He really makes the most of David Luiz bad positioning, I'd certainly start him in this one always seems to knock a goal in against Chelsea.

Hernandez's lighting speed against the ageing John Terry should be fun to watch.

Can't wait to see this little bugger on Sunday. He's the type of player you are proud of to play for your club.

I was surprised that he didn't get a chance last night, especially when we needed a goal. Build up play etc. is basically no good without an end result, which he excels at.

Was purely down to the sending off imo. If we'd been chasing a goal with 11 men still on the pitch he would have been such a great option to bring on.

Hope he gets a start on Sunday as he's overdue one and its always funny seeing him tear Chelsea to shreds.

Anyone else worried he might leave soon if he doesn't get more game time?

Maybe I am being naive but he looks like he genuinely loves the club and enjoys playing for us even if his appearances are rather sporadic at times. His attitude has been nothing less than perfect.

Ferguson is also mindful that Robin van Persie is keeping Javier Hernández out of United's attack. "Chicharito's record against Chelsea is unbelievable," he said. "I have these issues. The form that Van Persie is in is strong and we've had to leave Chicharito out because of Van Persie. It's not easy. Sunday's a big game, I think Van Persie will want to play. But Chicharito's scored 15 goals and every time he comes in he does a job. You can't keep knocking him down all the time. It's disappointing to leave good players out of your team."

Not short term, No. But he's too good to be 4th choice his entire career and not play in the big games. Not being a local or a fan, I doubt just his love for the club would be enough to keep hold of him long term though.

Really harsh subbing him off tbh. He was giving Luiz and Cahill all sorts of problems with his runs.

Should have taken Rooney or Kagawa off.

Yeah, RVP was brought on to have someone who'd hold the ball up up top but he never gave him the chance by pumping balls to his head when he was surrounded by 3 players. Should have taken Rooney off.

Crazy decision to sub him. He's the one striker who doesn't need a rest right now.

After he scored a header that few forwards in the world are capable of I was surprised, to say the least, that he got subbed off. When you're chasing a win Javier Hernandez is one of the strikers you'd want to have on the pitch and there were other candidates to be taken off at the time.

Yeah, smacked of not wanting to take off Rooney after mid week. Would have given the press more to write about.

I think what made Fergie's mind up was around the 56th minute mark when Hernandez was in possession in Chelsea's half in front of the North Stand and David Luiz was shadowing him. Hernandez tried to do something bizarre with the football and in the end he confused himself, had no clue where the football was and Luiz nipped in to dispossess him, with Hernandez simply shrugging his shoulders and walking back towards our goal. It looked Sunday League standard and that was what we didn't need with Chelsea starting to pile on the pressure at the time. We needed somebody up front who was going to hold play up and bring our midfielders into the game, and van Persie was the only man we had on the bench capable of doing that.

Yes, he needed the game time, and yes, there were others who performed worse today, but you could understand why Fergie decided to call him ashore.

He was making fantastic runs all day today... He just needed to be picked out/ played in a bit more.

Cahill and Luiz struggled with his movement.

Fantastic header today and I thought his all round game was solid, unlucky to come off but as the post above says, Ferrgie probably wanted to avoid taking Rooney off.

Just because of one bad move ? Rooney had like 10. Rooney's touch was horrendous today and even their 2nd came from his poor touch.

Cheech is the type of player you want against positionally poor Chelsea defenders tbh, when chasing the game plus playing Van Persie slightly deeper to hold the ball and turn made sense too.

When we are getting pushed back through the middle he just becomes isolated up front. We didn't have to sit back as much as we did but when Carrick and his partner aren't having success between the half way line and the box and are doing too much defending his game coming short just isn't good enough.

Kagawa couldn't get on the ball and turn and play him in.

Fantastic goal but.

I was disappointed that Rooney didn't go off instead. Hernandez deserved more time on the pitch, plenty of others didn't.

He was great in the first half, but second half he was pretty much non existent (not his fault obviously) and I could see why he came off. Having him on the pitch when we are defending so deep won't help too much, and Van Persie holds the ball up much better then him up front so it was a logical switch.

No? Why do you think he slaps the badge every time he scores. He loves United and I don't think he'd leave unless he was told to go.

It's not as though he's one of those 'this has made me something special' players. He's home, he's made it at United and that is the max for him. Listen to his interviews, read his quotes.

The guy loves it. I have no doubt he will be here for years to come.

Took his goal really well. It was a good ball from Carrick, but he still had a lot to do to put it away. In the end he made cech look stupid. Thought it was the wrong decision to take him off in the end. Would have preferred to see Rooney or cleverley head off instead

Still puzled how Barca has not come for him. He could be what Villa never was for them. Wish he plays more. Such a clever player.

Villa used to play out on the wings for them, cutting in from the left. I don't know how Hernandez can fit in that formation.

He can fit in Real though. He would score truckloads from the service their midfielders provide.

His appearances/goals stats for United are absolutely superb, especially when you consider how many appearances are from the bench. In his first season which was brilliant, and everyone was rightly raving over him, he hit 20 goals in 45 apps. He's already hit 16 in 28 so far this season, and I think I'm right in saying in 17 of those 28 appearances he didn't play the full 90 minutes. He also has 7 assists this season. So he's been directly involved in 23 goals in his 28 appearances.

Deserves serious credit for this year. You'd be sorted if he was your first choice striker, never mind 3rd/4th.

Can't see him playing a bit part role despite being so good when playing, for long.

I think in a year or two if he is still a super sub or not regularly being even involved(like the Madrid was so huge and he didn't even take part in it) he will seriously consider leaving.

Think he's used well to get the most out of him myself. If he played 90 more often, his per minute numbers would plummet, whereas at the moment, it's looks as if he's on a similar to RVP I believe. Whoscored and other places only say he has 2 assists too, so unless he has 5 assists in his cup games, though randomly fantasy premier league has different numbers, key touches must count I guess, which is fair enough.

If he wants more "big game" time, then yeah, he's gonna have to move, but is he going to get a club who will be in these big games he has out to sit on anyway? Despite rumours, he'd only be another Owen at Madrid(good per minute numbers backing up his scoring pedigree, but still not much overall time on the pitch).

He also seems to love United from what I've actually seen him say, so unless it gets to a point where he's not even getting a chance to hit 20 a year, then I wouldn't be concerned.

I was thinking the same last night. His overall game is not the best but his goal scoring and movement is top notch to be sitting on the bench for us. Just 6 starts in the league is not good enough to satisfy a goal scorer of his quality. I am also worried that he might leave soon due to lack of first team opportunities.

What a finish for his goal yesterday. Absolute world class finish. And what a ball by Carrick.

The issues Hernandez faces at United, hes going to face at all other clubs of United's size and stature. The only clubs I can see him really see him staking a claim for a starting XI spot would be Bayern/Juventus & even that is not guaranteed. Unless he's willing to drop a level and play regularly for someone like Spurs etc.

I hope he stays but ultimately, it will be understandable if he's still 3rd/4th choice next season and he starts looking elsewhere.

You lot are unnecessarily thinking that he will leave. He has shown nothing of that sort as of now, never has whined or moaned while sitting on the bench, and I am sure he trains as hard.

He's the kind of player who loves to play, and playing a bit part role isn't for everyone.

He is such a potent goal threat and I've been harping on for a while now that he deserves more games. He's not just a super sub either. We need to use him more imo esp with Danny and RvP not currently scoring too many.
