God awful so far
I said he wasn't good enough a year ago and I stand by that. He's 24 now and should be showing a lot more. One great goal or assist every 5-6 games doesn't change that.

James McClean has fantastic pace too. Doesn't matter a bit if you're not technically good enough.
It's not just in the air to be fair, he's just a terrible finisher in general.
I hear people say he's the new Park, as in he runs around a lot and creates space for his more naturally gifted team mates, but he's nowhere near as good as Park was, plus we have too many average players to have a player like him in the starting team.
This is why I want him to play in the center - he isn't all that great of a passer - but his running in to channels to make space is really good. If we do plan on playing pacey forwards like Rashford & Martial - Lingard is better suited in the middle of both which should allow the strikers to move in to space whilst lingard occupies the tertiary role.
I also weirdly like how mkhitareayn plays from deep.

His off the ball movement is better than on the ball. Hes a fine squad player. Dont mind him starting games like this tbh.

We do support this team, that's why we don't want this waste of space anywhere near it.
These are the type of games which show up his limitations. He's a waste of space in these type of games.. too passive. I prefer it when he comes off the bench or he has to perform a specific tactical role. In this game it's like a free widenrole and he doesn't have any conviction to his game.
Martial is being double-teamed at all times. They're leaving Lingard alone and paying more attention to Young on the right. Reflects the danger levels.

I hesitate to call him bang average but certainly not United quality and I don't think he's really good enough to be a squad player, sentimentality regarding him representing United DNA will keep him around for a few more years yet though.

Very poor today. Don't like him starting even in games likes today. Don't mind him coming off the bench late on in games but that's about it.
I genuinely think he's regressed this season. He's been largely terrible.
I hate extremely words like "disgraceful" and "embarrassing", but he was offensive to me today. A squad player getting a chance in a cup game and that is what he shows? If he doesnt play well in games like this what exactly is he still doing at the club? Absolute shite.
Yeah he's shite, but so what? He's only a squad player. It's acceptable to be shit if you're only a squad player...apparently.
