January Transfer Window

This thread is surprisingly sane considering the windows opens in 3 days. I highly doubt Koke will happen unless Atletico are really desperate for money, Gundogan and Reus won't happen. I think Anderson and Buttner will leave with a LB coming in, either Baines or Alex Sandro of Porto (who Cina is in love with). Everton will probably want upwards of £20m or something daft like that though. That being said, the 'cup-tied' excuse for not going for a player is a bit silly considering that at most you'd be playing 5-6 games in the CL anyway.

Loan with an option to buy isn't that unusual these days. Real Madrid do it, so do quite a few Italian clubs. Is somebody benchwarming somewhere, who wants to go to the World Cup, who might suit us?

With Fletcher back.Moyes will feel more relaxed about bringing a CM in.Can see this as a pretty quiet transfer window.

Also, add the fact that he's already brought in a CM in the summer.

Unless Moyes manages to offload Anderson, I can't see him being in any kind of panic to bring in another CM until the summer.

There are no excuses this time for Moyes and Woodward. He has to do good business whether it's January or the summer when he decides to make his moves (has to be multiple really). His first summer was his first so he and the chief exec were new to it at such a big club, but all this World Cup coming no one wants to move, World Cup has finished prices have gone through the roof etc stuff won't work.

Sandro of Porto could be an interesting option. Already out of the CL, so I don't think the player would choose Europa League over playing for United.

There is a lack if quality throughout this team but any addititons have to be top draw. There is no point in buying more Fellainis. If we blow our budget we could be in real trouble for a few seasons

You're watching United games lately am I right?

I think the January transfer window may surprise a lot of you.

Moyes will pull a few sexy signings out of the bag, I'm sure.

Drawer. It's drawer. For the love of God, there is no such saying as 'top draw'.

you're gonna be a busy chap if you go around correcting things like this on a football forum!
Half the posters are illiterate goons ;)

I'm glad we're going into the transfer window on the back of a run of good results. It should help ease some of the panic over not finishing 4th. The very worst thing we could do now is burden ourselves with short term desperation signings.

WAR CHEST!

 Amazing journalism.

Now would definitely be a great time to bring in a signing IMO. On a good run of form, a new midfielder can only help spur the team on, and it would be easier for him to fit in too rather then if we were doing shit and everyone put too much pressure on the new signing to change our fortunes. Please just let us sign a proper midfielder though, we've been crying out for one for 5-6 years now.

"wont be a busy window" according to Moyes.

Mass caf suicide ahead for the Muppets.

Seriously though, hes making a mistake. He should be going all out in January. He is dicing with fate waiting till the summer

There is no other option. No midfielder that is/will be good enough will leave right now. We can get a left back, though, and I do expect that to happen if possible.

Yeah, I can see Baines being bought, and Powell coming back. Too difficult to get top class midfielders in January. Hard enough to do it in the summer.

I don't buy that mate. Money talks - unfortunately were just not prepared to pay the going rate. There are plenty of options out there

I can't see us buying a top class player in January. Forget about being cup-tied but what club would sell one of their best players? Atletico level on points with Barcelona and cruised through their Champions league group. Why would they sell Koke unless they were desperate? Dortmund struggling in the Bundesliga but will have aspirations to win the Champions league and at least finish 2nd in the Bundesliga. I just can't see any way we're going to sign a top class player.

It does, but in this case I don't think it's as cut and dry as that. Look, I agree, I don't think we have been prepared to pay the going rates in the past, and it will lead to problems unless we start treating the market with the silliness it merits. What I mean is, elite footballers now cost 35-40 million pounds, not 25. If Woodward wants these players in the way he claims then he must be prepared to sanction the appropriate money, wages and yes, agents fees.

With that said, there genuinely is a lack of brilliant midfielders available. If Gundogan and Koke are targets, then I doubt they will leave due to the World Cup coming up. In the Summer, with the correct money, maybe we can actually try and bludgeon one of these transfer through, but right now? I don't see it. Plus, I don't want to see the midfield money spent on anything less than a sure-thing.

Atletico need to sell - financially they are not in a good way. They would like to keep him till the summer but as i said, money talks. Give them a decision to make.

As for waiting till summer, you may be right and i can completely understand the point. But, what happens should we miss out on top 4? No world class player will sign for us....unless we pay big big salaries - which ive stated we don't seem to want to do. IM usually all for waiting till summer but this season is different. We are not in any way guaranteed top 4 as things stand and the whole club could be doing with a lift - a proper CM signing would provide that lift.

Can see your point pal and many will agree. I just think this season is one where we need to throw caution to the wind a little.

Gundogan and Koke are not starting for their respective national teams - a move for them is not as risky as people make out.

I'm not saying we shouldn't try but it will be highly unlikely that we'll be successful with bids for those players. With Atletico's aspirations I'm sure they'd rather wait until the summer before thinking of selling him.

I'd love to see it, don't get me wrong. But I just can't see it. I'm thinking Baines for 15-20 million and perhaps an out of the blue, smaller purchase elsewhere. If we haven't signed anybody after the first week in the window then that'll be that I reckon.

You never know. As i said, give them something to think about.

Hes not only midfielder out there - Matuidi, Matic, Carvahlo would all improve us immensely

If we managed to sign Shaw and Koke or Gundogan in January, followed up by offloading Anderson and Young and signing Reus in the summer, I think I'd have an orgasm.

It seems so unlikely and unrealistic but it's exactly what we need to do if we are serious about our status as a big club.

This squad really does need some work :(

Meh. I must be the only guy that doesn't rate Matuidi. Not the midfielder we need in my opinion. I feel we need a creative midfielder and one to control the game. I'd love Matic, Carvalho is the one that plays for Sporting I assume? Not really seen him play but I've seen some good reviews. But seen a few saying they're not sure if he's ready yet.

I would go in for Koke and Gundogan though. I would also go in for Axel Witsel.

We'll still signing sponsors though am I right? Then we wait for summer 2015-2016 since next summer is the WC summer and there will be no value.

Witsel is excellent. Point in making is there are plenty out there that are buyable in January. We just need to pay the money and we have nobody to blame but ourselves for letting the midfield situation get so desperate

but wait, there's no value, no one can replace Paul Scholes and Fletcher is like a new signing.

Honestly, why don't you just feck off? Your negative, miserable shtick got tired ages ago. You just make the same shite post over and over.

calm down mate.

seriously aren't you frustrated of seeing our team constantly ignoring CM. Surely there must be a better midfielder then Fecking Ando around am I right?
