He would cost probably about 10 million pounds. The 25 million is ridiculous.

I guess it might depend on how much faith they have in Valdes. Cillessen would be a good understudy, but not more yet.
 
Been quite solid this season from what I gather but 25m is more than what they payed for De Gea, right? And he was instrumental in his side winning the Europa League. Halve that and I wouldn't be upset but I would still like to see Johnstone get his shot.
 
If this happens then it's pretty much replacing Ronaldo with Valencia and Owen, something like this should be illegal.

I'm going to pretend this thread doesn't exist and someone is playing a practical joke linking us with this guy.
 
Will be slightly worried about LVG's Dutch bias if this happens. Would be insane to spend that amount when you could buy Cech for less.
 
May just be backup with Valdes taking top spot.
 
What a sad day when the token price for any player we're interested in is £25m regardless of standard.

FWIW I think Cillessen would be a logical number 2 at a fairer price. Would prefer, as people have mentioned before, one of the German young keepers littered throughout the Bundesliga - Leno, Karius etc.

We have Valdes at the club, no need to sign a 26-year old Dutch goalkeeper who would probably rather be first choice for someone while he's still playing for his national team than play second fiddle at United for years. Lindegaard should probably leave in the Summer but then again he's been in the same role for years and hasn't complained so perhaps he's fine with it and would rather keep it this year. Second choice keeper is actually great role to have, you bear no responsibility (even less so if you're third choice like Lindegaard now), pocket good money and get to watch games of a big club free of charge. :lol:
 
If we go for him, it would be to make him the no 2 and the price won't be anywhere close to the 25mil being thrown about.
 
He is a solid keeper, but nowhere near the top goalkeepers in the world. Signing this guy will only add to the disappointment of losing DDG.
 
He's been topclass for Ajax this year, he's so calm like DDG, is very good at saving, already strong in the air, has a brilliant reflex. Apart from the Ibra goal this year, he's been massive for Ajax in Europe too. 25 million is way over the top tho.
 
I see people using the penalties against Cillessen but it's a bit dishonest, Van gaal changed the goalkeepers because Krul had better stats and because he wanted to create doubts in the opposition minds.
 
This is clearly made up, remember last summer we were going to sign all these Dutch players but in the end we only signed Blind

If anything that actually works in the favour of Cillessen tbh, despite Krul being better at penalties LVG trusted Cillessen because he is a LVG type of keeper. Also what ppl forget is that in his 4 years at the club DDG hasn't actually saved a lot of pens anyway
 
The only way I can see Cillessen joining is if Valdes is going to be first choice and LVG wants a better than average keeper to keep him in competititon.

In a summer when Cech is available and Lloris is gettable (and where money is not really an issue, especially if DDG is actually sold) I just don't see that Cillessen would be the peak of our ambitions.
 
If this guy is going to be our next number one... We are not saved !

I saw his games against in the world cup last year and also his games against Paris and Barcelona earlier this year and his was not good at all.

His distribution was very poor and you can't see an enormous potential as we can see in De Gea, Cech or even Lloris.

If Cech is really leaving for Arsenal, and LVG doesn't trust Valdes to be number one, I'd go for Lloris, the less worst from what we heard.

But I would never trust Cillessen to be our number one, that's for sure
 
If he ain't good at stopping penalties then in my book he is simply not good enough.
 
This link was inevitable from the moment David stalled over a new contract. I doubt there's anything in it though Louie is a bit notorious for doing weird shit in the transfer market.
 
If i had put a list together for the 10 GKs we should go this summer who are available and realistic, he wouldnt be on it. He is Dutch and he knows him, but he just isnt good enough to be more than a midtable PL GK or 2nd keeper. I saw him at the WC and CL, nothing suggests to me he has anything to succeed here.
 
Not seen much of him other than the WC and a few Ajax games this season when they're on Sky. He looks fairly solid, but nothing outstanding. Certainly not an elite level goalkeeper, IMO. I'd rather we went with Valdes, who has pedigree and experience, as well as a proven record of very good performances.
 
Saw a dutch article few months ago where De Boer said Cillessen would be a United target.

Now apparently a €25m offer (not £25m big difference) that is like £19m. And Overmars coming out an saying they are not going to sell not even for €25m so there definitely is something go on about this.

I don't know enough about him but Van Gaal was impressed by him at the world cup and he obviously knows the player. Getting Krul for the penalties was a genius move but it doesn't mean Cillesen is a bad goalkeeper.

Apparently had a great season at Ajax and he is one of those keepers that is excellent with his footwork which is clearly what Van Gaal is looking for rather an excellent shotstopper. Also young so will become better and Van Gaal can work on him (like something which probably will be less the case with a Valdes or Cech) and obviously the dutch connection.

I think it will be Cillessen, Cech or Valdes as shortlist for replacing De Gea.

I don't see us making him our no 1 so if the reports of us being interested in him are true, has to be as the No 2. Could be prepared to take over from Valdez if things go right.
 
Not in the elite keepers or someone with potential that can get there. We should be going for one of the German keepers if DDG does leave, they are reliable, talented and have the potential to develop, much like when DDG joined us.

I'm not looking for a move otherwise I wouldn't signed a contract till 2018. If I wanted to leave I could've because my old contract was untill 2016, if I want to move now the club will play hardball'.

Do you think he'd be good enough for United ?
 
Not sure about the rumors, but just had a feeling that Cillessen might be someone who LvG will target. He has managed him in the past and Hoek seems to rate him highly. There is absolutely no way that United will pay 25 million for him, no way.

I don't know I see United paying 25m for just about anything these days

We paid 40 million for this ...

I'm not sure, I haven't seen every Ajax match this season. I think he's a good keeper, but he's 26 and has been benched alot of seasons. He's not fazed by pressure at all, which is good, but he's prone to some silly errors. Going by what he said I think he wants to stay for his development, I don't think he's better than Valdes right now and not as talented as other young goalkeepers. Hoek/LvG might see more in him, but I haven't seen enough and I doubt it.

We've just paid 32m Euro including bonusses, the record transfer in the Eredivisie, for the biggest talent this year. A goalkeeper wouldn't cost more.
