Javier Hernandez | 2010/11 Performances

I can bet a house Hernadez would comfortably out score Villa in a Spain shirt.

Wow. Thats about the most retarded thing I've ever heard.

Hernandez would comfortably beat 46 goals in 72 matches. He'd have a comfortably better scoring rate than a goal every 1.5 matches over a long period? And therefore he'd be literally twice the player Raul is, as he took 102 matches to get 44 goals.

Ridiculous.

Antonio passed away on 2009 amigo. It was his younger brother Aldo who scored.

That's absolutely true. My bad. 2009? Wow, I thought it had been last year!

Btw, were you the one to comment on my Twitter regarding my article about Chicharito, titled "¿El Chicharito es un tronco, o no entiendes el juego?" because someone told me "It's Aldo, not Antonio" on Twitter and when I checked my article I hadn't made that mistake.

Anyways, nice to see you around, RonalBecks, log in more often.

he's on about 66 posts a year ffs. I'd tell him slow down.;)

While Villa is in a bit of a rut at this moment in time, he's still a better player and goalscorer than Hernandez is atm. Look at his goals in the world cup, Hernandez couldn't do that, Villa isn't bad with the tap ins either.

Hernandez wouldnt be able to keep a goal each 1.5 game ratio up for all the years needed to beat Villa's record. He wouldnt be able to do it from left wing like Villa at the world cup either. Its a really stupid idea.

However, Hernandez is a young man and perhaps when he matures as a player perhaps his own Mexico record might suggest he could do something like Villa.

I think some are underestimating the mental composure as well as the skill and abilty to shrug off tackles that Villa has.

He's been doing what he been doing for Spain for 4 or so seasons. lets mention Henandez as somewhere near his overall equal once we've had at least 2-3 seasons to asses how far he can develop.

Not much being said about him today but I thought he was pivotal in us becoming more dangerous, he freed up Rooney, he ran the channels well and used the ball smartly on most occasions, plus his movement as always gave us space and options and he notched up goal #17.

He gives defenders such a headache, they couldn't afford to push up because they always had the fear of him running in behind them and opening them up. He definitely had a huge impact on the game. Another poachers goal, keep them coming.

We always look a more dangerous team with him on the pitch. He always seems to score a goal in any match where we need goals - albeit today was just to secure our win, we needed goals when he came on and he did score.

And I dont believe he's ever let us down with a poor performance in a tight match. One or two "okay" matches where it wasnt his day for goalscoring but he still worked for the team, created space and was unlucky, but poor? I dont think so. Not yet.

There was something about him today that was different. Didn't look as if he was fighting for a spot in the first team - he just oozed confidence and looked as if he'd been one of the main stars in the team for years.

Made a massive impact when he came on. I remember the shafting that when on about Owen's movement when we signed him, but Hernandez is in a class of his own. To be honest, I'm not sure I've seen anything like it!

I love him, just utterly and completely. I love the way he has the hugest smile on his face after he scores a goal, it's absolutely loving it here.

Really he is... Always the one that lights up the most if he's on the bench and we score.

What an impact he's had, so early on in his career at United, not to mention in general.

Might prove to be one of Fergie's best buys, and that's saying something.

That's a good point, he started off as a feisty go getter, but there was a calmness and first team belonging when he came on today, such a great buy, easily the signing of the season IMO.

He's a pleasure to watch as he plays with an enthusiasm that is infectious., I get a buzz just watching him play, there's definitely something special about him.

I don't know about easily, Chris Smalling might have something to say about that.

What I love was that at the start of the season Lou Macari was on SSN debating who would win the league with tony cascarino (IIRC) and Lou said that Hernandez would be a great signing and the boost we needed to win the league. Cascarino just looked like he was thinking "yeah whatever, never really heard of him before the world cup so he can't be that great"

Lou Macari was completely right.

He got absolutely crunched by Parker and just stood up right away.

When he turned DaCosta he could have had another as well.

I love him.

I love Hernandez. He has become easily my favourite player and to be perfectly honest I would start him in every single game. We look so much better when he is playing and he is constantly a threat even when he is not at his best.

Why is he crazy? What is so outlandish about his claim? Have you seen the service Villa gets from those midfield monsters he has around him?

It's crazy to compare Hernandez with one of the best strikers in the last 5-6 years who's scored consistently with a team which had no midfield monsters and sometimes while playing on the wing.
It's crazy to be so sure about the fact that Hernandez would do better than him

Well 'on target' isn't that impressive really, is it?

It's his total that's immense, it's the highest in the league quite comfortably for a striker/attacker surely.

I don't know about easily, Chris Smalling might have something to say about that.

Fair point, I just think the amount of vital goals Chicharito has scored along with the fact he pushed his way past Berbatov is an incredible first season achievement and marks him out above Smalling or VDV.

I don't know about easily, Chris Smalling might have something to say about that.

Thing is, Smalling has practically had chances being given to him on a platter with Rio, Evans, Brown, O'Shea and even Vidic, being out for one reason or another. Credits to him, he has taken his chances well.

Hernandez has to fight for a spot in the team where Rooney is, when fit, our first choice. And it's not like in recent years where our strikers have been rather goal-shy, he's competing against the top-scorer in the league, Berbatov, who's easily having his best season so far for us, and an experienced striker in Michael Owen for the remaining spot (it gets worse when we only play one man upfront). Add that to the fact that this is his first season in a new league and it'll make his stint so far all the more impressive. He has to be the top few in the league when it comes to goals/mins ratio in the league.

He's #2, just the slightest bit behind van Persie. Both have 11 goals, but the gooner's played one fewer minute than Hernandez. Berba is third.

Didn't realise Berbatov was so close. Pretty impressive stat in my opinion, tells us how much depth we have in our forward line as compared to last season where we were basically fecked when Rooney was injured.

He really is closer than I would have guessed, which I suppose means he's played fewer minutes than I realized. Van Persie and Hernandez are at 95.36 and 95.45 min/goal, respectively. Berba is at 100.2 min/goal. Caveman Carlos is 4th at 119.3 min/goal, so a fair bit back of the top three.

I might note that this is a stat that doesn't necessarily give a great indication into someone's player. After those four, the rest of the top ten are Leon Best, Bibotelli, Harewood, Sturridge, Carroll and Walcott.
