questioning if he's even good enough for the bench. Have to raise the standards beyond where someone was born and their work rate. Have to be able to do more on the ball, especially in the attacking positions.

That's his best season and it's still pretty poor.
Yes, it was the season where he consistently got to play in his main position, and the 'consistently' was barely 4months. He'd probably have done more if we didn't sign Sanchez and completely disrupt the whole frontline.

I'll be interested to see chance creation or key pass stats for Lingard. If they're low then all he's doing is having good movement without really doing anything with it.
Lingard is 13th in our team for key passes per game, (0.6) Behind Lukaku.
For dribbles per game he's 12th, (Alongside Herrera & Mata on 0.5)

He's on a whopping 4 goals & 2 assists in the league this season, (234.5 mins per goal/assist).

Man City & Liverpool's top players avg around 2 for key passes & dribbles. Guess who's the only player in our team putting up similar numbers? Pogba.

Just as a comparison, Sanchez who everyone laughs at has completed double the amount of key passes/game & more dribbles/game than him. He's actually got a better goals/assists per minute ratio too.

He's shocking. I'm sick of people absolutely slaughtering Pogba but them kissing Lingard's ass because he's homegrown and 'gets United'.

We have one too many players currently starting games for us that should be just back ups and Lingard is one of them players. It's not a surprise that we've struggled post SAF with Moyes, LVG and Mourinho giving players like Fellaini and Lingard plenty of game time, and our league finishes have reflected their inclusion.

Lingard quite frankly shouldn't be starting games for us next season. If he is, then we will be in a scrap for fourth. We need forwards who can change the game at the top level and who will befit the juggernaut that is Manchester United.

I hope we fix the RW position or even give a start to Chong who would do a better job than the non existent options we currently have. Personally i'd be elated to see Chong or even Gomes take his spot.

If you dont understand the difference between starting out wide and starting at number 10 then what can I say. The same thing happens with Mata. If you start at number 10 there is still another player occupying the right hand side. You hate Lingard anyway so what is the point of even discussing this with you.
If I hate Lingard anyway, you must confess that you are so far stuck in his ass it’s laughable. Get an excuse and hold on it, like s blind man to his pole. Which of the previous qualities that I listed he lacks would improve depending of where he is put at the starting board? None is the answer.

@Suedesi he is a runner. A new bred of of number 10s, who are actually shit at playing football.

He "gets United" while playing shite almost every season. That's an oxymoron there.

Your argument basically boils down 'he's an academy player' and that's about it. You could apply it to dozens of other players who aren't good enough to be here either.

Being here from a young age isn't enough to justify playing for a club of this size. Especially when you contribute as little as Lingard does.

Not surprised actually, Sanchez gets scrutinized because of his high wages but he’s a better option if I had to choose between him and Lingard.

They are two different types of players. Lingard is decent at what he does whilst being inconsistent because of having his position changed everytime, Sanchez has completely underwhelmed relative to expectation. Sure, he has some good moments where he gets a key pass or pushes past an oppo, but more often than not, the ball is stuck under his feet or he is ruining the team's flow and getting in other people's way.

Really think we should be looking to transition him to part of the midfield 3. Similar role to how he played for England at the World Cup.

He’s not got enough goals/assists in him to be part of the front 3.

How’s he going to play in midfield when he can’t pass? No wonder England were creatively shocking at the World Cup with him as one of the midfielders. We relied on set pieces besides Panama.

Those stats are pretty damning.

Not good enough for this club, although he starts for us. Says it all really.

I don't mind keeping him for depth, but he's just not a good player. Has a few good games and people act like he's a great player. Very, very average. And historically for this club, he's poor.

And add me as someone who can't stand his antics off the pitch, although I don't care about it that much really.

This season he's averaged 2.36 dribbles per 90 with a 58% success rate, you'd be lucky to find an attacking player at a top club with worse dribbling stats than that. In comparison, Sancho has averaged 8.26 dribbles per 90 with a 75% success rate.

This stats are not correct, with 100% inaccuracy.

What I don't understand about this forum is the way certain players get criticised far more than others. For instance, Martial has been largely pathetic since Ole was appointed caretaker recording a breathtaking 4 goals and 2 assists in that period but his thread has the Martial FC flags flying high. And then you have Jesse, the simply inferior Dabgard, who also has a breathtaking 4 goals and 2 assists in that period and he's back to getting destroyed to pieces by this place.

I do find it quite ironic that both showed their best form under the monster that was Mourinho.

Both showed their worst form under Mourinho as well, much bigger sample size (obviously). The problem is how a player of his calibre has been a regular starter for us for the last 3 seasons, it's no surprise we continue to struggle to regain our superiority.

Maybe because Martial is a few years younger and still developing, whereas Jesse should now be reaching his peak years? Also Martial has been in and out of the side through injury, so I don’t really think it’s a fair comparison to be honest.

Martial has played 168 games for United and, in case people are forgetting, was pretty fecking awesome in his first year here. Lingard, whilst older, has played 162 games for United.

Sorry to be that guy, but Lingard's scored 3 since Ole's took over :p

Average per 90 as well, which might be a different filter to what you were using on whoscored. Different sources always vary a bit.

I checked per 90 mins, no stat site says Sancho attempts or completes 10 dribbles per game.

Martial may be more talented but he’s clearly not fully matured as both a footballer and a person. Given Lingards age, it may be that we’ve already seen him at his best. Martial was brilliant in his first season when starting mainly as a striker. He’s probably not playing in his best position anymore which may be hampering his form, along with the inconsistency that comes with youth. I accept that Lingard may not always play in his best position either, but he doesn’t have the talent of Martial, and is therefore not afforded the same patience.

My apologies, that number was filtered across his whole career including the likes of England U17s. This season is 8.26 with 75%.

Same. And I say that as someone who thinks Sanchez is completely shot.

Do you have some examples of this claim, or'd you pull it our of your arsehole?
