He will never be that good. Technically, he is not good enough.

But it does not matter. His movement and instincts inside the box are perfect for our team, and he brings a wonderful balance to the side.

I am so glad that we have him, but please do not over-hype him.
From all reports about this guy, he turns up to training early an leaves late. He's putting in all the hard work, technical skill isn't particularly hard to improve and he's putting in all the hard work and we're already seeing the benefits.

You laugh at the thought that a player can be world best, but don't have any resignation to think that it is impossible? What makes you so sure that he can't improve? Technically? What does that mean?

Players can't improve on their technique.

So you typed something that generated heat earlier on, that has made you a permanent bot in this thread, and now you want to start typing stupid stuffs to make what point? This is now bothering on wuming and attention seeking.

 It doesn't, as long as they keep it to themselves. I just think it's silly is all.

People on here are incredibly easily agitated. It's not as if I was being racist or mocked the dead or anything. I wrote something partly tongue-in-cheek and all of a sudden everyone are throwing hissy fits.

Stop being so easily offended people, my goodness. Fake outrage, few things I hate more.

What makes you so fecking special? You dont think you come across as a bit insecure about yourself if you cant accept other people having a view on life different from your own?

It's just about one of the most famous phrases on the Caf, I think we know who came up with it!

This tit Saliph aint fit to lick Scholsey's boots. Or indeed, lace his penis

And you mr B responded to his Jesus-bashing with one of the least Christ-like comments I've seen in the f6 forum... I reckon you should both leave it ;P

Does Hernandez have the ability of Messi, Ronaldo, or Rooney? It is a laughable claim.

By technically, I mean his technique. His first touch is very often poor when he comes to receive the ball. He does not have outstanding close control. I don't think it is possible for these things to improve much. Players either have this or they do not. Hernandez is not a player with great technique. He still has other fantastic attributes, of course.

His balance and strength are also unimpressive, and he is easily knocked off the ball. These things, however, will surely improve as he continues to adapt to the English game.

Like I have said numerous times, I really do like Hernandez and what he does bring to the side, but it is not right to overrate his ability.

I'm not even particularly religious but...it's funny how many atheists are just as zealous and unreasonable as the worst fundamentalists.

Anyway, back to our Javier:

Why can't militant atheists keep it to themselves either?

I read every week on this forum about over zealous Catholics but Redcafe must be a change from the norm because all I see on here is over zealous atheists.

It was the seriousness of the grammar that threw me off, I'd originally written "Are you trying to pull a Scholsey?" but changed because I wasn't sure.

It's a testament to the spasticity of the Caf that you could actually think "is this guy serious?"

I guess you'd need to know the portfolio of a guy who makes a deadpan comment like that... or to know that it's a carbon copy of a legendary Scholesy line

That's bullshit for one, enough hard work and all those things will massively improve. Just compare those aspects of his game at the start of the year to what they're like now.

Oh, the irony, considering that's exactly what the religious people think, that they're special. It's ego masquerading as humility.

Nothing makes me special. Absolutely nothing at all.

I've already answered this.

I'm done with this now.

Oh well, it was fun to see how furious people still are. They were on that comment like lions.

Well, I guess that Dawkins & co label themselves and their kind as 'Brights' because of their inherent humility and lack of 'speciality'. It's rather sad over-compensation, reeks of insecurity, the cowardice of their convictions and, I guess, a form of denial. That laughable moniker is the intellectual equivalent of a child's 'I was brave' balloon after a visit to the dentist; the irony is lost on the most militant of atheists.

I think that's cringeworthy.

The fact that atheists are the least trusted of all groups in the US, and that a lot of people falsely equate atheism with nihilism meant that they were well within their rights in trying to rebrand atheism a bit. The fact that atheists dared to make a bit of a fuss about themselves seems to stick in a lot of theists' craw. Why not try to practise what you preach, rather than sniping pettily back?

Also, this thread is trying to get back on track, so how about you leave it? (the issue, not the thread, obviously)

I encourage Saliph to do the same.

This is Chicharito's thread, and he's just helped sort us out for no. 19. in his debut season.

I'm done with it, but if people keep bringing it up I'm gonna answer them.

Fair enough, Eriku. As I stated, I'm not a religious person; it's simply that I've little faith that a world without religion would necessarily be any better than what we have now. As an aside, the rise of atheism seems to me to be the nascent victory of the unimaginative - if all that's left is materialism and the tangible, that equates to the rather soulless existence that modern life is already winding its way towards.

Back on topic:

I'm not sure that Javier's supposed lack of technique is a major problem; he is what he is, yet he's improving all the time anyway.

His movement is of the highest calibre, can score regularly with either foot and his head, and is exceptional in one-on-one situations. Couldn't give a toss if people didn't class him as "one of the best in the world" because of perceived technical faults, he'll be scoring feck tons for us regardless

Just HAVE to add my tiniest of thoughts to that (nicked from Sam Harris)... Atheism is without content. It's not meant to replace anything, it's just meant to take away what's by many considered false and sometimes down-right dangerous. Philosophical musings'll still be there, just none of the certainty that constitutes religious faith. So I wouldn't be worried about the world becoming soulless, I wager you'll never find a sterile society, unless there were some sort of drugged Equlibrium-esque dystopia on the rise.

Agree on Hernandez' lack of technique... it's an overstated issue... I couldn't believe my eyes when I read comments to that effect not long after he'd scored that corking winner against Valencia at the Mestalla.

I like you. :D

Ditto... you think I'd risk getting caught up in this perennial shit sandwich of an issue, in the main forum, no less, if not? ;)

But you're pretty much saying they should listen to you, while you wont listen to them?? If that dont make you a bit special, I dont know what does

Indeed... Owen brought us some much needed striker's instinct when he arrived, but add to that Hernandez' pace and enthusiasm and you have probably some of the most consistently dangerous movement in the box... The wingers, if they have an iota of footballing intelligence, will always know where to find him inside the box.

And he's so young, and he loves the club... Oh, Chicha... if your head gets turned by money or some other club, you could wind up hurting me so much... but for now <3

Probably has to do with us both being Norwegian.

On this subject, mos def... not seen any religious Noggies on here thus far... we're such clichés :P

Doesn't hurt that you work at Paper Street Soap Factory, either.

It is because religion and atheism are both systems of belief.

There is no fact or science behind either of them. At a very fundamental level, they are mirrors of each other.

Nucks, go sort out your misconceptions in one of the many other threads... I'd love to debate the tits off this, but we're trying to reclaim a thread.

Tell you what, you go get started in CE, and I'll be in shortly.

Erm, what? Atheism is not a belief system. Atheism is the rejection of a belief system.

Edit: that's it, I'm done. No more.
