Anyone who knows about him how is his pace? Can’t seem to make out from the videos. Is he fast or is he okayish?

Excellent long term Varane replacement

Unless injuries have slowed him down from when I last watched him, he’s rapid.

He is very quick. He covers a lot of space in behind the RB and has had great duels with Mbappe and kept him in check, there is a lot to like about him.

Shaw is decent cover for Martinez. It's just unfortunate that moving him to centre back weakens us at left back. Especially when considering that our right backs are sub optimal. I'm not against Todibo, though I'm unsure if he is the answer as our long term successor to Varane or whether he is simply decent competition.

If young Fernandez doesn’t go out on loan then we’re good at left back IF Shaw has to be moved inside, from what I’ve seen of Fernandez he’s better than Malacia.

I think he's a much better player potentially than Malacia. However, he needs to improve defensively and to do that he needs games. A loan makes sense.

Yeah just like I thought missing out on Min-Jae actually feels like an utterly dreadful mistake
Nah, there's just way more very good options in central defence than there is in the positions that we addressed this season like centre forward, midfield and goalkeeper. Think we prioritised fairly well and can pick up the next flavour of the month centre back next summer (Diomande or Antonio Silva both look excellent as potential long term successors for Varane).

the thought of him next to Martinez is starting to marinate the meat

Jesus, how many CBs do you want!!
Well only three of those are specialist centre backs and everyone of them has had injury concerns in recent years so imho, it would be very risky relying on them all staying fit.

I remember seeing Todibo in one game last year and was very impressed. He completely shut down his opposition player (think he must have been playing RCB in a back three or at full back). Probably the exact profile you want for a back up centre back. Quite skilled but not so good that he won't be happy to defer to Varane when he's fit. I like that he's well able to pass and carry from defence too.

There isn't really anything wrong with his carrying/dribbling. It's just that he plays next to 39 year old Dante and defending the channel or space in-behind is more of a requirement.

Below is one example when he was 19 of his ability to resist the press and progress play via a carry/dribble.

That was quite progressive

It's a fairly uneducated and crude opinion but based on the little snippets of video I like the look of him a bit more than Disasi. Physically looks capable but you need a lot more than that at this level so we'd have to see. But on the face of it looks reasonable for a budget centre back.

Well, at least you're honest. That makes you the opposite of most people here, who like to give the impression they've been following him since birth.

Honestly not watched him play, but from what posters are saying, it seems like he'd be a good signing.

Yeah him & Amrabat would be cracking end to window. I know we still have issues at RB and backup ST which need to be addressed

Saw one clip and his one on one defending and dribbling looks classy. How’s his short passing as in those he just keeps hammering the ball as if he hates it?

Needs someone who has watched him more to comment on that side of his game

What's the reason he was sold by Barca?
Why didn't you succeed?
"I didn't succeed at Barça because there were very great players in front of me. I also had a coach, Valverde, who was under pressure, so it was normal for him to put Gerard Piqué rather than a 19-year-old player without experience."

What have you learned from your previous experiences?
"Schalke is where I learned the most from a human point of view. They gave me everything I needed, I had playing time, but unfortunately we were cut off by the lockdown, and when I returned (summer 2020) , I lacked humility. I slacked off, I disrespected all the people who trusted me at the club. I apologized to them. So I learned a lot. My three experiences at Barcelona, Schalke and Benfica made me a new man."

Sounds like he's self aware and relatively mature for his age.

This guy and Amrabat being signed would make this a 10/10 window for the club. It would be far beyond what I expected us to do this summer and would raise the quality level in the team so much.

How are people saying he fits the profile of a 4th CB? He seems to be the antithesis of that as he needs [lots] or PT and development, which, if Varane is as fit as we hope, he's not going to get here. He's not the finished article so how would he benefit more from being here than remaining - or going to - wherever he plays every game?

Surely he’d be 3rd choice. Lindelof finished last season very well but in general he’s been underwhelming over a long period now.

Looking at his record last year it looks like he played six times at RB. Maybe he has a plan similar to Timber.

He's 23, has 110 league games under his belt across 3 different leagues, doesn't seem like experience is the issue really. You'd imagine training and playing with Varane and Martinez wouldn't hurt his game.

Do we have any news on the probable cost of buying him?

Its been mentioned 30M above in this thread. Is that so?

Ratcliffe to give us a cheeky discount?

Agreed would be a great window. Especially if we offload deadwood as well.

Like watching Bailly:wenger:

Pretty composed short passer under pressure, though the more expansive passing options are taken up by his CB partner Dante.
