If that is the quality level of the strikers available, United should make a pitch for Darren Bent. He is better than Defoe and would probably be cheaper. But I think that United should be looking at a quality level higher than both Defoe and Bent.

Defoe is an OK player, but £15 million. Someones got to be on a WUM somewhere because if Ruud is only worth £12 million then Defoe shouldnt cost anything above £8 million, and even thats being generous.

Oh my god. This is becoming something of a joke now. Defoe isnt worth more than about 6 or 7 million and still i would want us to sign him. I would rather us not sign a striker than get Defoe. I wouldnt want Defoe even if he is on free. I mean, why limiting the chances of a geniune talent (Rossi) of making it at the highest level to bring in an average overrated striker? Agreed, considering Ruud was the out and out most in form striker in the prem last season while Defoe could not even start for Spurs, if Ruuds worth 15mil then Defoe is worth no more than half of that.
