Exactly. That's the thing with Lingard. I've been quite critical of the guy but all I want from him is a bit more consistency and to impose himself on games like he has in the second half. If he played like that more there would be no one on his back. After all, he is a local lad and as a person who seems great for squad morale. Just got to do a bit more on the pitch.

Had a really good spell in the match today after being anonymous but still not good enough in my opinion. First premier league goal in 13 months says a lot. Delighted he did well and wished I never had this opinion but it's what I think of him.
His best non-Wembley performance for us and that goal was pure

Problem is we don't face sides like Middlesbrough who give up so much space in the final third every week . They were terrible at the back .

He has plenty of pace and a very decent shot on him. He has a knack of getting important goals. Deserved MOTM today.

That was a brilliant goal. It's all about end product with Lingard. If he can play with that bit more conviction - I'm thinking about some of those through balls he tried to Rashford that weren't quite right - then he'd come in for a lot more praise. The way he glides through the pitch is great as it is.
I would love to see martial & Rashford upfront with lingard behind them centrally. Obviously not against the big teams but on occasion I think it would be brilliant.

Loved the way he ran with the ball today, really opened up space for Rashford and Mata to make their runs. Great goal too. An able deputy in Mkhi's absence.
Good goal and ran the ball out well when he got the chance.
So good at carrying the ball forward if given even an inch of space. Looked really confident and took matters in his own hands when it mattered. Also linked up our play very well going forward. Basically did what i expected/hoped Mata would do, as the senior player from our attackers.

I'm not a fan, but he was superb today, not just the goal but his all round game. More of the same and he'll change my opinion of him.
Links up well with Rashford. So glad he took a shot, as he does have a decent strike from outside the box. Would like to see him do more of that.

This is the level we want and expect Jesse to perform at more. Did a great job working between the lines, and carrying the ball between the thirds. Wonderful goal to boot.
He is much better than a lot of fans give him credit for. He just needs to add the composure to go with it. When Jesse's head is right though he's a great option.

Played well today, a couple of moments when I thought he was just wandering about but best player on the park for me.

He had a bit more freedom to drift today (usually he only does it in the final third) and he benefited from finding pockets of space centrally. He carried the ball really well and scored a lovely goal I just wish he was a bit sharper with some of his decisions in similar situations. Picked a few nice passes as well.
