Kinell Jesse! Think he's been great tonight even outside of the goal and assist. Our right side looks very strong tonight.

Until Mkhitaryan finds his form, Lingard is my first choice for the RW position. He's been so for a few months now.

soone of those players that for me consistantly breaks down our attacks, but has an assist and a worldie to his name tonight, 8/10 on that basis alone

Has already been directly involved in 4 goals in only 6 games this season. Hope that´s a sign that we´ll see a bit more consistency from him in front of the goal, be it as a finisher himself or creator.

His consistency remains an issue - even during games he can go missing for too long - but he seems to feature regularly in some of our best and most fluid moments. And this goes back to last year.

Fair enough. His position is also an issue for me, too often he is central but gets in the way while no one is out wide.

Not sure if you got my intention but I was praising him. If you go back to last season and pick out some of our best goals or best attacking moves, there's probably a good chance that Lingard is involved. He's always looking to create good link-ups and when it pays off it often results in some of our best attacking moves.

I just wish it was more consistent. Although that's also a flaw with the team as a whole.

He's been one of our consistently good attackers whenever he's played bar one game, but that's getting in the way of the obligatory dig
Playing football well doesn't mean you're a good footballer. Apparently.

I really like him as part of our squad, and hes doing well for us.

But im expecting a poor game and this thread to be filled with "not good enough" comments again :P

So anyone changed their opinion on Lingard these days. A lot of people have been putting him down... I think he shows with regularity that he's got what it takes to be a United player and he offers us something different.

He's a better player in his position(s) than Phil Neville was, John O'Shea and Nicky Butt. They are remembered fondly. He can still get better. Really don't get the criticism that he often gets on here. He's quality.

He is so underrated. He will be here for years to come, I think.

He'll be underrated here for years to come too. This general acceptance that he's a good player, no caveats, generally lasts about 24 hours after each good performance and then the caf is back to 20% of us continuing to believe that and 80% reverting to their begrudging 'he can be a good squad player' attitude.

He has been consistently good so far this season, the city game was a outlier but I expect some to bizarrely continue using it against him
Indeed, he's been a key component of the team when we've played well, bar that City game in which Mikhi looked poo as well but people keep clamouring for him to return.

He's had a steady climb up since that horrendous City game. Good to see.

I think Lingard was arguably man of the match tonight. He was man of the match for both England games, so it is nice to see him continue his form for club.

A poor man's Willian, who Jose loved at Chelsea. Someone quick/fast who puts in a good shift & does exactly what Jose asks of him (barring the Citeh game) and pops the odd goal or two. Both add balance to the team as they both do a good deal of defensive work since they aren't the recognized stars of the team.

Every team needs a Lingard

Pretty much. He's never going to be a first XI mainstay, but then I don't think anyone is clamouring for him to be either..

We've entered this weird post FM/FIFA age where some fans genuinely seem to think every single squad position needs to be filled with a world class surrogate...which is complete bollocks, not to mention wholely impractical.

Lingard is pretty much the perfect squad player (if he stays on this path, quality wise) He tenacious, links up well, follows instructions and can score a worldie every now and then. He's not gonna win POTY but he might pop up with the winner in a Cup Final. He could be like Park mixed with Lee Sharpe, only an academy graduate! Which should ideally make everyone really happy... Ideally.

But then "ideally" doesn't take into consideration what miserable cnuts people are, of course.

I'm really happy for him. I wanted to see him be given the chance for years, and when he finally got it in the 14/15 season, only to get injured on his debut, I thought that was it. The fact that he's gone on to become one of José's go to players is a credit to the guy.

He is a good squad player for us and does a great job for jose and he also appreaers to get on well with others in the dressing room which is always nice.

lingard is also an academy graduate so it saves us about 15 million getting in a s similar sort of player

Looks like he has a great relationship with Pogba and Rashford as well. While I understand that some people dislike Lingard due to his antics on social media, I feel like that sort of bubbly personality is crucial in the dressing room. Important player for the team both on the field and off it imo.

Close to end of last season . someone here bashed me and told he will eat his shit when I pointed out Lingard could involve in atleast 15 goals next season ( goals + assists ) . Hope he stays true to his word :P

Really happy that people now understands that we play better as team when he is in the team . He brings the balance to the team . Would love to see a mid trio of Mikhi-Herrera-Pogba , flanked by Lingard and Martial but dont think that will happen under Jose .
