Someone on the radio said that trent alexander arnold got more assists last season from right back than lingard has in his career. No idea if its true but would be depressingly funny if it is.

I know it looks bad because Lingard is an attacker and also a year older but that's not a fair comparison. Arnold plays in a far better team and is also on set pieces.

C'mon, stop it now guys...

Nothing annoys me more than when our fans buy into a media agenda and run with it.

He's young, single, no kids and rich...he took his friends on holiday and made a cringe video...but that is it!

Its also one season compared to five. And an attacker v a right back. And why do you think hes on set pieces and lingard isn't (its because hes a bit shit)

Lingard behaviour represents everything that is wrong with our club.

He is a bang average footballer that is acting like a world beater. He is a grown man and has a big influence over our kids. He is one of the poorest role models I have seen in any sport I follow. If Ole has any balls he makes an example of him and gets rid asap. Players like Lingard is a big reason why we are in this mess. Very unprofessional and living in their own bubble.

Hilarious... so it’s Lingard’s fault and not how the club is run?

I get you guys need a scapegoat. But Lingard is not it.

Have you just started following sport this week?

The long and the short of it is most people don't give a shit what kind of role model a player is, as long as he's performing as a part of a successful team. We've had the likes of Cantona and Keane do far worse than what Lingard did (though I agree posting a rating system of the state of his friends room is barbaric) and yet all is forgiven because they excelled on the pitch.

How insignificant do people's lives have to be in order for this kind of thing to effect them?

So what if he’s on set piece? We should expect all our midfielders to be able to take set pieces besides Matic. It’s clear Lingard isn’t good at set pieces and most of the good stuff he does is when he doesn’t touch the ball besides off the pitch. It’s also five seasons vs one.

Why is he acting like a world beater? He’s on holiday with his mates . If you don’t like him, don’t watch. He probably could tone it down, but he’s not going anyone any harm so why should he?

A poor role model. A guy that was physically behind most of his peers and stuck with it at United despite being loaned out a number of times and is now a first team player and an England international. The poorest you’ve seen in sport. Have you been following sport for a couple of weeks?

I don’t think he’s good enough to play every week, but the weird criticism for someone enjoying time off is ridiculous.

The guy is a bit childish, that's all. It really is harmless.

Unfortunately many of you are showing your age in this thread :)

Should he be in the first team? no. But that's not his fault it's the management.

Are we seriously considering offering him £130,000 per week?Withdraw the offer until he grows up,which maybe never.
His effect on Rashford is more worrying.

Nothing to do with age. This has been mentioned many times in this thread.

Somehow i feel there is an Ecosystem which defends Lingard till death. Its like he pays them for this.
His stats are well know but has anyone come across ONE and i mean One article in the media which questions his performance on the pitch?

I myself haven't seen one. The amount of Stick Pogba gets is unreal both on the Forum and from the Media. However Jesse lingard gets a free pass from the media. Simply because he is English.

Then there is the brood on Redcafe who i am sure are secret lovers of Jesse. Everytime someone points out what a shit game and had with zero impact out in the game they come telling us :

He makes great runs mate.
Works his ass off
Not his fault he is playing in the wrong position
He has had a bad game but he is just a squad player
Its Pogba's fault
Tactics are wrong we should play a different formation to get best out of Jesse
You just hate him because you cant stand his social media antics
its a media propaganda
Two Words : Ashley Young

And the list goes on. They would do everything to defend him like how an extremist defends his religion. The truth however stares right in the face. JLings is just an ordinary footballer and currently represents everything that is wrong with our Beloved club. He is drowning in his own hype and we do not even have characters who cant tell him about it.

Don't get me wrong i am not talking about his social media posts, those are cringeworthy anyways and have their own place and time. But what does he do on the pitch?

is he a leader : No
Is he a creator : No
is he a scorer : No
Is he a possession player : No
Is he a winger : No
Is he a midfielder : No
Is he a Number 10 : No
is he a 9.5 /8/6/ : No

What is Jesse? What does he bring to the table ? I can still stand everything if he at least showed some passion on the field. But Jesse as a player is just a coward. Always taking the easy option of passing back from where he got the ball and not even attempting the hard pass. Add to all this Rashford is slowly moving into the same Zone. If i were Ole i would sell Lingard. Rather give Andreas playing time than this Moron. But i know that wont happen and we have to keep watching this shit show humiliate the club time and again.

P.S: I would love it if anyone posts one Article where someone has called out his onfield performances.

We are supposedly wanting to give him a payrise. What for exactly? This just sums us up. Give rises to lads because they are a laugh in the dressing room. To me rises are for achievers and for players other clubs are interested in not for people who are more focused on their profile than their football career.

Nothing to do with age. This has been mentioned many times in this thread.
So what exactly is the issue? The guy is on holiday with his mates messing about. Have a day off ffs.

It's unfortunate the video got leaked by it wasn't the worst thing I've ever seen :wenger:

This is my biggest gripe too, if you look at the scrutiny the like of Pogba and Martial get both from the media and fans, I don't understand why Lingard and Rashford get a free pass in the press. The fans at least seem to be running out of patience with Lingard's performances. He needs to really improve this season or I think he'll be gone.

Fans didn't buy into the media agenda... If anything the media are finally siding with the fans' view.

I get you guys need a scapegoat. But Lingard is not it.

Ofcourse it's not Lingards fault, but that does not mean someone can't see him as the personification of the crappy state the club is in at the moment. That also does not mean someone is putting him up as the big scapegoat.
I can relate to people who think Lingard is a clear example of the state of our club.

Just an average player who has not been able to make his mark in a way that he actually gets to play more than 1850 PL minutes in a single season. Yet we gave him a 100k per week contract, which basicly means he will very hard to unload even if we wanted to. That is a plain and clear example of the current mismanagement at United if you ask me.

I've seen JLingz & Rash (thought it was Rashy?) latest block buster, Rich Famous Feckwitts (Part II) did anyone else think Feck that some view they got, seriously, did you see the fecker? Totally amazing, I'll never see it that for sure! And then it cuts to some toolbase humping a pillow WTF? I hope to feck he's a hanger-on and not a United player, if anyone knows can they update me please?

Anyway Lingard is near 27 years old and needs to grow up a hell of a lot over the next few weeks (I bet he can't) because he's over hyping himself and people are waiting to nail this wee child any chance they get!! Didn't SAF tell (i'm thinking Rooney but might be wrong) to get married, have kids and settle down? Perhaps Ole should tell Lingard to simply act his age?

Theres a bottle of booze in the scene, jlingz is slurry speech and cussing like a sailor which he never does. That's without debating the bragging about what the room has seen. Now that's fine behind closed doors in your downtime but don't post it on social media when the club is in crisis and you know your own fans are cheesed off at you anyway![/QUOTE]

I watched it again, you are right on both counts.
I often feel that on forums people are criticised and praised way to much for the slightest thing.
The things you pointed out, and an interview I heard made me reconsider some points of view.

In his case, to me he looks pretty immature a lot of the time.
You cant be that smart to present yourself in that manner to the world.
But Its not a crime to be immature and not so smart.
And many thousands of others his age, do that and a lot worse.

But as someone else correctly said, as a United player, you are expected to uphold certain standards of behaviour.
He is entitled to his personal life, but he signed up as a United player, and has to accept what goes with that.

On a personal level, and after the season United has just had, and in the way he performed on many occasions,
a smart person would lay low, only post videos that show you in a positive light.
And avoid giving your detractors more ammunition to criticise you with.

Seriously, have I missed a video? You’d think he’d been caught snorting lines of coke, or battering someone in a nightclub.

So what exactly is the issue? The guy is on holiday with his mates messing about. Have a day off ffs.

You’d have to be pretty naive to describe a snapchat video as being ‘leaked’. You’re literally sending it do loads of people and you know in advance they have the ability to share it.

The stupid video itself is not the issue. It’s his general childishness that gets me, and the worry that it’s not conducive to a good working atmosphere at the club. Not sure why everyone thinks that such an outlandish point of view

Probably because this does not help his cause. If you want to post videos, do it of gym training, that you are taking Ole's statement about fitness seriously. Away from the camera you can do what you want.

Didn't you hear? He said some swear words!

Did Holloway resign for bringing the clubs he managed into disrepute when he acted the goat in press conferences? His three tenures post-Blackpool haven't exactly been roaring successes so maybe if he'd spent less time thinking up amusing lines and more time on the training pitch he.. blah blah etc.

The truth is I didn't mind Holloway's pressers, they were pretty funny at times, so why's he allowed to do those while Lingard pricking around on social media is a sackable offence? I'm no fan of Lingard's antics but 'no way back'? Let's get real.

Hell of a claim to make in a thread which is specifically discussing an incident involving Lingard being heavily criticised in the press.

I know perfectly well how the app works.

I don't know the full story but I assume he either sent the video to a select few people (his private circle) and somebody shared the video, or he mistakenly put it on his story which shows it to everybody that's following him.

The guy clearly has a serious/professional attitude and works hard, he's never been described as lazy by any coach. Just because he can turn silly with his mates doesn't mean he's bad for the club.

I know it looks bad because Lingard is an attacker and also a year older but that's not a fair comparison. Arnold plays in a far better team and is also on set pieces.

Lingard is 26 and Alexander Arnold is 20 so he's 6 years older.

Why does everyone think he's this young up and coming kid? Lingard's at his peak and it's not great.

People need to look about the big picture with Lingard. He is a shit footballer, has shit stats, bellend of a person and certainly shouldnt be at this club anymore. Ole and our shitty club management have no clue what they're doing so that gives these guys a place (and a huge wage) at this club. The problems run deeper than just this silly video

So you’re saying that a famous footballer playing for Manchester United would be surprised when a video that he has effectively uploaded to the internet gets viewed by the public? Anyway, he’s apparently now said he didn’t mean to even share the video, so he’s obviously now realised how stupid he looks. I worry about the guys intelligence to be honest.

The performances of players that came through our academy and didn’t cost a bean come under less scrutiny than players who cost between 50 and 90 million quid? I think that’s definitely possible. Would you have any idea why that might be?
Well they're all first team players at United so surely they should all be held to the same standard? If we're serous about getting back to the top then we can't afford any passengers and out of our first team attackers, Lingard has quite easily contributed the least. So the lack of scrutiny in the press is unfair to me. I don't really care how much the players cost, what they do on the pitch is most important.

Back to the performances side. Due to the state of the first team playing squad over the last few years, the club have relied more and more on Jesse Lingard to become a first team player, and he has bought into the hype. That is not his fault, that is the club's fault and is a damning indictment of where we are in terms of quality. If the Di Maria signing had worked out then Lingard would never have become a first team player. Likewise if the club/recruitment concentrated on buying a RW who would actually improve our first team he wouldnt play.

Lingard is 26 and Alexander Arnold is 20 so he's 6 years older.

We all need to stop comparing players to TAA, he’s a bit of a one off. World Class at 20 so he’s going to put most to shame.

Is he English? Yes
Is he from our academy? Yes
Does he run? Sometimes

That's apparently all it takes to get into a Manchester United squad these days.
