If it was to replace someone like Young as a squad player, I don't think I'd be too unhappy with signing him.
As much as i dislike him, i would rather keep Young.
Surely the disappointing thing about it would be that we are pissing about replacing one squad player for another when we should be concentrating on strengthening our first XI.
Townsend is shite. I've a Spurs supporting mate who claims Levy would deserve a knighthood if he managed to sell him to us.

I totally agree! The squad is strong, it's the first team that needs improving. But as I said, I don't think replacing Young with a younger, cheaper option who is already on a similar level, would be a bad idea. That said, I have no doubt the money Spurs would want would be way above what he would be worth to us.
Young is a better player than Townsend IMO. Young might be significantly older and not found his finest form over the past year or so but I still stick by that.

Kallstrom to Arsenal? That's a certain downgrade after being linked to the likes of Suarez and Rooney only 6 months ago.
Young seems to be finding his form too, getting back to those lovely cut in from the left screamer goals.
I'd have Young over Townsend any day of the week. Brainless footballer, not worth much more than £10m. I'd cry if we sign a player of his 'quality' when we already have mediocre quality in Valencia and Young.
Come on lads. Townsend is a very good player and has a bright future ahead of him. I don't think he will be world class more Adam Johnson but he's far from crap and could be better than Young and Valencia. Even though its a nothing rumour.
Valencia at his best was our player of the season. I can't see Townsend ever reaching those levels.

Fair point. We should be looking at better players than Townsend in any case. He plays for Spurs so no chance of getting him for a reasonable fee, and him not being that good in his career so far make him a no go for me. We should be looking at players like Reus/Di Maria for our wings, not Andros Townsend!

Seems like people have a lot of trouble on here giving Spurs any credit for having talented wingers. First it was Bale everyone loved to slag off and say was shit, and now it is Townsend.

It's only me 'slagging him off', and I'm not even doing that. Just saying he's overrated and not good enough for us. We already have such quality in Young and Valencia (i.e. not the top quality we need right now), no point adding someone else like that and paying a premium price. Moyes wants to go down the world class route (Reus bracket players), and Townsend is a long way off that.
I don't particularly rate Tony anymore and want him replaced ASAP, but he's still better than Andros fecking Townsend.
Townsend would be a poor, poor move. He isn't very good at all.

It all very much sounds like Ashley Young. He also had a very good run in the England team and did well for a team below the top four.
I don't think Townsend is any more talented than Young.

I dint know what you mean about talented but he definitely has more ability when it comes to beating his man.

Townsend has potential, but do we need another young winger with potential with Zaha on loan, and Januzaj still so young? Plus having Young, Nani and Valencia in the squad as well, and Mata can and has operated from both sides plenty. Well stocked. I know United love wingers, but it's just too many.
